John Early and Olga Merediz have joined the cast of A24’s “Eternity.”

The romantic comedy, in which people must decide who they want to spend eternity with, also stars Miles Teller (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Elizabeth Olsen (“WandaVision”), Callum Turner (“Masters of the Air”) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“The Holdovers”).

David Freyne is directing the movie; Pat Cunnane (“Designated Survivor”) wrote the script, which appeared on the 2022 Black List.

Recently crowned Oscar winner Da’Vine Joy Randolph has joined the cast of A24’s upcoming romantic comedy “Eternity,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Directed by David Freyne, the film also stars Miles Teller (“Top Gun: Maverick”), Elizabeth Olsen (“WandaVision”) and Callum Turner (“Masters of the Air”). This project marks Randolph’s first feature film with A24.

The plot of “Eternity” remains under wraps, but it is described as a romantic comedy in which characters must decide who they want to spend eternity with. Patrick Cunnane, who wrote the screenplay and appeared on the 2022 Black List, is best known for penning the TV thriller “Designated Survivor,” starring Kiefer Sutherland.

A24 is financing the film and partnering with Oscar-nominated producers Trevor White and Tim White (“King Richard”) under their production company Star Thrower Entertainment. Olsen and Teller will also serve as executive producers. “Eternity” is set to begin production this summer.

Let the Evil Go West follows a railroad worker who stumbles upon a fortune under deeply disturbing circumstances. As horrifying visions and manifestations drive him toward madness, his wife becomes convinced that an evil presence has attached itself to their family.

Xc Vs penned the script. Tim and Trevor White are producing under their Star Thrower Entertainment banner, alongside Mark Fasano and Nathan Klingher for Gramercy Park Media, which is also financing the film, and Allan Mandelbaum.

Last month, we reported that David Freyne was set to direct a dystopian-type rom-com with A24 and that the movie was going to be titled Eternity. The story of the movie was described as a “romantic comedy where everyone must decide who they want to spend eternity with,” with the script being written by former Obama aide Pat Cunnane. At the time, this was all the official information we actually had about the upcoming movie, as a production date had not been revealed; a release window had not been revealed either.

But, it seems that A24 is fast-tracking the movie, as some new information about it has appeared. First of all, we know that Oscar-nominated producers Trevor White and Tim White from Star Thrower Entertainment will produce the film for A24, and it seems that we have a confirmed cast, as well as a filming date at this moment.

The 10 rising actors selected for this year’s European Shooting Stars has been unveiled and will be showcased online for the first time as a result of the pandemic.

European Film Promotion (Efp) usually provides a high-profile platform for emerging talent at the Berlinale, introducing young actors to international casting directors, producers and filmmakers at the festival.

European Film Promotion has revealed the 10 actors who will take part in the 24th edition of European Shooting Stars. The program, which launches emerging European thespians onto the world stage, has boosted the careers of actors like Carey Mulligan, Alicia Vikander, Riz Ahmed and George MacKay.

For the first time, Efp will present the neophyte actors to the film industry, public and international press as part of a three-day online program. Efp’s oldest and most prestigious initiative will take place digitally from Feb. 23-25, one week before the industry events of this year’s 71st Berlinale (March 1-5). Set-in Ireland during the mid-90’s, Eddie and Amber decide to stage a relationship in order to stop everyone speculating about their sexuality. Eddie is keen to follow his Dad into the military, while Amber dreams of moving to the liberal hub of London. However, their ‘ideal’ arrangement begins to fall apart, forcing Eddie deeper into denial as Amber realizes that a perilous future awaits her best friend unless she intervenes.

David Freyne’s eager-to-please coming-of-age movie set in the 90s has the sort of high concept that could well have been greenlit in the 90s, though for an adult romcom, not a high-school film. Fionn O’Shea plays Eddie, a high-school kid preparing for his leaving certificate in County Kildare in Ireland; his dad, Ian (Barry Ward), is a senior army officer at the nearby barracks at the Curragh Camp and expects Eddie to follow in his footsteps. Meanwhile, Amber (Lola Petticrew) is a disaffected teenager in Eddie’s year who yearns to escape to what she imagines to be the punk nirvana of London.

What Eddie and Amber have in common is that they are secretly gay, and people are beginning to whisper about their apparent lack of interest in dating the opposite sex.

Released at festivals in 2017 as The Third Wave, David Freyne's first narrative feature (now released as The Cured) nabbed not just Ellen Page, who loved the script enough to sign on as both actor and producer, but terrific Irish actors Sam Keeley (In the Heart of the Sea) and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor (Peaky Blinders), as well. There are any number of films out there about zombie plagues, but how often do we think about what happens afterwards? In David Freyne's Irish horror drama The Cured, the epidemic is pretty much over, but those who have successfully been treated for their infection can still remember everything they did whilst under the influence. Society remembers too, making it difficult for them to reintegrate. When the director agreed to chat about his film, I began by asking him about its screening at the Glasgow Film Festival back in February.

Based on Freyne’s related 2014 short The First Wave, The Cured opens in Dublin, in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse, where a scientist (Paula Malcomson) has found an antidote that has cured 75% of the infected. The remaining 25% have been locked away while the scientist refines the formula, while the former infectees – known as the cured – have attempted to return to their former lives, only to be met with anger and suspicion.

Last weekend, writer/director David Freyne’s zombie-fueled political thriller The Cured arrived on VOD and in select theaters courtesy of IFC Films. Starring Ellen Page, Sam Keeley, and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, The Cured picks up where most living dead cinematic stories end. After a cure has been discovered, the previous flesh eaters are now returning to the general population to resume their normal lives, but those who were never affected by the virus aren’t exactly ready to welcome them back into the fold with open arms.

Daily Dead recently caught up with Freyne, and he discussed his unusual approach to the story of The Cured, tapping into some real-life horrors that are currently plaguing the socio-political landscape worldwide, collaborating with his cast and crew, and more.

The zombie movie genre has long been used by filmmakers to explore various societal issues through the lens of horror. That continues with “The Cured,” which offers an interesting take on the brain-eater flick, while addressing the ongoing refugee crisis around the globe.

Written and directed by David Freyne, and starring Ellen Page, Sam Keeley, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, and Paula Malcomson, the story follows a young man who has been “cured” of the infection that turned him into a zombie.

It's such an ingenious idea for a zombie movie that you're surprised no one's thought about it before. A global epidemic turns massive amounts of the world's population into flesh-craving ghouls. An antidote is found, which allows most of these everyday-people monstrosities to come back from the equivalent of the walking, chomping dead. (Most ... but not all.) The catch is that these former mindless killing machines remember every horrible thing they did under the influence of "the Maze Virus" – and they have to live with their memories, their regret, their guilt and their shame.

Paris-based company also unveils sales on Ellen Page post-zombie era pic.

Paris-based Bac Films International has unveiled a raft of pre-sales on Paolo Virzi’s upcoming Rome-set comedy noir Notti Magiche revolving around the mysterious death of a film producer.

On the basis of the script and images, the picture has sold to China (Time Vision), Brazil (Imovision), Poland (Against Gravity), Greece (Strada Films), Israel (Lev Films), Turkey (Filmarti) and Switzerland (Filmcoopi).

“We expect to close more territories here after showing a first promo. All Virzi’s movies have sold well at the Berlinale while in post-production,” said Bac’s head of sales Gilles Sousa, who previously launched the director’s Human Capital at the Efm.

In other deals, Bac also unveiled new sales on David Freyne’s post-zombie era picture The Cured, starring Ellen Page, to Mexico (View Link), China (Time Vision), Italy (Movie Inspired) and Eastern Europe (HBO).
