Lino Stavole was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1972. He served in the army in
heavy demolitions and explosives and took his knowledge into
independent film pyrotechnics and started performing special effects
for films throughout the Midwest. He studied Theater and Film design at
the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio. There, he decided to
emphasize more on art and the mechanical and soon started working for
illusionist Owen Redwine building illusions and magic tricks at Redwine
Magic. His unique interests push him into renowned sculptor Thomas
Kuebler and he worked as his assistant then as production coordinator
at a unique animatronics company called Lifeformations Inc. In 2001 he
moved to Los Angeles and formed The Creature Company. In 2004 he worked
at KNB Effects Studio on a myriad of projects and was extensively
influenced by special effects makeup gurus Greg Nicotero and Howard
Berger. It was about that time when his interest in art and technology
developed even more and he started working with 3d scanning, rapid
manufacturing technologies, and digital modeling for the physical
makeup effects industry. Lino is considered one of the innovators of
new technologies in this facet and speaks frequently for the Society of
Manufacturing Engineers on new 3d imaging and rapid manufacturing
technology in the entertainment industry. Stavole currently works with
the industry's best artisans and craftsmen at The Creature Company to
provide excellent special effects for an ever changing industry.
