Nouran discussed their controversial marriage, which critics labeled as "love jihad," and clarified that Vivian’s conversion to Islam was solely his decision, made after studying the religion for himself.
Bigg Boss 18: Vivian Dsena's wife Nouran Aly opens up about facing trolling; says 'People said I converted Vivian to Islam, they called it love jihad'
Actor Vivian Dsena, currently a contestant on Bigg Boss 18, recently had a heartfelt reunion with his wife, Nouran Aly, during Family Week. After her visit to the house, Nouran shared insights into their love story and reflected on how their marriage had once been labeled as "love jihad."
For those unaware, Vivian, originally from a Christian background, embraced Islam in 2019. In 2022, he tied the knot with Nouran, a year after finalizing his divorce from his first wife, Vahbiz Dorabjee.
In an interview with Galatta India, Nouran revealed the backlash the Sirf Tum actor faced after announcing their marriage on social media. She said, "I did face trolling on the internet that I converted Vivian to Islam, people called it love jihad and all those things. Vivian too received hate on social media. It also affected his work pattern."
She further added, "I’m not here to judge, but sometimes these things can work against you. We have many differences in beliefs, language, and more. I told Vivian that in my society and religion, interfaith marriages are not accepted at all, and I respect that. At the same time, I also respect that no one should have to change who they are for me."

She clarified further, saying, "Just to be clear, Vivian wasn’t Hindu; he was Christian. Christianity and Islam are both Abrahamic religions and share the same core principles. However, in my religion, women don’t convert."
Nouran shared that during a challenging phase in their relationship, brought on by their differing religious backgrounds, she decided to take a step back. "I distanced myself from Vivian for six months because I was deeply worried and scared that he might make this decision for me. I knew society would not spare him if he converted for a woman, and I wouldn’t be spared either. I also feared he might regret it later if he made such a significant change for someone who didn’t meet his expectations in the marriage. So, for six months, I didn’t respond to his calls or messages," she revealed.
She continued, "I later learned through a mutual friend that Vivian had been studying my religion—not for me, but for himself. I had no influence over this decision. He took the time to read, learn, and ask questions. After six months, he told my friends he wanted to speak to me because he was ready to embrace the religion for his own reasons, not mine. Even if I had chosen not to be with him, he would have converted anyway because it was a decision he made for himself," she explained.
Vivian and Nouran tied the knot in a private ceremony in December 2022. Together, they are now proud parents of three children. Vivian has embraced fatherhood with Nouran’s two daughters from her previous marriage, and the couple welcomed their own daughter, Layan, after getting married.
