Creator, writer and director of the short film Lake Erie, a 2D-animated ghost story produced by WildBrain Studios, John Vassallo has been a passionate creator and leader in the animation industry for almost two decades. His work has appeared in some of the world's most successful and beloved animated feature films, including Vivo, Angry Birds 2, Smallfoot, Hotel Transylvania (1 & 2), Storks, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, Big Hero 6, Legend of the Guardians and many others. Originally from Detroit, John studied animation locally at the College for Creative Studies Arts and VFX at Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Los Angeles. Now based in Vancouver, he is Creative Director of Animation at WildBrain Studios, one of the foremost producers of kids' and family content.
