This year’s Academy Awards will mark the 23rd year there’s been a category for Best Animated Feature. The past winners have included a good mix of top earners (the first award went to Shrek!) and some more, shall we say, sophisticated choices. Indeed, last year, the prize went to Hayao Miyazaki, the grand master of Japanese animation, for The Boy and the Heron. Before that, Hollywood’s favorite kid-in-a-toy-store Guillermo del Toro won for his adaptation of Pinocchio. This year’s animation Academy Award is not as easy to predict as some other categories, but we’ve gone to the drawing board, and this is what we’ve sketched out.

First up is “Bonhoeffer” — the historical drama about the German theologian and anti-Nazi dissident Dietrich Bonhoeffer — on March 7 and “The King of Kings” — the upcoming animated film about Jesus Christ featuring the voices of Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman and Mark Hamill — on April 11.

If you come to pop culture prominence by playing a blood-thirsty homicidal clown, the Joker comparisons are bound to emerge at some point. For actor David Howard Thornton, the man who has played Art the Clown in Damien Leone's "Terrifier" saga since 2016, that's apparently a welcome development.

A new report from an insider suggested that Cavill is in talks with Lucasfilm to join the Star Wars franchise. Moreover, this isn’t the first time Cavill has been linked with the epic space opera saga. There are plenty of weird aliens roaming around the "Star Wars" universe, but one of the earliest ones the property introduced was the Tusken Raiders. The third season of Invincible premieres in just a couple weeks! Prime Video has thus far done a fantastic job adapting Robert Kirkman's vibrant superhero comic for the small screen. Part of that success can be chocked up to the incredible voice cast. Oscar nominee Steven Yuen plays Mark Grayson, aka Invincible, a teenager who's starting out into the exciting, violent world of superheroism. His father Omni-Man, the breakout character of the show, is played by gravel-voiced icon J. K. Simmons, and his mother Debbie by Emmy winner Sandra Oh. Other notable voices include Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen, Zachary Quinto, Walton Goggins, Zazie Beetz, Clancy Brown, Nicole Byer, Jason Mantzoukas, Jonathan Groff, Ben Schwartz, Sterling K. Brown and Family Matters' own Reginald VelJohnson.

It's an incredibly impressive cast for what at first glance might look like an updated version of the kinds of Saturday morning cartoons kids watched back in the day.

Doug Bradley (Hellraiser) and Jonathan Banks' (Breaking Bad) roles are being kept under wraps, but there's speculation that they'll play Brit and Conquest, respectively.

Brady Corbet’s “The Brutalist” sparked controversy over the weekend after it became more widely known that AI was used during postproduction for enhancing stars Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones’ Hungarian language dialogue. The subject of AI already puts many in Hollywood on edge, but it’s also being increasingly used in filmmaking. In this case, its use comes in a film that is considered among the Oscar frontrunners. But how was it actually used, and did the use of AI influence the performances in any way?

Writer-director Corbet was quick to release a statement, saying that it did not. “Adrien and Felicity’s performances are completely their own,” asserted Corbet as part of a statement to Variety. “They worked for months with dialect coach Tanera Marshall to perfect their accents. Innovative Respeecher technology was used in Hungarian language dialogue editing only, specifically to refine certain vowels and letters for accuracy.

Prime Video is rounding out its voice cast for Season 3 of its animated series Invincible, adding Aaron Paul, Simu Liu, Jonathan Banks, Kate Mara, Xolo Maridueña, John Dimaggio, Tzi Ma, Doug Bradley, and Christian Convery.
