Selling Sunset’s newest agent, Alanna Gold, must be pretty brave. After all, the popular real estate series has seen its fair share of drama, and a plethora of former cast members have disappeared from our screens, often in a flurry of scandal.
Now in its eighth season, Gold joins the show as a rookie agent. But will she be able to acclimate to the sometimes frosty conditions at The Oppenheim Group’s decadent offices? Here’s what you need to know about Selling Sunset season 8’s new recruit, Alanna Gold.
She grew up near Toronto.
Alanna Gold may be a resident of Los Angeles now, but she actually grew up near Toronto, Canada, Us Weekly reported. According to the outlet, Gold also studied in Canada, earning a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Ontario Tech University. The new real estate star also has a Canadian flag emoji on her Instagram profile, making it clear she’s proud of her home country.
She nearly became a veterinarian.
Prior to selling luxury real estate, Gold studied to be a veterinarian, but life had very different plans for her. “I was originally studying to be a vet, so I was going to university and I got discovered for modeling in the middle of it,” she told People.
It would seem that Gold’s decision to pivot was probably the best option, especially for her health. “I took the opportunity because I'm actually allergic to animals, so that was not a good path for me,” she told the outlet.
She trained as a real estate agent during the pandemic.
After pursuing a modeling career, which took her all over the world, Gold decided to move to Los Angeles. Hit by the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic, Gold saw an opportunity to change her path again. “When everything kind of shut down, I knew that was an amazing chance to get my [real estate] license,” she explained to People. “So I really spent those months just studying.”
Despite having had a successful modeling career, Gold fell in love with real estate, which eventually led to her joining the cast of Selling Sunset. “When I started working in this industry, I loved it and I realized that I didn’t want to go back into modeling,” she told the outlet. “I really wanted to put all my time into real estate.”
She has a “deep connection to the desert.”
In episodes 5 and 6 of season 8, Gold takes Mary Fitzgerald, Nicole Young, and Amanza Smith on a trip to Pioneertown in San Bernardino County, California. Formerly a movie set, Pioneertown continues to function as a tourist destination, and attracts visitors from all over the world. Most importantly, perhaps, Alanna and her husband Adam Gold are partial co-owners of Pioneertown.
As for how she ended up owning a portion of the unique town, Alanna told People, “We’ve always really loved it, and it was actually where we went for one of our first trips.” As a result, it would seem that purchasing an interest in the tourist destination was a no-brainer for Alanna and her husband. “We always knew we wanted to own a piece of property out there or be a part of the community somehow,” she explained.
Alanna’s husband encouraged her to join Selling Sunset.
Joining an incredibly successful reality TV show wouldn’t appeal to everyone. After all, the cast of Selling Sunset have been involved in some vicious arguments over the years. Luckily, Alanna had the support of her husband, Adam, to pursue the opportunity. “He was very helpful through the process and I think he was actually one reason why I felt very confident to be able to do it,” she told People. “I knew I had his support and I knew we’re a team through everything.”
The former model also noted that fellow cast members Chrishell Stause and Mary Bonnet helped her feel capable of embracing her role on the show. “I just kind of made a promise to myself to stay true to who I am and really stick up for the things that I believe in, but also not get involved with things that don’t involve me,” she told the outlet.
Alanna’s husband works in the hospitality industry.
As well as partially co-owning Pioneertown, Alanna and Adam Gold appear to be heavily involved in the hospitality industry. Both of their profiles link out to event venues and vacation rentals, while Adam’s profile notes he works in hospitality at private members’ club the Living Room.
Alanna has shared several loving tributes to her husband on Instagram. “Happy Birthday to this handsome man who I am so lucky to call my Husband,” Alanna wrote on June 30, 2023. “My partner, my best friend, my family, my rock. I love you - Can’t wait to see what this next year has in store.”
