Every season, plenty of anime shows and films are met with hype to incredible degrees. Whether it’s because of the popularity of the source material, the pedigree of the staff and studio, or some combination of the two, some anime will stand out more than others, and those that do are often the ones that are the best to watch in their respective seasons.

DC Comics is joining forces with Emmy award-winning developer Genvid Entertainment on “DC Heroes United,” a weekly interactive series that will premiere Nov. 21 on Tubi, DC.com, DC’s official YouTube channel and the ‘DC Heroes United’ app.

Set on Earth-212, the show will follow the birth of the Justice League and classic DC characters, including Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman and more. The voice cast includes Aleks Le (“Demon Slayer” and “Persona 3 Reload”) as Batman and YouTube singer AmaLee as Black Canary.

“We are at the dawn of superheroes. The Tower of Fate will suddenly fall onto Gotham City, and heroes will meet for the first time,” AmaLee says in the trailer. “Each week will bring a new half-hour episode with three to five different decisions for the audience to make together. You’ll be asked to make choices about how Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman should behave, and these choices will affect other characters.

Back in November 2022, Anime Limited announced plans to bring the A Place Further Than the Universe anime to home video in North America, complete with the original Japanese audio and a brand new English dub. Now a date has been set, with Anime Limited and Shout! Studios bringing the series home in a collector's edition set on April 22, 2024. In addition to the 13-episode series, the collector's edition packs a 92-page booklet, two-disc soundtrack, poster and four art cards. On-disc extras include clean versions of the opening and ending and a making of featurette for the English dub. Melissa Joan Hart recalled the horrific scene she witnessed in the aftermath of the most recent mass shooting, this time in Nashville, Tennessee, where three children and three adults died when a shooter opened fire at the Covenant Presbyterian School.

The “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” star took to her “What Women Bridge” podcast on Wednesday and explained exactly what she witnessed on Monday at the school “right next” to the one where her three children — ages 10, 15, and 17 — attend. Melissa Joan Hart recounted her experience attempting to help students fleeing a school shooter in Nashville, one of the most difficult things the actress says she’s ever seen.

For the latest episode of her What Women Binge podcast, Hart and co-host Amanda Lee shared details about their experiences Monday when police and emergency responders took over the area surrounding The Covenant School, a private Presbyterian parochial school, where a shooter killed three children and three adults.

Hart and Lee noted that they were respectively on their way to their children’s schools, which were close by, for conferences or already there when they began to encounter or see on the news the local authorities’ response to the active shooter situation. Released theatrically in English on November 4th, One Piece Film: Red follows Luffy and the Straw Hat pirates as they go to attend a concert by pop-idol Uta. Much to the surprise of the other Straw Hats, Luffy reveals that Uta is not only his childhood friend but also Shanks' daughter.

Unfortunately, Uta and Shanks didn't part ways on the best terms, with the red-haired pirate trusting the protection of his daughter to a mysterious man named Gordon. With these characters having implications for Luffy and the other Straw Hats even beyond Red, fans have been dying to know more about Uta and Gordon.

"One Piece" is a sprawling franchise of nearly 25 years, kicking off with Eiichiro Oda's Weekly Shōnen Jump manga in July 1997 before getting a rollicking anime adaptation from Toei Animation. The manga series is known for breaking the World Guinness Record for most printed comic series by one author. "One Piece" follows the Straw Hat gang, lead by Monkey D. Luffy (Colleen Clinkenbeard), whose consumption of a Devil Fruit granted him awesome stretchy powers. Luffy is on a long quest to find the legendary One Piece treasure and claim the King of the Pirates throne.

Now "One Piece" is sailing toward its final arc just when you thought the voyage could go on forever in the endless sea. Commemorating the 1000th anime episode and sending signals of the end is another one of its theatrically released features, "One Piece Film: Red."
