The California wildfires have disrupted the lives of thousands, and unfortunately, Cowboy Bebop star Melissa Fahn is now counted among those who've lost everything. Fans are banding together, however, to help Fahn get back on her feet with a GoFundMe campaign.
Melissa Fahn is a long-time voice actor, most famously known for voicing the young hacker Edward on Cowboy Bebop. Fahn has contributed her voice to countless other characters as well, including anime characters like Naruto's daughter Himawari in Boruto or Rika Nonaka in Digimon Tamers, and Western animation characters like Gaz Membrane of Invader Zim. Her career is nothing short of amazing, having earned her fans all over. Now, those fans have a chance to repay her by assisting Fahn as she struggles to come back after her home was destroyed in the fires outside Los Angeles.

Cowboy Bebop has many classic episodes due to the series' overall quality, although one such episode was almost completely different in the original pitch. The final version of the episode, "Wild Horses," was actually banned for a brief time on Adult Swim, but it might not have been if the story had followed the first vision.
"Wild Horses" is the Cowboy Bebop episode featuring the Space Shuttle Columbia, which was pulled from airing in 2003 after the real life Space Shuttle Columbia was tragically destroyed during reentry. While they couldn't have known at the time the episode was made, it actually makes for a nice tribute to the first shuttle to reach space, giving the old girl one last adventure, even if it's only in animated form. However, it turns out that this episode may not have originally had anything to do with space shuttles at all.

Cowboy Bebop is hailed these days as one of the greatest anime ever made, but it turns out that anime was never series creator Shinichiro Watanabe's original passion. His first dream, which he never really achieved, does provide some insight into why his work is the way it is, however.
Shinichiro Watanabe is a man who's had an immeasurable influence on anime as a medium. Responsible for hit series like Samurai Champloo, Space Dandy, and, of course, Cowboy Bebop, Watanabe has made his career creating highly original works which all have one thing in common: brilliant use of music, which is heavily incorporated into the tone and atmosphere of these series. It's hard to imagine what any of these series would be like with a different soundtrack, and lots of careful consideration was put into the music in a way that other directors aren't always capable of.

Cowboy Bebop is considered one of the greatest anime of all time, but the series only came to be thanks to a variety of coincidences that opened up the opportunity for series creator Shinichiro Watanabe to make the kind of show he wanted. One key event might surprise fans, however, and that event happens to have been the release of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.
Cowboy Bebop was first released in April 1998, while The Phantom Menace didn't hit theaters until May 1999, so it might seem odd at first glance to think that the film had any influence on the anime series. However, The Phantom Menace was in development for quite a long time, and there was already buzz about the movie when filming first began in 1997. With the overwhelming success of the original Star Wars trilogy, fans and business people alike expected the same kind of pop...

Cowboy Bebop's final title reflects the series' tone, while also referencing the characters and their ship. The original title was "Shooting Star Bebop," referencing the series' ending. Cowboy Bebop's final title is short, catchy, and unforgettable.
Cowboy Bebop is an iconic anime series, and its seemingly nonsensical title perfectly captures the tone of the anime. However, that almost wasn't the title at all, and the original title never would've conveyed the gritty, often dark and moody atmosphere of the series.
Cowboy Bebop's current title comes from the occupation of the main characters, bounty hunters who are referred to as "Cowboys," and the name of the ship that they all live on, the Bebop. The name also has a musical connotation from "Bebop" which fits well with the series' reliance on jazzy music for atmosphere and impact. At the other end of the spectrum is the "Cowboy" part,...

Many TV shows were canceled quickly due to poor ratings despite potential fan support. Some shows were canceled before completion due to production costs and delays. There is subjectivity in canceling shows, with some deserving it, while others represent untapped potential.
The TV industry has been known to cancel shows almost immediately, to the disappointment or relief of audiences. TV shows canceled after one season, or before the first season was even over, get to this point for multiple reasons. In most cases, the show wasn't that great and the network wasn't happy with the ratings, so they deemed finishing it wasn't worthwhile. However, some viewers will still vehemently defend canceled TV shows that were becoming great, highlighting some subjectivity in critics' opinions vs audiences'.
Additionally, shows may be canceled before the end of season 1 for reasons that don't have to do with quality. Studios contending with production costs and...

In the late 1990s, Bandai Entertainment and the Japanese animation studio Sunrise approached young director Shinichirō Watanabe to make a sci-fi action show (mostly so they could sell spaceship toys). Watanabe took that directive and led the creation of "Cowboy Bebop."
This 26-episode show followed down-on-their-luck bounty hunters in the year 2071, when mankind has colonized the solar system and left behind a ruined Earth. It brought Western and noir storytelling together into its sci-fi setting, fused with an existential mood and jazzy music composed by Yoko Kanno.
"Cowboy Bebop" first aired in Japan 25 years ago, from 1998 to 1999, and Bandai Entertainment soon imported it stateside, where it debuted on Cartoon Network block Adult Swim in 2001. If anything, it's become an even bigger (and more enduring) hit in the U.S. than in its homeland. A big reason for this popularity was because the English dub was excellent: The characters speaking the...

If you're a fan of Invader Zim, I'm sure you'll be happy to learn that Nickelodeon has teamed up with creator Jhonen Vasquez to develop a 90-minute TV movie. Invader Zim debuted on Nickelodeon in 2001 and followed the adventures of an extraterrestrial named Zim who was on a mission to conquer Earth and enslave the human race.
This was a great series that has a pretty big fanbase, but the series only last two seasons. The movie follows the "perpetually desperate and delusional Zim as he creates a new and potentially Earth-destroying plan to finally get the attention he deserves from his Irken leaders, the Almighty Tallest."
When talking about the project, Nickelodeon's Chris Viscardi had this to say:
“As a network that prides itself on a 25-year history of creating groundbreaking, hilarious animation for kids, Invader Zim is one of our great loves. It’s been so exciting to...
