The official website of AnimeJapan 2025 revealed the line-ups for its main stages on Jan 17, 2025.

This year’s event will feature four main stages—Red, Green, Blue, and the newly introduced White stage, hosting a total of 52 programs over two days.

An overview of the stages can be viewed below:

Red Stage & Green Stage: These are closed stages with designated seating. Attendees will need both an admission ticket and a stage viewing ticket to watch programs on these stages. Blue Stage & White Stage: These are open stages. The front-row seats for viewing will be designated seating, requiring both an admission ticket and a stage viewing ticket. However, free viewing areas are available at the back, though space is limited.

It was also revealed that some stage programs will be streamed online. Further details about the streaming schedule and availability will be revealed in the coming weeks.

If there is a downside to the incredible amount of animation out there, it's that some shows fly under the radar for way too long. While series like Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Attack on Titan get an incredible amount of views thanks to their quality and popularity, there are a ton of underrated anime series that deserve a lot more attention than they get.

It’s official, the Season 2 of anime series “Wind Breaker” will land on Crunchyroll in 2025.

The anime streamer announced the news on Thursday, the same day “Wind Breaker’s” Season 1 finale aired in Japan. The English dub for the first season will arrive exclusively on Crunchyroll on July 11.

Japanese voice actor Yuichiro Umehara surprised fans this week by revealing he’s been married since 2016.

The news comes after Umehara, known for his roles in Goblin Slayer, The Misfit of Demon King Academy, Black Clover, among others, was seen earlier this month entering a cafe in Tokyo’s downtown area with a woman, who sources identified as his wife.

Following the public sighting, reporters approached Umehara, and he openly addressed the situation. The voice actor confirmed that he has been married for several years, having tied the knot in his mid-twenties. He explained that his wife is a college sweetheart and they’ve been together for a long time.

The Misfit of Demon King Academy is a very popular fantasy adventure novel series written by Shu. The original series has been ongoing since 2017, with the light novel series currently consisting of 14 volumes illustrated by Yoshinori Shizuma. It has also been adapted into an ongoing anime series, whose first season ran from July 4 to September 26, 2020. A second season was announced, consisting of two non-consecutive cours. The first one, containing 12 episodes, aired from January 8 to September 24, 2023, and was plagued by issues and delays. Still, the second cour of Silver Link’s anime series is on track to premiere on April 13, 2024, and we now have yet another trailer for the upcoming series ahead of the premiere.

The ending theme song has been revealed for the Vampire Dormitory anime, and this one has three of the main cast members getting in on a cover. Kana Ichinose (Mito Yamamoto), Shunichi Toki (Ruka Saotome) and Yuichiro Umehara (Ren Nikaido) will perform a cover of the Every Little Thing duo's "Mata Ashita" song as their respective characters. ‘Suicide Squad Isekai’ is an upcoming anime series based on DC Comics’ Suicide Squad team, set in a parallel world. Produced by Wit Studio and presented by Warner Bros. Japan, the series is helmed by director Eri Osada, with series composition and screenplay by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara, respectively. The annual Anime! Anime! General Election has unveiled the winners of the “Most Recommended Male Voice Actor” of 2023 on Dec 29, 2023.

The survey period spanned from Nov 15, 2023, to Dec 15, 2023, during which over 3,000 anime fans participated. With a majority of female respondents, accounting for approximately 65%, with 35% being male, the survey captured the sentiments of a diverse audience ranging from those under 19 to individuals in their 40s.

Participants were asked to identify the voice actors who left a lasting impression, whether through their roles in various anime or their appearances in other forms of entertainment. The criteria ranged from the most active and impactful voice actor of the year to the one fans found themselves recommending the most.

Netflix unpacked a swath of news during its Netflix Anime Festival 2020 livestream Tuesday out of Japan, setting five new anime projects and providing updates on 11 other series in various stages of production at the streamer’s bustling Tokyo headquarters.

The new original projects — continuation Rilakkuma’s Theme Park Adventure, manga-based Thermae Romae Novae, High-Rise Invasion and Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan, and The Way of the Househusband — were unveiled along with updates on 11 others previously announced including anime series based on franchises including Resident Evil, Transformers and Pacific Rim, Yasuke featuring the voice of Lakieth Stanfield, and the continuation of the manga tale Baki Hanma.

Netflix is going all in on anime as they add the eagerly anticipated Godzilla movie and 12 other projects to their slate of upcoming programming. Deadline says in addition to the series the network is also overseeing the development of Cannon Busters, Devilman Crybaby, B: The Beginning, and Knights Of The Zodiac: Saint Seiya just to name a few.

The Godzilla and Saint Seiya grabs really show that Netflix is working to grab their Western audience who loves anime, but with competitors like Crunchyroll and Funimation (who was recently bought by Sony) in the mix, who knows if they'll be able to compete on that front. Time will tell, but the addition of so many projects seems promising for the future of anime on the platform.
