HBO has announced that the four-episode Original limited series C.B. Strike: The Ink Black Heart will debut on Thursday, January 23 at 9:00 p.m. Et/Pt. The series will premiere on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.

C.B. Strike: The Ink Black Heart is the sixth story of the crime drama in co-production with BBC and based on J.K. Rowling’s best-selling crime novels written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

In the new installment, Strike and Robin are hired to investigate a murder involving the creator of a cult TV cartoon and an anonymous online troll known as “Anomie.”

With a complex web of online aliases, business interests and family conflicts to navigate, our heroic pair find themselves in a case that stretches them to their limit with the threat of this mysterious killer around every corner.

Exclusive: Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott are back in business as cameras are set to roll on Season 6 of Jk Rowling’s Strike later this month.

Deadline hears that the BBC and HBO detective drama will begin principal photography on February 12, with Tom Burke reprising his role as a war veteran turned private detective. Holliday Grainger is also back as Strike’s business partner.

The BBC is yet to confirm the Season 6 renewal, but is expected to make an announcement later this month. Brontë Film and TV, the company established to adapt Rowling’s books, is producing. HBO is back on board after co-producing Season 5, with Cinemax involved in previous seasons.

The British broadcaster is preparing to renew Strike for a sixth season after apologizing twice to the author last month because guests on news shows accused her of being transphobic. A deal is yet to be done, but Deadline understands that the BBC is enthusiastic about another season.

No, episode two of Troubled Blood wasn’t any more generous with the Robin/Strike underpants progress, but it was several times more exciting than the opener by dint of having something happen in the present day. Strike: Troubled Blood really is an extraordinarily fine crime drama, where a range of exceptional talents come together to create something that is actually greater than the sum of its very formidable parts. It starts brilliantly, but gets better, and there are some surprising and compelling star performances to come.

Rashida Jones and Will McCormack are getting into business with Lionsgate TV. The prolific duo have signed a first-look producing deal with the studio via their Le Train Train Productions under which they will produce scripted programming for multiple platforms.

Their first project in development is romantic comedy Lovesick, based on the UK romantic comedy series of the same name. Originally produced by Clerkenwell Films, the project is part of the scripted co-production partnership between Lionsgate and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions.

The duo’s Le Train Train company has signed a first-look deal with Lionsgate, under which they’ll produce scripted programming for a range of platforms. The first project for Jones and McCormack is an adaptation of the British romantic comedy Lovesick, in which a guy tries to contact all of his former sexual partners after finding out he has an Sti.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Jones and McCormack, through Le Train Train, will produce scripted television programming for various platforms.

The first project in development in the deal is romantic comedy series “Lovesick,” based on the U.K. show of the same name. It was originally produced by Clerkenwell Films. “Lovesick” is part of the scripted co-production partnership between Lionsgate and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions.

Series creator Tom Edge, Jones and McCormack are executive producers on the show. Clerkenwell Films’ Petra Fried, Ed Macdonald, Andy Baker and BBC Studios’ Angie Stephenson will all be non-writing executive producers.

The BBC has renewed four of its top rated dramas – “The Tourist,” “The Responder,” “Vigil” and “Time.”

Thriller “The Tourist,” starring Jamie Dornan and Shalom Brune-Franklin, is the highest-rating drama of 2022 so far, having launched with 12 million viewers and all six episodes were the most-watched episodes on BBC iPlayer in January.

The second biggest new drama of 2022 so far is crime thriller “The Responder,” starring Martin Freeman, which launched with some 10 million viewers across 30 days. Like the first season, the second will be set and filmed in Liverpool.

In 2021, Scotland-set submarine mystery “Vigil,” starring Suranne Jones, was the U.K.’s most-watched new drama launch since “Bodyguard” in 2018. It drew an audience of over 13 million viewers across 30 days for episode one, and the series overall had an average of 12.6 million viewers. The second season will also be set in Scotland.

One of the most satisfying feelings from a TV rewatch is realizing how much of what makes a show great is right there at the start. While the show that became “Lovesick” definitely evolved over its three seasons, the first episode carries a lot of its effortless charm.

Up top, there’s the deceptively simple premise: After finding out he has an Sti, Dylan (Johnny Flynn) now faces the prospect of reaching out to all the women he’s slept with. Tom Edge, who has penned episodes of The Crown, told Shrine Podcasts‘ Vigil: The Interview special that he is “busily working away” on series two of Line of Duty producer World Productions’ thriller, which stars Gentleman Jack’s Suranne Jones.

Edge said the production team “started talking a while back about what else we might want to do” with the show, insisting it “can’t be a photocopy of what we did last time.”

Edge’s comments came a day after the first episode of Vigil consolidated to become the most-watched UK show for more than three years, with 13.4 million viewers watching over the past 30 days.

BBC1 drama Vigil from Line of Duty indie World Productions has become the UK’s top-rated show for more than three years. The submarine thriller, which stars Suranne Jones, drew in the best rating since World Productions’ Bodyguard to reach 13.4 million viewers for its first episode, according to 30-day consolidated data from the BBC. BBC chief content officer Charlotte Moore said the six-parter “kept viewers hooked like no other and is testament to the power of the writing and brilliant cast and crew”. The series was commissioned by Piers Wenger, Director of BBC Drama, and Charlotte Moore, Chief Content Officer. It was written and created by writer Tom Edge, with episodes by Ed Macdonald and Chandni Lakhani, and based on an original idea by George Aza-Selinger.

One of the bright lights of this year’s awards season, BAFTA best actress nominee Bukky Bakray of the film “Rocks” will star in forthcoming BBC One and Netflix drama “You Don’t Know Me.”

Produced by Snowed-In Production and co-produced with Netflix, the show has now begun filming in Birmingham. The project is an adaptation of Imran Mahmood’s bestselling novel, and is written by “The Crown” and “Judy” writer Tom Edge.

Directed by Sarmad Masud, the four-part drama turns on a young man named Hero (Samuel Adewunmi) who, with overwhelming evidence against him, stands accused of murder. At his trial, Hero tells an extraordinary story about the woman he loves, and how he risked everything to save her. Hero swears he is innocent, but can we believe him?

Bakray plays Bless, Hero’s younger sister, who is a guiding force for her older brother and believes fiercely in his innocence.

Bodyguard and Line Of Duty producer World Productions has resumed filming on its BBC One submarine thriller Vigil, starring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie.

Produced in Glasgow, Scotland, the show was forced to shut down earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, but filming is now back underway with safety protocols.

The BBC released a first-look image of the six-part series, which was taken before the shoot was postponed. It shows Jones and Shaun Evans as Dci Amy Silver and Chief Petty Officer Elliot Glover.

Vigil’s cast has been rounded out with the addition of Stephen Dillane (Game Of Thrones), Lolita Chakrabarti (Riviera), Daniel Portman (Game Of Thrones), Lorne MacFadyen (Grantchester), Stephen McCole (Save Me), Tom Gill (Peterloo), Lois Chimimba (Top Boy), Anita Vettesse (The Loch), Bobby Rainsbury (Call The Midwife), Cristian Ortega (Beats) and Lauren Lyle (Outlander).
