Everyone has done jobs they're not particularly proud of in their past. For actors, any of these past works are in the public eye, even if some go on to be largely forgotten. This includes the fan-favorite horror genre, from cheap, grindhouse and direct-to-video schlock to big-budget misfires. Beyond the quality of the movies, some actors just didn't have particularly pleasant experiences behind-the-scenes, leading them to distance themselves from their projects after completion. Every actor has a handful of films that they wish they hadn't signed on for, and with the benefit of hindsight, several have gone public with their regrets.

From established genre icons disappointed at their respective franchise returns to newcomers trying to get their start, horror has no shortage of movies Hollywood stars want off their resume. In a particular instance, one actor's horror movie experience led them to not only regret their participation, but quit acting altogether.

As the ’80s came to a close, so too did the first wave of the slasher cycle. While they would continue to be produced into the next decade, 1989 was the last gasp of a dying genre. Returning franchises and hopeful upstarts alike struggled to make an impact. We all know you can never really kill a slasher, but it would take Scream‘s reinvention of the concept in 1996 to renew broad interest.

Cutting Class, another ’89 entry in the subgenre, marked the directorial debut — and, as it turned out, sole directorial effort — from Rospo Pallenberg, who notably co-wrote Excalibur, contributed uncredited rewrites on Exorcist II: The Heretic, and served as a “creative associate” on Deliverance. Despite his pedigree, Pallenberg did not write the script; that was the work of Steve Slavkin, who would go on to create Nickelodeon’s pivotal series Salute Your Shorts.

Vinegar Syndrome is doing the dark lord’s work this Tuesday, as they are putting out four different titles, including Cutting Class, Splatter University, There’s Nothing Out There, and Uninvited. Severin is celebrating giallo filmmaking with their releases of All the Colors of Giallo and All the Colors of the Dark, Scream Factory is showing some love to Screamers, and if you missed it in theaters, you can also finally catch up with Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria on Blu-ray this week as well.

Drew McWeeny over at HitFix is reporting that David Yates and Steve Kloves, the director and writer team who collaborated on Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Parts I and II, will reteam for a cinematic adaptation of The Stand, Stephen King's epic novel of fantasy and horror depicting humankind's struggle to endure in a world ravaged by a virus and preyed upon by a dark figure known only as Randall Flagg (a.k.a. The Walkin' Dude).

Chicago – Linda Blair trades her celebrity for activism. Her WorldHeart Foundation is a literal pet project, as it rehabilitates neglected and abandoned animals on the streets of Los Angeles. Blair, best known for her unforgettable role as Regan in “The Exorcist,” recently appeared in Chicago at the Hollywood Celebrities & Memorabilia Show.

Linda Denise Blair was a child actor in the early 1970s when she beat out 600 applicants for the role of Regan in The Exorcist. Her portrayal of a little girl who was possessed by the devil was the sensation of the 1973 film year. She received a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress and an Academy Award nomination.

Her career since then has been checkered but has given her steady work. Notable roles after The Exorcist included the TV Movie “Born Innocent,” “Airport 1975” and a sequel that wasn’t as successful as the first, “Exorcist II: The Heretic.

Director Bryan "Superman Returns" Singer is attached to remake director John Boorman's 1981 fantasy feature "Excalibur" retelling the legend of 'King Arthur'.

The original "Excalibur" screenplay was written by Rospo Pallenberg and Boorman, as an adaptation of Malory's "Morte d'Arthur" (1469-70), with 'Arthur' presented as a 'wounded king', whose realm becomes a wasteland, then reborn thanks to the 'Grail'.

"The film has to do with mythical truth, not historical truth," Boorman said. "The coming of Christian man and the disappearance of the old religions which are represented by 'Merlin'. The forces of superstition and magic are swallowed up into the unconscious."

Several new elements were added to the film's story including 'King Uther' wielding the 'sword of power' before the birth of Arthur and and the concept of the world as 'the dragon'.

Music soundtrack is by Trevor Jones, including works from Carl Orff's "O Fortuna" played during battle sequences.
