"Drama Juniors" keeps winning hearts with the remarkable performances of its contestants. The show has not only impressed viewers but also received high praise from the judges for some of the adorable acts. In an exclusive interview, actress and judge Poorna expressed her excitement about being part of the show.
Discussing her debut as a judge on an acting show, Poorna admitted that she was initially skeptical.
"I come from a dance reality show background, so when the team approached me, I was unsure whether to take it on. However, they convinced me that the show includes not only drama but also dance, music, and more. Plus, I love being around kids, so I seized the opportunity," she said.
Sharing her experience as a judge, the actress noted that each contestant is a truly gifted talent.
"Honestly, when I see some of these performances, I feel like I’m nothing compared to them. As someone who grew up performing live on stage, I understand how challenging it can be to execute a perfect act. Unlike movies or TV shows, where you can take multiple shots to get it right, stage performance demands perfection in one take. The way these kids perform so brilliantly on stage is unbelievable. I’m truly amazed at how effortlessly they deliver their dialogues," the actress shared.
When asked about a memorable performance on the show, Shamna highlighted Dhanvika's emotional act. In this performance, Dhanvika portrayed a newborn baby abandoned by her parents, which left a strong impression on Poorna.
"I still wonder how she managed to convey such deep emotion through her voice alone. That performance touched my heart profoundly. This is truly the best aspect of the show. 'Drama Juniors' isn't just a stage for random comedy performances; every day features an act that deeply moves you," the judge added.
Along with praising the contestants' performances, Poorna also highlighted how the young participants inspire many.
"Contestant Tulasi Punem comes from the Adivasi community, and her story and vision are truly inspiring. When they showed the AV of her life, I was shocked. She doesn’t aspire to be an actress; she wants to build a school in her community. The fact that she joined the show to support her community is incredible. Wow!" she mentioned.
Discussing her experience of sharing the judging panel with veteran actress Jayaprada and director Venu, Poorna said she feels truly blessed.
"I learn something new every day. Sharing the panel with someone you looked up to while growing up is pure bliss. Jayaprada ma’am is incredibly down-to-earth, and I am learning a lot from her. She is very understanding and considerate as well. Since I sometimes arrive late to shoots because I bring my baby along, she comforts me by saying, 'Take your time'. I feel privileged to be a part of the team," she shared.
