Science fiction horror “Pandorum” should keep fans of the genre on the edge of their seats under the direction of “Antibodies” helmer Christian Alvart. Johnathan Mostow’s “Surrogates” is a sci-fi action movie with a killer idea, but I just don’t see it doing a whole lot of business when it opens later this week, September 25th, which coincidentally is also the same opening day for “Pandorum”. We’ve just received two brand new clips from sci-fi thriller Surrogates, starring Bruce Willis, Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, James Francis Ginty, Boris Kodjoe and Ving Rhames. The film is directed by Jonathan Mostow.

In the near future, humans live in isolation and only interact through robotic bodies that serve as surrogates. When several humans are murdered when their surrogates are destroyed, a cop (Bruce Willis) investigates the crimes through his own surrogate. After a near fatal encounter, the cop’s surrogate is destroyed and forces him to bring his human form out of isolation and unravel a conspiracy behind the crimes.

Robots can be a pretty scary thing, but not nearly as scary as Bruce Willis when he has something to prove. We all remember Die Hard. That seems to be the fight card for next week’s release of Surrogates: Bruce Willis vs. Robots. Who wouldn’t want to see John McClain fight Optimus Prime? Same concept.

It’s official – Bruce Willis has announced that he will be joining Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren and Steve Austin in The Expendables!

MTV quizzed the star about the casting news, but unfortunately Willis was cagey to say the least. The star admitted he hadn’t yet been given any dates for shooting, and when questioned about his role he told MTV he had no idea:

“I don’t know anything about [my character] yet, haven’t seen any pages yet,” Willis explained. “But I’m excited about it.”

Willis confirmed the role would include a scene with fellow Hollywood powerhouses Stallone and Schwarzenegger sharing some screen time:

“That’s the concept,” he said with a grin. “That’s the plan.”

The first trailer for Jonathan Mostow's upcoming sci-fi action flick "Surrogates" has debuted online, and you can check it out below. Robot flicks are all over the big-screen these days, and this one is no different: the film is set in a futuristic world where humans live in isolation and interact vicariously through surrogate robots. Bruce Willis plays a cop forced to leave his home for the first time in years to investigate the murders of some of these surrogates.

The cast also includes Ving Rhames, Radha Mitchell, Rosamund Pike, James Francis Ginty and Michael O'Toole. "Surrogates" is based on a graphic novel, and even though I can't say I'm overly excited about this first trailer, I still admit I'm curious to find out how intriguing the film is when it opens in theaters Sept. 25, 2009. An extended preview of Johnathan Mostow's cyberpunk mystery thriller, Surrogates, has appeared over at io9 and it's chock full of meaty footage from the film. While I really like the idea of the film - people using avatar robots to live their lives while they chill at home - I find that some of the footage looks a bit like a television show, almost similar in look and design to the recently released Caprica. Of course (and this taking into account that you can never really tell with internet clips), there's always the chance that Mostow was going for a Stepford Wives look - a too-perfect-to-be-true world that, when you scratch away the surface, is a dark and rotten dystopia.

Kevin Smith will direct his first major studio film called "A Couple of Cops" with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan in starring positions. Marc Platt produces the film which was initially titled "A Couple of Dicks." The story tells of two cops who must track down a stole baseball card, rescue beautiful Mexican woman and also deal with gangster and the laundering of drug money. Willis is up next in Disney’s “Surrogates” science fiction actioner written by Michael Ferris and John D. Brancato (“Terminator Salvation”).
