A seventh season of the anthology series Black Mirror will be making its way to the Netflix streaming service sometime in 2025, and it has been previously revealed that Black Mirror season 7 will consist of six episodes, one of which will be a sequel to the popular season 4 episode USS Callister. Now, an image has made its way online that shows returning USS Callister cast member Cristin Milioti (who was recently seen in The Penguin) in the new episode. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.
Created and written by Charlie Brooker, Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia leading to an unforgettable – and sometimes unsettling – conclusion. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in...

Cristin Milioti broke out in a big way last year by playing mob heiress Sofia Falcone in The Penguin, but if you're a fan of Netflix's sci-fi anthology show Black Mirror, you already knew her. In the show's fourth season, she played Nanette, an employee at a video game company who's DNA was borrowed without her consent by her boss (Jesse Plemons), who then used it to create a digital copy of Nanette. In fact, he did that with several coworkers, whom he recast as crew members on the USS Callister. Inside a digital world, he used these people to play out his Star Trek fantasies.
The resulting episode, "USS Callister," was a disturbing, hilarious story about high tech slavery. It was so popular that the upcoming seventh season of Black Mirror will feature a direct sequel episode, something the show has never done before. Milioti will return as Nanette,...

In the ongoing streaming wars and the endless discussions about the state of the entertainment industry that they've sparked, NBCUniversal's Peacock has become something of a contentious topic, if not an outright comedic punching bag -- with even Nikki Glaser's opening monologue at the 2025 Golden Globes joking that "The Day of the Jackal" is "about a top secret elite sniper that no one can find 'cause he's on Peacock." Nevertheless, the American streamer counts over 30 million subscribers, and jokes aside, those subscribers actually do have quite a plentiful offer of great television available at their fingertips.
Here, we've ranked the 15 best shows that Peacock subscribers can press "Play" on right now, including classics and gems from both sides of the pond and all eras of television. You'll find something for everybody, even if each show listed here is worth watching in its own right.

“Succession” creator Jesse Armstrong has found his next project: an original movie for HBO Films.
The seven-time Emmy winner is teaming up with “Succession” executive producer Frank Rich for the project, which is said to focus on four friends who convene during a dramatic international financial crisis, Variety has confirmed. Both Armstrong and Frank are under overall deals at HBO.
Armstrong is currently writing the script, with a production start eyed for later this year. The studio is already out to actors to check availabilities.
“Succession” ended its four-season run in 2022. In telling the story of the fictional Roy family and the battle for control over its media empire, the show became one of the most acclaimed television series of the 21st century, winning 19 Emmys, including three for best drama series. James Gunn is putting on a pair of red pants, grabbing the Lasso of Truth, and lighting up the Bat-Signal, as the man behind Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy gets to work building a new DC Cinematic Universe alongside producer Peter Safran. The pair have unveiled some of their plans for this Phase 1 of this new endeavor, which they're calling, "Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.” Gunn has worked with DC characters before, having helmed 2021’s The Suicide Squad and the John Cena-led Peacemaker TV series.
Despite some confusion about what parts of the old Dceu — the one developed by Zack Snyder in movies like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman — are coming over to the Dcu, Gunn has made it clear that the animated show Creature Commandos is the official starting point for his continuity. 2024 was an amazing year for Apple TV+ shows with the release of Criminal Record, which has an impressive 90% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes. It's surprisingly good, and within days of the last episode airing on the Ott platform, there were discussions among fans about the future of Criminal Records and its potential renewal. While there have been better seasons of television in recent years, few crime thrillers pique viewers' interests like Criminal Records does.
Despite the producers and the network taking some reasonable time, within a little over six months of the airing of the final episode of Season 1, Criminal Records Season 2 was officially confirmed by Apple TV+. The high-stakes thriller with dark characters and unexpected twists will be back to entertain viewers in 2025 as well. Two cosplayers create a first-time encounter between the Thirteenth Doctor and her Weeping Angel-self from Doctor Who season 13. Jodie Whittaker became the first female actor to play the Time Lord in 2017 following Peter Capaldi's departure from the role and portrayed the character for five years across three seasons and a number of holiday specials. In Whittaker's final full season, the Thirteenth Doctor had a fateful encounter with the Weeping Angels in "Village of the Angels," leading to a chilling cliffhanger.
As @thats.so.cosplay attended the Chicago Tardis convention, she joined forces with fellow Thirteenth Doctor cosplayer Katie Haynes for a short video featuring their fantastic renditions of the Time Lord. As the former stood in the all-too-familiar Weeping Angel pose while wearing her incredibly detailed cosplay, Haynes embodied the Time Lord and acted out Whittaker's character reacting to her transformed self. Since "The Church on Ruby Road" resurrected the tradition of the Doctor Who Christmas special in 2024, "Joy to the World" has continued to add to the category of episodes. Doctor Who's modern era began in 2005 when Russell T. Davies revived the show. Before then, there had only ever been one Christmas special, the First Doctor (William Hartnell) episode "The Feast of Steven", which aired on Christmas Day, 1965. 40 years later, David Tennant's Doctor Who debut, "The Christmas Invasion" established the annual tradition of the festive special, something which has been brought back by returning showrunner Russell T. Davies.
During the Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall era, the BBC took a different approach to the traditional Doctor Who Christmas special by releasing it on New Year's Day. Chris Chibnall's Dalek trilogy was far different in tone from both the overtly festive spectacle of Davies and the wintry melancholy of Steven Moffat.

TV show romance can be hard to pull off, as fans have polarizing opinions about what characters should end up together. However, it's always gratifying when an unexpected romance turns out to be a hit with fans, proving that the characters have a spark. Whether it's an enemies-to-lovers relationship or the two characters seem like polar opposites, the last thing any viewer thinks is that these people would get together and that the romance would be good for them. However, it's often the most unpredictable romance that turns out to be the most effective.
However, in some cases, audiences did see these relationships coming and opposed them from the beginning because they felt the characters didn't fit together. While some TV show couples never should have dated, these couples successfully proved audiences wrong by overcoming their differences and making amends for the ways they hurt each other in the past.

Audiences often generate their own assumptions about certain movies before they even watch them, but some movies surpass all expectations and become classics. A troubled production is often an indicator that a movie will end up as a flop, but behind-the-scenes drama doesn't always derail a movie. Classics like The Godfather and Dirty Dancing were almost shut down, and it's a wonder that they ever got finished.
In other cases, audiences can form opinions about a movie before watching it, only for the movie to pack a surprising punch. For example, Titanic was seen as an expensive gamble by a director with no experience making period romances, and Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy was initially derided as an ill-judged attempt to film Tolkien's unfilmable novels. Ultimately, movies shouldn't be judged before people watch them, because some of them can overcome the odds.

Over the years, Doctor Who has introduced countless villains, from Daleks and Cybermen to Sontarans and even the Time Lords. But one antagonist has been quietly lurking in the background for two decades: the Villengard Corporation.
Created by Steven Moffat in the 2005 stories ‘The Empty Child’ and ‘The Doctor Dances,’ this intergalactic weapons manufacturer and tech giant has returned to take center stage in the latest Christmas Special, Joy to the World.
Villengard wasn’t originally planned to be such a big deal. Moffat himself admitted in the latest issue of the Doctor Who Magazine, ‘It was just a throwaway line about bananas.’ The Ninth Doctor casually mentioned that he’d already destroyed Villengard, suggesting it was a long-closed chapter.
Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor revisited the ruins briefly in ‘Twice Upon a Time,’ and the corporation also popped up in Boom with its shady medical schemes. But over time,...

The Doctor Who franchise is one that has run for a very long time, and only some seasons have really reached the level of greatness that the show is so well-known for. This wealth of content has been great for long-time fans, but it also makes it difficult for new fans to find the right place to jump in and start watching. This is only made more difficult because Doctor Who has so many spin-off series, with some of these series being better than others.
A variety of different factors go into making a season better than the rest, including the characters included and the season and the stories told as the show goes on. The ambitious Doctor Who companions make a big impact as well, with their personalities playing off of The Doctor in each episode. While no season is safe from bad episodes, some have many more good episodes than bad ones.

Warning: spoilers ahead for Doctor Who's "Joy to the World"
Steven Moffat couldn't resist a parting joke at his own expense in Doctor Who's 2024 Christmas special. As the writer responsible for 1999 Comic Relief skit The Curse of Fatal Death, Moffat's long-running association with Doctor Who began before the British sci-fi franchise even embarked upon its modern era. British actress Sethu is already known to Doctor Who fans, as she appeared in the 2024 episode “Boom,” written by former showrunner Steven Moffat, who returned to write “Joy to the World.” Sethu played a character called Mundy Flynn. However this time, Sethu will be playing Belinda Chandra. Will the two be related? Only time will tell, as the preview keeps that secret.

In its long, long history, Doctor Who has naturally had numerous spinoffs, but not all of those spinoffs are created equal, with some being far superior to the rest. The universe continues to expand, too, with another Doctor Who spinoff, The War Between the Land and the Sea, having wrapped filming and set for release in 2025. The story will follow the battle between Unit and old Doctor Who foe the Sea Devils. It's just one of many Doctor Who spinoffs planned in the next few years.
With a franchise as sprawling as Doctor Who, the continuity issue of what's canon and what's not is incredibly messy. Spinoffs, tie-ins, non-canonical series, mini webisodes, radio plays, and more have all added to the lore, and it's not always clear what's considered official canon – in the case of Doctor Who, with its wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey nature, it could all be considered part of the lore.

Doctor Who has completely rewritten the Second Doctor’s regeneration, in the most incredible way. The official launch of the “Whoniverse” was accompanied by an edited, recolorized version of “The Daleks,” a classic William Hartnell story. This time round, it was the turn of the 1969 epic “The War Games,” the final story of Second Doctor Patrick Troughton.
The colorization is absolutely incredible. The edit is a little more debatable; “The War Games” was originally ten episodes long, so a 90-minute cut was always going to be difficult. Still, the most remarkable thing of all is the regeneration - one enforced by the Time Lords. This version has been edited smartly, making it something completely new.

While his appearances in Bridgerton and Wicked have made him a household name, Russell T Davies hopes to bring Jonathan Bailey to Doctor Who in an all-new role. Somehow, it’s been half a year already since Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor last graced our screens. In all fairness, though, having just stopped Jackal God Sutekh from delivering his dust of death to the universe and bid his bestie Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) an emotional farewell in Doctor Who series finale ‘Empire Of Death’, everybody’s favourite two-hearted Time Lord had more than earned some time off. Aptly then, ‘Joy To The World’ — an absolute treat of a Christmas special, poured from the pen of former showrunner Steven Moffat — sends the Doctor off to a luxury hotel for some well-deserved R&r… and a spot of planet-saving with Nicola Coughlan. Naturally.

Peter Capaldi's tenure as the Twelfth Doctor on Doctor Who remains one of the boldest eras of the modern series. With his piercing stare, fiery speeches, and guitar-wielding swagger, Capaldi brought an iconoclastic charm to the Time Lord that resonated with those of us who loved a grittier, more introspective Doctor. Yet, when expressions of nostalgia creep up among fans (myself included), the bittersweet truth emerges — Capaldi’s reluctance to return to Doctor Who may deny us the chance to see him in the part again.
In December 2024, Capaldi said: "I'm still a huge fan of Doctor Who. It's not that I have anything against it, but there comes a time when you have to leave things alone. I can't imagine the situation in which I'd be able to go back into it with enough influence over how it was going to be." While I can’t help but find this stance disappointing,...

2024 hasn’t been that great of a year for Prime Video, as the second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power failed to make up for its abysmal first season and continued its streak of huge disappointment. That doesn’t mean there were no great shows on Prime Video this year. So, we compiled a list comprising the 10 best original prime video shows of 2024.

Peter Capaldi’s stance on a possible return to Doctor Who places him in the same boat as Tom Baker and Christopher Eccleston. Peter Capaldi joined a long line of actors who played “Doctor Who” as he appeared in the British sci-fi show from 2014-2017 as the Twelfth Doctor. As of 2024, the Time Lord has gone through three regenerations since, and Ncuti Gatwa was cast as the Fifteenth Doctor for season 14. Considering most actors can only dream of playing the famous character, it is surprising that Peter Capaldi has stated that he doesn’t want to return to Doctor Who.
Doctor Who is confirmed to return for season 15 in May 2025 under its new network, Disney+. The show previously aired on BBC from 2005 onwards and encompassed the reign of Peter Capaldi, who delivered the oldest version of the Doctor since Classic Doctor Who. Peter Capaldi portrayed the 12th Doctor in 39 episodes of Doctor Who, from 2013 to 2017. His run was a mixed bag, but fans still look back on his era with good memories. And unlike previous Doctors David Tennant and Matt Smith, Capaldi has not reprised his role for a cameo since leaving, and he doesn't really have any inclination to do so.
What Capaldi has over other Doctors is a rich history of playing other characters throughout the Whoniverse. Way back in 2008, he played Roman merchant Caecilius in "The Fires of Pompeii," opposite David Tennant's version of the Doctor. And then a year later he played key character John Frobisher on spinoff series Torchwood: Children of Earth.
Given Capaldi's tendencies to keep coming back to Doctor Who, fans are hoping he'll one day make a triumphant return as the Doctor himself. In the Whoniverse, anything is possible. I mean, David Tennant returned...

Peter Capaldi, who portrayed the Twelfth Doctor in Doctor Who, has explained why he won't return to the show, despite other Doctors reprising their roles. Throughout the show's history, multiple Doctors have come back into their roles, crossing over with other actors who now portray the main versions of their characters. This includes the very last episode Capaldi appeared in, 2017's "Twice Upon a Time," where David Bradley took on the role of the First Doctor (originally portrayed by William Hartnell). This means there is still room for his Doctor to come back if he wanted to reprise the role.
However, speaking with Hello!, Capaldi revealed he wasn't interested in coming back as the Twelfth Doctor in future Doctor Who episodes. While clarifying that he has nothing against the show and still considers himself "a huge fan," the actor explained that he believed it would be better for his character to rest.

A recent trend that has been appearing in many popular movies and TV shows is the idea of alternate universes; that is, different realities which contrast heavily with the established world thanks to at least one key change occurring somewhere in the past. Movies like Everything Everywhere All at Once and Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have dedicated themselves to diving deep into the idea, exploring numerous alternate realities that could have existed just as easily as the ones the characters live in.
However, while many major motion pictures have been entirely focused on this idea, there are also numerous TV shows that have diverged from their main narrative in order to consider alternate realities as well. After all, it can be very enjoyable for the creators and actors of the show to consider how different the lives of their characters could have been. While they all approach the subject in different ways,...

Satirist and The Death Of Stalin writer-director Armando Iannucci will take aim at social media in his next film.
Writer, director and satirist Armando Iannucci has revealed that his next film will poke fun at social media. The project will see him team up with Jon Brown, with whom he previously worked on TV comedy series The Franchise, a satire of superhero movie-making. According to Chortle, Iannucci said on Daniel Merrifield’s The Movie Dweeb podcast, “I’m always interested in where power and influence is, so social media is something actually that Jon [Brown] and I have been working on together, on a film script, which we hope to shoot next year”.
Ianucci went on to say that it would be “set in that world of that next generation of your Zuckerbergs, your Musks and Peter Thiels, and all those people’ – referring to the founder of Facebook, owner of X and Facebook investor respectively.

Ever since Doctor Who returned to screens in 2005, the show's modern era has largely stuck to a common post-regeneration rule, but Peter Capaldi strayed from this trend when he took on the role of the Twelfth Doctor. As one of two main Doctors to serve under showrunner Steven Moffat, Capaldi debuted as the show's title character in 2013, before making his first full appearance in 2014 and leaving in 2017. Twelve is remembered for his blunt personality and thick Scottish accent, but his legacy also includes a canonical occurrence that hadn't happened since Doctor Who's classic era.
Doctor Who's modern era brought the franchise out of dormancy for the first time since Paul McGann's failed 1996 movie. With the introduction of Ncuti Gatwa as FIfteen in 2023, there have been six main actors to play the part since Doctor Who returned. However, of all the actors to play the Doctor since the revival,...

Banijay Rights has teamed up with Twisted comics to turn selected Black Mirror storylines into comic books.
Black Mirror season seven is currently in the works, but Charlie Brooker’s cult series is about to leap off the screen, too.
Banijay Rights has teamed up with Twisted Comics to bring some of the series’ storylines from the screen to the page, as reported by Deadline. Twisted Comics will be creating “immersive comic books comprising iconic Black Mirror storylines” that will be available in mid-2025.
“It has long been a dream of mine to extend Black Mirror – one of my ‘hero brands’ – into comic book form. Now that dream is a reality, and I believe fans of the show will love what we are planning. Watch this space,” said Neil Gibson, the founder of Twisted Comics.
A dedicated website will go up in early 2025, and fans will be able to pre-order the books.

Comedy movies often have dance scenes to provide a hilarious change of pace, and the funniest dances can make their movies stand out. Dancing can be a language that everyone understands, which makes it perfect for comedy. It provides a great opportunity for physical comedy. Often, this is when dancers are laughably bad, but it can sometimes be even funnier to see a truly skilled performer in the right context.
Some of the best dance numbers in movies can make audiences laugh. It's a joy to watch talented dancers when they use their skills for comedy. This can be funny in and of itself, since it seems like such a humorous waste of time and talent. Comedic dance scenes also manage to break up the pace and tone of a movie, which is often hilarious. The funniest dance scenes are usually the ones which come out of nowhere.

It's sadly all too common for sequels to fail to live up to the quality of their predecessors, but some have achieved critical success by building on the original movie. Only a few sequels have managed to surpass the movies that came before them on Rotten Tomatoes. In most cases, franchises tend to see a drop-off in quality after the first movie. This has happened with Men in Black, Ghostbusters, The Avengers and countless others. Even great sequels like The Godfather Part II don't necessarily top the movies that came before them on Rotten Tomatoes.
Many highly anticipated sequels flop hard, because the high expectations from the first movies make it difficult to succeed. Making a sequel is always a risk, because fans want to see something new and inventive, but the movie also has to stick to what makes the original so popular. [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Devil’s Hour Season 2.] One of the trippiest shows on TV returned with an even wilder second season: The Devil’s Hour, starring Peter Capaldi and Jessica Raine and diving deep into past lives and who does and doesn’t remember theirs. To prevent a bombing, Gideon (Capaldi) wants them to reset (which means dying), but Lucy (Raine) protests, bringing up her son, Isaac (Benjamin Chivers). Still, Gideon triggers the reset, shooting Lucy. One of them does see the other’s perspective, the stars tell TV Insider in the video interview above. “I think Lucy’s still hanging on to some semblance of, ‘I have a son, I have a life,'” says Raine. “We’ve shot Season 3 now, and Season 2 is a kind of a bridge, I think, from Lucy becoming pretty normal to becoming more like Gideon in Season 1 and focused, potentially looking insane to people, but doesn’t care.

The Devil's Hour (2022)is a dark psychological thriller series in which a woman wakes up every night at exactly 3:33am, in the middle of the devil's hour. The reason is slowly revealed in the first season, with the series continuing in season 2. This time, Lucy (Jessica Raine) and Gideon (Peter Capaldi) must form an uneasy alliance in order to prevent a recurring tragedy and hunt down an elusive monster.

One of the Doctor's most well-known foes is set to receive a new origin, as Big Finish is set to adapt the upcoming audio drama Doctor Who: Genesis of the Cybermen. The cyborg foes stripped of all their emotions made their debut in William Hartnell's final story as the First Doctor, The Tenth Planet, in 1966. While the Cybermen haven't been seen on-screen since Jodie Whittaker's final adventure, The Power of the Doctor, an older, once-scrapped tale has been given new life in the form of a new Big Finish audio drama set to release in March 2025. Published under The Lost Stories range, Genesis of the Cybermen will see the Fifth Doctor (Peter Davidson), Tegan (Janet Fielding...
