Wonder spin-off White Bird is now streaming on Amazon Prime in the UK following some lengthy delays.
Released in 2017 and based on the novel by Rj Palacio, Wonder told the inspiring story of August Pullman, a boy with Treacher Collins Syndrome, which causes deformities of the face, and his attempts to fit it at high school. Written and directed by Perks Of Being A Wallflower scribe Stephen Chbosky and starring Jacob Tremblay, Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson, the film did good business, taking over $300 million on a $20 million budget.
This brings us to White Bird, not a direct sequel but a story set in the same universe, based on the graphic novel novel by Palacio, which was due to be released late last year. Bryce Gheisar played bully Julian in Wonder, and he reprises the role as we see what happened to him after being expelled for his horrific bullying of August.

Gillian Anderson played the skeptical Dana Scully for nine seasons of The X-Files, one of the popular and influential sci-fi series of the 1990s. She returned to play Scully in a pair of revival seasons in 2016 and 2018, but called it quits after that. In a lengthy conversation with X-Files co-star David Duchovny (Fox Mulder), Anderson explained why she no longer wanted to continue starring in the spooky series after the 11th season ended in 2018.
“The end was problematic," Anderson said on Duchovny's Fail Better podcast. "I mean, it was problematic storyline wise, particularly for [Anderson's character Dana] Scully. And I wasn’t really enjoying the direction that it was heading. It didn’t feel– and yet there was, I didn’t have a voice in it. As much as anything, I felt like I needed to move on to something where I might have more of a voice.”

No matter how fast women in Hollywood run, sexism seems to run faster. There are many actresses who are at the top of their game. They have success, glory, fame, legacy, and the money to gain as much respect as their male counterparts. However, their gender always seems to come in the way of them being perceived as equal.

If there’s one thing that can divide the anime fandoms, it’s the dub vs sub debate. Both factions can’t stand the other, and the arguments are severe enough to strain friendships. But you’ll be glad to know that Hayao Miyazaki doesn’t distinguish between them.

Women in entertainment are galvanized heading into 2025, the CEO of Women in Film and TV (Wftv) has said.
Ahead of the organization’s biggest night of the year on Friday at the Wftv Awards, Katie Bailiff sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about what’s being celebrated — and what’s still to be done — as they get ready to mark another year of supporting women in U.K. media.
“I think we’ve come a really long way,” Bailiff said, referencing the comments of U.K. MasterChef co-host Gregg Wallace, who attributed his on-set misconduct allegations to comments from “a handful of middle-class women of a certain age” (Wallace later apologized after sparking fury, but has denied the claims made against him).
“All you have to do is look at this past week, the phrase that’s become quite iconic already: ‘middle-class women of a certain age,'” Bailiff said.

You know the old saying about the truth being stranger than fiction? Well, it's certainly one that applies to the story of Raynor and Moth Winn, a couple who — after a business deal with a friend went awry — lost their home, suffered a devastating neurodegenerative condition diagnosis for husband Moth, and then decided to walk the 630-mile South West Coast Path despite having no prior rambling experience. It's a simultaneously harrowing and inspiring story that first became The Salt Path, a bestselling memoir-cum-travelogue for Raynor Winn, and is now about to become a major new film starring Jason Isaacs (Hello!) and Gillian Anderson. You can check out the newly released trailer below:

Count down to Christmas with favourites selected by Sean Baker, Gillian Anderson, John Waters, Mike Leigh, Gurinder Chadha, Will Sharpe and more
The Christmas movie has, in recent years, become its own industrial complex, algorithmically churned out by streaming services to hit various subscriber demographic sweet spots. Perhaps the seemingly disposable likes of Hot Frosty and Meet Me Next Christmas will be treasured for many Decembers to come, but they have a tough canon to crack, as represented by our all-star Advent calendar of festive movie favourites, chosen by some of the film industry’s best and brightest, invited by the Observer New Review to help our readers count down to the big day itself.
Some of the films here are as firmly entrenched in the season as mince pies and fir trees – who can argue with director Gurinder Chadha’s selection of It’s a Wonderful Life or actor Joe Alwyn’s of The Snowman?...

In the world of television, very few shows have achieved cult status like The X-Files has. The American science fiction drama series revolves around FBI special agents David Duchovny’s Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Dana Scully. While at its core is the brilliant dynamic between Mulder and Scully, behind the scenes, there is a stark reality of inequality.

Anderson, apparently, as is a frequent occurrence in the film industry, was paid significantly less than her male co-star and had to fight for equal pay.

When it comes to acting and professionalism, there are few as talented as Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny. The two have played the roles of Scully and Mulder for decades, on and off, having audiences hooked with the chemistry and intensity of their relationship. However, even casual fans of the series know about the beef between the two lead stars of X-Flies.

The best X-Files episodes combine Monster of the Week tales with alien mythology episodes to further the overarching story of the entire series. Chris Carter created The X-Files in 1993, and the show was an instant success, running for nine seasons before finally ending in 2002. The series stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as two FBI agents who take on cases involving paranormal phenomena. Mulder (Duchovny) is a believer, and Scully (Anderson) is a skeptic.
The series also received two movies and was picked up again for two more seasons in 2016 and 2018. While other FBI agents joined the show when Duchovny left the series, fans mostly focused on Mulder and Scully, and the best X-Files episodes are mostly centered on those two individuals, their relationship, and how they grew and developed as the show wore on. Whether hunting down monsters and saving people's lives or exploring government conspiracies involving alien invasions,...

This is probably going to make a lot of you feel very old, but by the time Tron: Ares is released next year, 15 years will have passed since Tron: Legacy took us back to the Grid (which itself was a follow-up to the original 1982 classic).
Can this third chapter, from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Rønning, live up to fan expectations? There's some uncertainty, particularly with Morbius and Suicide Squad star Jared Leto taking on the title role of Ares. However, the fact the Oscar winner is playing a program who leaves the Grid and enters the real world is undeniably intriguing.
Talking to Empire (via SFFGazette.com), Rønning addressed how the move from Daft Punk to Nine Inch Nails on the soundtrack is indicative of the sci-fi franchise's continued evolution.

Tron is today regarded as a cult classic, having been one of the most well-liked science fiction movies of its time when it debuted in 1982. Despite receiving mixed reviews for its 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy, Disney decided to go ahead and make another sequel. Tron: Ares will be the following film in the series and will be a stand-alone follow-up to the first two films.
We know that the movie will be led by Jared Leto, as well as that franchise veteran Jeff Bridges will also be coming back to the movie. On top of that, we have a lot of the casting information, as well as a trailer; this is all we have already reported on.
In light of that, director Joachim Rønning shared some updates on the movie, explaining that the film’s tone will change when compared to the previous films, and he also confirmed some exciting news about the music.

Tron: Ares director Joachim Rønning recently commemorated the wrapping of filming earlier this summer with some behind-the-scenes images and stating, “That’s a wrap on Tron: Ares. Thanks to an incredible and tireless crew, I really believe we pushed the filmmaking limits on this movie. Even through six weeks of night shoots you never slowed down. Also, a big thank you to our wonderful cast for leaving everything on screen. I can’t wait to show the world what we’ve done.” It was also revealed that Nine Inch Nails is scoring the film in place of the last film’s composers, Daft Punk.
Empire has recently shared a new picture from the upcoming Tron: Ares that teases more of Jared Leto’s character — the titular Ares. Additionally, Rønning has also explained more about his intended heavier score with Nine Inch Nails, saying, “With Nine Inch Nails making the music,...

The duo both won Golden Globes for their performances on the show, which has been widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential TV series of all-time. The show ended its initial run with season 9 in 2002, before both stars returned for The X-Files seasons 10 and 11 in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

Gillian Anderson opens up to David Duchovny about leaving The X-Files, as the two co-stars share a candid conversation. Anderson and Duchovny are television icons for their portrayals of Dana Scully and Fox Murder, respectively, with their off-screen relationship and thoughts on the series gaining just as much attention as their ongoing saga of aliens and government conspiracies. David Duchovny said he had a “failure of friendship” with “X-Files” co-star Gillian Anderson when the hit sci-fi series was at its peak in the 1990s.
On a Tuesday episode of his “Fail Better” podcast in which he’s joined by Anderson, Duchovny admitted that he thought the “trickiest” part of their conversation would be addressing what he called his “failure of friendship.”
“There was a long time, working on the show, where we were just not even dealing with one another off-camera,” Duchovny said.
He admitted that he wasn’t sure how the conversation would go when it came to discussing the period when they didn’t speak to each other outside of work.
“There was a lot of tension,” he said. “Which didn’t matter, apparently, for the work cause we’re both f–king crazy, I guess. We could just go out there and do what we needed to do.

Walt Disney Studios debuted another trailer for Tron: Ares at D23 yesterday afternoon, and while it's yet to leak online in its entirety, we do have a brief glimpse at what's to come in the latest instalment in the groundbreaking sci-fi franchise (via SFFGazette.com).
The movie is a follow-up to Disney's 1982 seminal science fiction film Tron and its 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy.
Many have questioned how wise it is to give Leto a lead role in a big budget movie after the critical and commercial response to Morbius. However, these few seconds of footage single him out as the lead and put the focus solely on the Oscar-winner as his character heads into The Grid.

There are many reasons actors might need to be kept apart on a set. Sometimes it's personal, but more often than not, it's a way to ensure the actors get more genuine reactions when their characters first meet onscreen. Keeping Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan separate on "Mary Queen of Scots" helped the pair create a much more emotionally charged scene when they filmed their onscreen meeting as the doomed Mary (Ronan) and her isolated and cold cousin Elizabeth (Robbie), but sometimes actors and their directors are looking for a very different kind of emotional charge.
In an oral history of Sofia Coppola's underrated historical drama "Marie Antoinette," actor Jamie Dornan revealed that he and star Kirsten Dunst, who plays the young German noblewoman who suddenly became the queen of France, didn't meet one another until they filmed their first scene together. It worked out beautifully because Dornan plays...

The Salt Path, released in 2024, tells the real-life story of Ray and Moth Winn, who lose everything after their bed and breakfast go bust. Directed by Marianne Elliott, it stars Gillian Anderson as Ray and Jason Isaacs as Moth. Facing homelessness and the devastating news of Moth’s terminal illness diagnosis, the couple embark on a journey along England’s rugged coastal path that will test their physical and emotional limits.
Traversing over six hundred miles, Ray and Moth confront unforgiving terrain, fickle weather, and unfriendly strangers. They battle tiredness, hunger, and the advance of Moth’s condition with nothing but backpacks and tents between them and the elements.
Yet amidst the hardship, fleeting acts of kindness offer hope and remind them of our shared humanity. Through their walk, Ray and Moth seem to find healing in each other and reconnection with the beauty of the natural world surrounding them.

Ian Katz has said there is “real buzz about Channel 4” within the UK’s drama production community since Ollie Madden took charge, while addressing why hit streaming drama The Gathering was axed.
Earlier today, it emerged that The Gathering from Line of Duty maker World Productions had been canceled after one season despite regularly being touted as one of the network’s top-rated dramas on its streaming platform.
Speaking at a Broadcasting Press Guild lunch in London, content boss Katz said The Gathering was “quietly a massive hit for us” and was “absolutely huge on streaming.” But he went on to say that it was “quite small” in terms of linear viewing and qualified that Madden – who now oversees film and TV drama for Channel 4 – had “other priorities and other shows he wants to make,” echoing remarks made earlier by the show’s EP Simon Heath, who runs World Productions.
