Samarth Jurel became a fan favorite during his participation in Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss 17, where his humorous demeanor was widely appreciated. Currently, Samarth is filming the second season of Laughter Chefs. Amidst his busy schedule, the young talent has discussed how he avoids taking on repetitive roles.
Shedding light on the subject, Samarth recently shared, “Actors are often asked to play similar roles because of their appearance or the types of roles they’ve successfully done in the past. Casting directors and producers tend to associate actors with specific traits or characters that resonate with audiences, making it easier for them to envision the actor in similar roles. While this might be convenient for the industry, it can sometimes limit an actor’s opportunities to explore new horizons.”
Samarth mentioned that even though he has encountered similar situations, he has always politely declined such offers. “It’s something every actor faces at some point in their career. There have been moments when I’ve been offered roles that felt repetitive or too similar to what I’ve done before. In such situations, I’ve chosen to decline unless I feel there’s something fresh or unique about the story or the character. It’s important for me to take up projects that challenge me creatively and allow me to grow as an artist,” he shared.
He also noted that it is even more challenging for television actors to break away from a particular image. Explaining the reason behind this, the actor concluded by saying, “The reason is that television audiences get used to seeing them in a specific role for an extended period. TV shows often run for years, and during that time, the actor becomes synonymous with their character in the audience’s mind. This strong association can make it challenging for both the actor and the viewers to see them in a completely different light.”
