Fans Of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury are in for a treat as the Blu-ray release of the anime has brought forth official confirmation regarding the marital status of the protagonists, Suletta Mercury and Miorine Rembran.
The confirmation comes after series director Hiroshi Kobayashi, in an interview featured in the final volume of the Blu-ray collection, disclosed that Suletta and Miorine are indeed married.
In the interview, Kobayashi stated, “We had decided to write an epilogue, but we didn’t decide on the specific number of years until later. The ending itself is similar to The Tempest, with Suletta and Miorine getting married and becoming partners“.
Following the reveal, fans also started pointing out that in the Blu-ray version of the anime, Miorine was seen with a ring on her finger in the scene where she reunites with Suletta. The ring wasn’t there in the episode that aired on TV.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury had a major LGBTQ+ milestone, but unfortunately, Bandai Namco appears to have walked back on it. One of the biggest draws to The Witch from Mercury was that it featured a same-sex couple as the main couple and greatly developed Suletta and Miorine’s relationship to the point that the series ended with them getting married. Animation, in general, still often struggles with this topic, even if 2023 was a great year for positive LGBTQ+ representation in anime, so seeing a major franchise like Gundam make a same-sex couple the leads in its latest show and have them get married was a major win for representation in animation.
Unfortunately, despite how great Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury was for LGBTQ+ representation, Bandai Namco has decided to walk back on it. September 2023’s Gundam Ace featured an interview with Suletta’s voice actor,...

You may have noticed that there was no new episode of "Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury" last week. Instead, the series aired a special episode on November 13 summarizing the events of episodes 1-6, followed by an interview with Suletta and Miorine's voice actors Kana Ichinose and Lynn. Neither Crunchyroll nor the GundamInfo YouTube channel are currently streaming this segment to audiences in the United States. Recap episodes are an anime tradition, although they were more common when anime series ran for dozens of episodes instead of just a dozen. Earlier "Gundam" titles had their fair share. But all of them, as far as I know, lasted more than six weeks before resorting to a recap. Despite being the newest entry in the prestigious "Gundam" franchise, "Witch From Mercury" managed just six episodes before taking a break. Why didn't Bandai Namco delay this series to give its artists the time they needed,...
