Almost every week, the cruise hosts new passengers (and new illnesses and ailments to deal with). Most of them are played by actors many will recognize in Doctor Odyssey.

Shining Vale has found a new streaming home. The Starz horror-comedy show, which was co-created by Jeff Astrof and Sharon Horgan, stars Courteney Cox as an author whose family moves to a new home where she is haunted by supernatural entities. The Shining Vale cast also includes Greg Kinnear, Gus Birney, Merrin Dungey, Dylan Gage, and Mira Sorvino. Less than three weeks after its season 2 finale, the show was cancelled, after which point it was removed from the Starz streaming service in its entirety.

Now, Shining Vale has appeared in the Max library. Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper quickly jumped into their old rapport during CNN’s “New Year’s Eve Live” on Tuesday, with the two hosts and real-life BFFs teasing each other and breaking out the booze.

Cohen excitedly brought tequila to take a shot at the top of every hour with Cooper. While Cooper, a light drinker, took the first shot in stride, the second one left him gasping for air.

The hosts remained jovial during the show, talking about having giggle fits during commercial breaks and FaceTiming with Hoda Kotb, who was hosting NBC’s New Year’s Eve special, “A Toast to 2024.”

A silly second-hour costume contest, set in front of the duo’s Madame Tussauds wax figures, featured a series of 2024 pop culture get-ups — including pygmy hippopotamus Moo Deng, viral French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati and a sad Glasgow Oompa Loompa — which left Cooper in a fit of giggles.

This year will mark the eighth consecutive year the friends have co-hosted the event, leading the network’s global audience into the new year live from New York City’s Times Square. And this year, they will be drinking, the Watch What Happens Live host confirmed in October.

CNN correspondents will kick off live coverage of the clock striking midnight around the world at 7 a.m. Et on Dec. 31. Reporters will be live from Paris, London, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Dubai, Seoul, South Korea, Athens, Greece and more.

Episode 4, titled “Wellness Week,” followed as Dr. Max Bankman (Joshua Jackson) and his team dealt with shenanigans from the alternative medicine community, who boarded the ship for the week led by guest stars Amy Sedaris, Margaret Cho and Kate Berlant. The episode also introduced chef Vivian Montgomery (Laura Harrier), a reality TV show winner who was working for Sedaris’ character and quickly sparked a connection with nurse Tristan Silva (Sean Teale).

“Vivian is a wonderful character and she’s joined us for the foreseeable future — I don’t know how long. I’m not allowed to say — but it’s lovely,” Teale told TheWrap of his character’s new love interest. “There’s something for Tristan’s logical and loving mind to pursue.

Doctor Odyssey Episode 4 features an exciting collection of guest stars, such as Rick Cosnett (The Flash), Amy Sedaris (The Mandalorian), and Margaret Cho (All American Girls). 

"Wellness Week" sees the medical team dealing with a surge of patients including one of their own as Captain Johnson tries to maneuver the Odyssey out of harm's eye after noticing that the ship is literally at the eye of a hurricane.

Paramount is making some big shifts on its 2025 release calendar, the biggest title dated being Edgar Wright’s reboot of The Running Man starring Glen Powell. The pic is going the Friday before Thanksgiving next year, on November 21.

Running Man will race against Wicked: Part Two on that date as well as Angel Studios’ David and a Warner Bros event movie.

In regards to this year, Paramount also said Friday that its awards-season contender September 5 is now opening November 29 limited before getting a December 13 expansion. Previously, the pic that world premiered at the Venice and Telluride film festivals was set to go on November 27. The Tim Fehlbaum-directed movie starring Peter Sarsgaard, John Magaro, Ben Chaplin and Leonie Benesch depicts what happened with the ABC Sports TV control booth had to contend with a live act of terrorism during the 1972 Munich Olympics.

After stealing the hearts of rom-com fans, tornado enthusiasts and hitmen this year, Glen Powell finally has his next major role dated for 2025.

He’ll star in director Edgar Wright’s remake of “The Running Man,” which is being released by Paramount on Nov. 21, 2025, the company announced Friday. Powell is taking on the role originated by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 action film, based on the novel by Stephen King. The film takes place in a dystopian future where a TV show follows criminal “runners” escape professional killers.

Paramount shuffled the dates for several other 2025 films. The “Naked Gun” reboot, starring Liam Neeson, has moved from July 18 to August 1. The cast includes Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, Liza Koshy, Cody Rhodes, Cch Pounder and Busta Rhymes. While the "Frasier" revival continues to give the impression that it should have been a one-off special, you can't fault the series for its guest appearances. The first season brought back several big names from the original sitcom, which ran from 1993 to 2004, including Peri Gilpin's Roz Doyle and Bebe Neuwirth's Lilith Sternin. What's more, it also featured some guest stars who weren't "Frasier" alums. The revival tapped modern sitcom royalty in the form of June Diane Raphael for one episode and even brought in a cartoon comedy king for another.

The team behind “BoJack Horseman” is reuniting for a new adult animated series at Netflix, Variety has learned.

“BoJack” creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, Michael Eisner’s Tornante Company, and animation house ShadowMachine are back together for the series “Long Story Short.” The news comes on the 10th anniversary of the premiere of “BoJack” on Netflix.
