Eijaz Khan’s journey in showbiz has been anything but smooth. Known for his impactful roles in
Tanu Weds Manu and City of Dreams, Khan’s career trajectory reflects resilience and adaptability. Ahead of his new show release Dhoom Dhaam with Pratik Gandhi and Yami Gautam, Khan spoke about the highs and lows of his professional life. "Fame came overnight," Khan reminisced about his early days in television. "But the industry, for all that it gives, demands an equal pound of flesh in return."
Reflecting on his grueling schedule with Balaji Telefilms, he shared, "I’d move from one set to another, rarely going home. I even had my own vanity van, where I kept clothes, food, and everything else." Transitioning from television to films wasn’t easy. "Between 2006 and 2008, I was doing films, but there was this perception: ‘Why should we pay to watch actors we already see for free on TV?’" he explained.
Despite setbacks, including unreleased projects, Khan remained optimistic. "I’m very happy with where I am today. The universe ensured the fire in me has always been burning." Khan’s determination to reinvent himself led to a diversified career. "I stayed out of television for a long time to focus on films. It was difficult, but every experience—even the struggles—shaped me as an actor," he said. As Khan prepares for Dhoom Dhaam, he credits his journey for enriching his craft. "Actors should have all kinds of experiences. Those who’ve faced hunger and struggles bring depth to their performances. I feel lucky that my toolkit is full," he shared.
