AI Guru: "Erm...use it to read your analytics data. Automate reports" Me: Yeah, we tried that several years ago with Quill Engage, but got rid of it when I realised that I wasn't digging into and learning from the data. You'll see soon. AI Guru: "Ermm....okay, what about this? Prompt tracking" Me: "Cool, now what?" AI Guru: <runs away> Like what Andy said. We don't need to reinvent the wheel every single year. If most of your enquiries come from Google Maps, you need to know this. Google is rolling out a new Gemini-powered feature in Maps called “Ask Maps”. Instead of scrolling a long list of local businesses, people can now type natural questions like: “Who can install an EV charger near me this evening?” “Best emergency dentist open now in Leicester?” Maps’ AI answers the question and then surfaces a very small, curated set of businesses first. That shortlist appears before the traditional map pack. So you can “rank well”… and still not be seen. If you’re not in that AI-picked set, your visibility for those high-intent searches can drop, fast. What to do now: • Post consistent proof-style photos: real jobs, team on site, equipment, storefront, before/after results. • Fully complete Services & Attributes with specifics, not vague labels. Think: “EV charger installation”, “breaker replacement”, “emergency dentist”, “same-day boiler repair”. • Align your website and Google Business Profile. Same services, locations, and areas in both. No guesswork. • Ask for reviews that mention service + area + outcome. Example: “Same-day breaker repair in Nottingham, power back in 2 hours.” How to check if you have Ask Maps: • Update your Google Maps app to the latest version. • Look for an “Ask Maps” style button/entry near the search bar. • If you don’t see it yet, the rollout is gradual.
