Born in Seoul, Korea, and raised in Santa Monica, California, Mark's journey into the entertainment industry began during his senior year at Fordham University when he was personally scouted by the legendary Korean director, Sang-Ok Sheen (Simon Sheen), to work on Mayumi: Virgin Terrorist and the 3 Ninjas series. He later expanded his career into the theme park industry, serving as a project coordinator and manager for Landmark Entertainment Group and Disneyland and contributing to the sound engineering team for Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, and Jurassic Park: The Ride at Universal Studios, Hollywood.
From 1997 to 2002, Mark established himself as a respected Sound Editor and a member of the Motion Picture Sound Editors (MPSE), working on over 40 feature films including The Bourne Identity, Election, and Black Hawk Down. He collaborated with renowned directors such as Sam Raimi, Alexander Payne, Kathryn Bigelow, and Ridley Scott.
In addition to his work in film, Mark owned and operated The Korean Book and Toy Store from 2001 to 2015, where he honed his customer service skills, serving tens of thousands of clients.
Mark's influence also extends to film festivals. In 2012, he co-produced the Look East Festival, where Korean actors Lee Byung Hun and Ahn Sung Ki became the first Korean stars to have their hands and footprints immortalized at the Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
Since 2019, Mark has been deeply involved with the Asian World Film Festival (AWFF), starting as a guest, then volunteering, then quickly becoming a key figure in the organization. Today, he serves as the Program Director and Operations Supervisor, playing a vital role in the festival's screenings and special events throughout the year.
