The latest Detective Conan episode wrapped up with an unexpected treat—a crossover video announcing that Shin Samurai-den Yaiba, a brand-new anime based on Gōshō Aoyama’s Yaiba manga, is officially set to premiere on April 5.

The show will air on Ytv, Ntv, and affiliated networks across Japan at 5:30 p.m. (4:30 a.m. Edt), leading directly into Detective Conan at 6:00 p.m. (5:00 a.m. Est). With this, the ‘Gōshō Aoyama Hour’ programming block is born!

Before the TV debut, fans will get an early look at the first three episodes. March 13 marks the day when Shin Samurai-den Yaiba will hit 10 Toho Cinemas locations. This special screening won’t just feature the episodes—it also includes a discussion with series creator Gōshō Aoyama, director Takahiro Hasui, and character designer Yoshimichi Kameda.

The new Yaiba: Samurai Legend anime is based on the manga by Detective Conan / Case Closed author Gosho Aoyama, so it's only fitting that the two series broadcast side-by-side. A premiere date of April 5, 2025 was announced for the new anime, putting it in the 5:30 p.m. Saturday timeslot just ahead of Detective Conan 's 6:00 p.m. broadcast. Fittingly, the hour-long Saturday block will be dubbed the "Gosho Aoyama Hour." The latest episode of Detective Conan also ended with a special collaboration video. The latest media guide released by Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform revealed that Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan manga has reached 5 million copies in circulation.

The manga had hit 3.2 million copies with the 11th volume, and the number increased to 4 million by November 2024 with 17 volumes released.

The circulation started rising quickly once the anime adaptation started airing in October 2024. This was evident as the first four volumes of the manga ranked among the top 20 best selling manga in the United States in November 2024.

Dandadan’s previous episode ended at a very interesting point, with Momo and Okarun gearing up to finally take on the Turbo Granny. The goal was to eventually help Okarun get free of the curse that was binding him.

Despite all the preparations, and Granny Seiko’s help, the situation is still a bit a bleak. Do Momo, with her newfound powers, and Okarun, who is a pencil about to snap, really hold a chance against the granny?

To settle the score with Turbo Granny, Momo and Okarun arrived at the promised tunnel. They started a game of tag to separate the earthbound spirit, and with Momo’s psychic powers, they successfully captured Turbo Granny. However, a giant earthbound spirit in the form of a crab approached the two, trying to reclaim Turbo Granny.

Okarun and Momo might have dealt with the sumo alien who suddenly appeared in front of them. However, they seem to have a penchant for attracting trouble. This time, Turbo Granny reared her ugly head again, taking control of Okarun and ruining the situation.

However, the highlight of Dandadan episode 3 certainly has to be Grandma Seiko’s introduction. Interestingly, both Seiko and Turbo Granny, though grannies have totally different personalities and vibe. How well will she handle the situation unfolding in front of her?

Okarun is transformed by Turbo Granny’s curse. He loses control of his powers and goes out of control, but Momo’s grandmother, Seiko, a spirit medium, saves him in the nick of time. To break the curse, Momo and Okarun decide to play tag with Turbo Granny.

Dandadan’s 1st episode was a ride, largely due to the uncanny plot, and also due to how well the source material was adapted by Science Saru.

Having somehow dealt with their respective situations, involving Turbo Granny and Serponians, both Momo and Okarun decide to have some down time and come to terms with what they had just experienced.

However, they are left facing a new adversary come episode 2 of Dandadan. And turns out that the curse put on Okarun by Turbo Granny, and Momo’s newfound powers might just help them navigate this tricky situation.

Japanese video game designer Hideo Kojima took to his official X account on Oct 5, 2024, to share his thoughts on the currently airing Dandadan anime, praising its themes of the occult and UFOs while expressing enthusiasm for the production’s unique style.

In his post, Kojima mentioned that while he hasn’t read the original manga, Dandadan‘s themes of UFOs and the supernatural immediately struck a chord with him.

Mainichi Broadcasting System Inc. unveiled a new trailer for the upcoming Dandadan anime on Aug 19, 2024. The Pv previews the anime’s opening theme, “Otonoke,” performed by Creepy Nuts.

Dandadan anime is scheduled to start airing in Japan on Oct 3, 2024.

It was also revealed that Japanese rock group Zutomayo will perform the ending theme song, titled Taidada.

The highly anticipated Dan Da Dan anime is getting a global premiere event ahead of its TV broadcast starting on Aug 31, 2024. The event will span over 50 countries and regions across Asia, North America, Europe, and Africa.

The global premiere will begin with Asia on Aug 31, and continue in Europe on Sep 7, followed by North America on Sep 13, and in Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Africa in mid-September.

In Asia, the event will be organised by anime distributer Muse Communications.

Netflix and Sony’s anime specialty platform Crunchyroll will both stream the upcoming Japanese anime series Dan Da Dan, an adaptation of the manga of the same name created by Yukinobu Tatsu. Netflix will stream the series globally, while Crunchyroll will simulcast it everywhere except in Asia as the episodes air in Japan. Taiwan-based anime distributor Muse also revealed during Hong Kong Filmart Tuesday that it has picked up Asia rights to the anticipated title.

The anime adaptation will be directed by Fuga Yamashiro, whose credits include being assistant director on Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! and Tatami Time Machine Blues. The script is written by Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan Final Season; Jujutsu Kaisen). "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" is an animated spin-off of "Cyberpunk 2077," a blockbuster sci-fi dystopian video game that itself was made in a pretty dystopian manner. It's also the newest show by Hiroyuki Imaishi, the director of "Gurren Lagann" and "Promare." 

Imaishi started as an animator and director at the legendary studio Gainax before co-founding Studio Trigger with fellow Gainax staff including Yoh Yoshinari. His work features bombastic action, rude humor, and enough lens flares to give J.J. Abrams a headache. Imaishi's work is popular among international fans, some of whom were inspired to become animators themselves. Others argue that Imaishi's descendants, such as Yoshimichi Kameda and Imaishi's protege Akira Amemiya, have long surpassed him as animator and director respectively. Even so, "Edgerunners" holds its own in what is set to be a very busy fall for the anime industry.
