Pernell was born in Los Angeles, California. He got his start in the industry in 1997 with Dimension Sound. He was employed at Dimension Sound for over 11 years. Pernell started as an expediter and soon became an assistant sound editor. He is well skilled in Pro Tools.

Pernell has since been employed by several studios including Disney, Sony, and Paramount. He is currently employed at Formosa Group.
