Learning to swim at 60: Facing a lifelong fear of water

For almost his entire life, Zbigniew Szpotowicz avoided the water due to fear. He never learned to swim, and for a long time felt too embarrassed to talk about it. He's far from alone: many adults cannot swim and similarly feel ashamed. At the age of 60, Zbigniew took a courageous decision and signed up for a beginners' swimming course.
