The Season 3 finale of “Yellowjackets” reached 3 million viewers after seven days.
Compared to the Season 2 finale, that marks a 19% increase overall and a 54% increase when isolating for streaming viewership alone, according to a combination of Nielsen’s measurement of linear viewers on Showtime’s cable channel and Paramount Global’s own data regarding streams on Paramount+.
According to Paramount, the episode was the most-streamed in the series’ history. The company didn’t report ratings information throughout all of the season’s run, but did previously report the Season 3 premiere as having had the highest streaming viewership ever, with a 58% increase over streams of the Season 2 premiere.
However, it isn’t totally possible to make apples-to-apples comparisons between the overall audience of “Yellowjackets” episodes linear Showtime viewers included. Paramount didn’t report viewership throughout the run of Season 3 besides its premiere, which hit just over 2 million viewers, but that was counted...

After veering frequently into darker territory on his HBO comedy Barry, Bill Hader’s next project at the outlet will be anything but funny.
Hader and Daniel Zelman (Damages, Bloodline) are developing a drama about Jonestown, the site of the infamous 1978 massacre of more than 900 members of the Peoples Temple led by Jim Jones. Hader is also set to direct and could star in the project as well, should it go forward.
The project will tell “the story of Reverend Jim Jones and his people,” per its logline. Hader and Zelman are writing and executive producing.
Jonestown has been the subject of numerous books documentaries in the years since the November 1978 massacre, where more than 900 Peoples Temple members died in Guyana after drinking poisoned Flavor Aid. Jones himself died of a gunshot wound that was likely self-inflicted. The events were also depicted in a 1980 miniseries that starred Powers Boothe as Jones,...

9-1-1 Made a Huge Mistake Killing Off Peter Krause’s Bobby Nash — How Can the Show Possibly Recover?

It’s been exactly one week since we lost 9-1-1‘s Captain Bobby Nash, and I don’t feel any better about it.
Killing off a beloved actor like Peter Krause was a big swing, a point of no return from which some shows never fully rebound. Can the ABC procedural avoid that same fate? I’m not so sure.

If you’ve ever wanted to watch Det. Elliot Stabler speak Italian while sporting his circa 2019 hair, boy, is this week’s Law & Order: Organized Crime for you.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Elsbeth Season 2 Episode 18, “I Know What You Did Thirty-Three Summers Ago.”] Well, there goes any chance of Michael Emerson returning in Elsbeth Season 3. The Lost and Evil alum’s villain arc came to a “biblical” conclusion, as Emerson describes it to TV Insider, in the Thursday, April 24, episode, and his ending is as memorable as it is classically dramatic. It also guarantees that Judge Milton Crawford can’t return unless in flashbacks. The episode revealed Crawford’s backstory, and as previewed by Emerson before the episode came out, young Milton was just as murderous as his older self. He’s a “sociopath,” Emerson told TV Insider, one who killed a teenage girl when he was a teen because she rejected his sexual advances. The only other person involved in that bloody night at their country club pool was none other than Andy, the man viewers saw Crawford murder in his...

A run-in with a comedy legend led to one big revelation for Deborah Vance — and a teensy peek beneath her rock-hard exterior for us.
Thursday’s Hacks sends the new late-night host straight to a cardiologist after she experiences a sudden panic attack during her show’s dress rehearsal. While in the waiting room, she runs into none other than Carol Burnett (playing herself). [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Hacks Season 4, Episode 4, “I Love LA.”] Hacks‘ latest episode, “I Love LA,” may have tracked Deborah Vance’s (Jean Smart) journey to the late-night TV stage, but it also served as a sweet tribute to Los Angeles and the victims and first responders of this year’s wildfires. In the installment, Deborah gears up to put on her first episode of the late-night show she and head writer Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder) have been crafting since the beginning of this season, but it seemed anxiety got the best of her during rehearsal, forcing Deborah offstage only seconds after she stepped onto it. In order to reassure the network of her health, Winnie (Helen Hunt) set up a doctor’s appointment for Deborah. When Deborah entered the waiting room for her doctor’s visit, she happened to sit next to sketch comedy legend Carol Burnett. The ladies have a moving conversation about nerves,...

Perhaps nowhere on Earth like Antarctica tests the old wisdom of there being no bad weather, only bad clothes. For cinematographer Bertie Gregory and the National Geographic team that embedded around the Ekström Ice Shelf in order to shoot the documentary series “Secrets of the Penguins,” cold weather gear was as important as the cameras and lenses they deployed to capture some never-before-seen footage of Emperor Penguins doing way more than marching.
Gregory told IndieWire that the packing list to overwinter in Antarctica starts with what a camera operator wears on their hands. “That’s make or break. Hands are what get cold first. When we’re operating a traditional camera, you can use big mittens that can be very comfy in minus-30 degrees Celsius or below. The problem really comes when we’re using newer technology — when flying drones, you need a lot of dexterity to operate those precisely.

New rule: if you’re going to satirize me in the New York Times, then I’m going to respond to you on Piers Morgan Uncensored. That’s how Bill Maher approached his response to Larry David’s essay “My Dinner With Adolf,” which was published in the New York Times on Monday and satirized Maher’s visit to the White House in March, after which Maher called President Trump “gracious” and “not fake.”
“First of all, it’s kind of insulting to six million dead Jews,” Maher told Piers Morgan in an interview on the set of Maher’s podcast.

Bowen Yang killed one particular quip during “The View” on April 24: The “SNL” star, who has famously portrayed Vice President Jd Vance on the sketch series, called Vance a “pope killer” on live TV.
Vance famously was among the final people to meet with Pope Francis before the pope’s passing. And though it’s been a running joke and meme online the last few days, Yang took it mainstream. You can see how shocked “The View” co-hosts were, particularly Whoopi Goldberg turning in her chair to hide her laughter.
“I mean, look, the guy’s a pope killer, okay? Somebody had to say it,” Yang said in the below clip.
Yang has been vocal about being hesitant to play Vance on “SNL.” He explained during his “The View” appearance that he was surprised to be cast as the politician. “I just thought there would be better people for it,...

When looking back at cinema’s comedy canon, the 1981 cult favorite The Four Seasons might not be the first film that comes to mind as ripe for reimagining. But for Tina Fey, who created, wrote, and executive-produced a new series inspired by the movie — alongside fellow 30 Rock writer-producers Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield — the niche classic has always been at the top of her list. “I was a huge fan, even though I was only 10 when the movie came out. It was a movie that played a lot in the early days of cable TV, and that’s how I would see it so frequently,” she says of the original, which starred Rita Moreno, Carol Burnett, and Alan Alda, who also directed the film. “It just felt very cozy and aspirational.”

If you’re one of those TV fans who ritualize watching your Thursday night dramas on ABC, well, we have some bad news for you this week: The network won’t be airing its usual slate this time around. The good news is, you won’t have to wait too long for these event dramas to return. Each of the three series will return next week on Thursday, May 1, with all-new episodes. 9-1-1‘s next episode, “The Last Alarm,” will pick up after the jaw-dropping events of last week’s, which brought about the unexpected and shocking death of Bobby Nash (Peter Krause). After Robert Irwin’s participation in Dancing With the Stars Season 34 was announced at a Beverly Hills mansion party earlier this week, he took a seat with several DWTS pros at the “Hulu Gets Real” media mixer. TV Insider spotted the zookeeper sitting right next to last year’s Len Goodman Mirrorball trophy winner, Jenna Johnson Chmerkovskiy (she hoofed to victory with The Bachelor star Joey Graziadei). Did the impromptu seating arrangement reveal that Johnson Chmerkovskiy is going to be paired with Irwin? “I don’t know,” she replied to TV Insider. “[But] I would love to! We’ll see. I think that he’s the best candidate to be on the show. I’m excited to watch his journey.” Johnson Chmerkovskiy is looking forward to the show returning in the fall. “I think especially after last season there is so much excitement and hype,” Johnson Chmerkovskiy says. “I hope that with Robert being announced,...

Ken Jennings had an amazing 74-day winning streak and participated in 75 episodes. So, that’s 150 different people he would have competed against, as he would have faced two different people each night. His original run was in 2004, and then he went on to compete in numerous tournaments. He racked up $2,520,700 in winnings for regular gameplay, which is the highest ever, according to the Jeopardy! website. In Oklahoma City Bombing: American Terror, filmmaker Greg Tillman delves into the harrowing events of April 19, 1995, when a bomb devastated the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The documentary, premiering April 18, offers a moment-by-moment account of the chaos, shock, and acts of courage that unfolded in the wake of the deadly attack.
The film features crime scene recreations, firsthand accounts from survivors, first responders, and law enforcement, and audio-recorded interviews with domestic terrorist Timothy McVeigh, the man responsible for the bombing — all shedding new light on the tragedy that claimed 168 lives. Probing how the FBI collaborated with local authorities, the documentary takes a detailed look into the investigative methods — and strokes of pure luck — used to bring McVeigh and his co-conspirators to justice, while also exploring the personal demons driving McVeigh’s radical, far-right, insurrectionist agenda.

In 2010, enigmatic art dealer and author Forrest Fenn orchestrated a treasure hunt for the 21st century. At 80 years old, Fenn hid a chest filled with gold and jewels in the mountains north of Santa Fe, leaving only a cryptic 24-line poem for fortune seekers to divine its location. The audacious act ignited a decade-long quest for which a ragtag band of adventurers abandoned their jobs, families, and in some cases even their lives in pursuit of Fenn’s hidden fortune.
The thrilling and perilous journey of these treasure hunters unfolds in the docuseries Gold & Greed: The Hunt for Fenn’s Treasure, directed by Jared McGilliard. Over three parts, it offers a rare glimpse into a quest for a prize that was not only real but actually found — and the mystery of its future hiding spot remains tantalizingly uncertain. In Chaos: The Manson Murders, Oscar-winning director Errol Morris delves into the shadowy and complex narrative of the Manson family murders. The documentary, out now on Netflix, explores the darkest corners of recent history to unpack the potential conspiracy surrounding the killings. Word of Bill Hader‘s Jonestown HBO series has reached The Studio team, and they can’t believe what a “perfect” life-imitates-art moment this has created. Creators and writers Peter Huyck and Frida Perez spoke with TV Insider on April 24 about their Apple TV+ comedy that satirizes their own industry, the pilot of which features Martin Scorsese pitching a Jonestown movie that Seth Rogen‘s Matt Remmick tries to rework into the Kool-Aid movie his boss Griffin Mill (Bryan Cranston) is forcing him to get made. On April 23, it was reported that Hader will co-write and direct the HBO series about the historic event that coined the phrase “don’t drink the Kool-Aid” and potentially star as the infamous cult leader, Jim Jones. The reports noted that the series is in no way connected to Scorsese and The Studio, showing the quick place in pop culture the Apple TV+ series...
