- The Doctor and his previous incarnations are brought to the Death Zone on his homeworld Gallifrey as part of a renegade Time Lord's scheme.
- The Tardis lands in a spaceship graveyard on the bleak planet Karn, where The Doctor and Sarah find a evil scientist called Doctor Solon is constructing a new body for the brain of an evil Time Lord known as Morbius, who The Doctor thought was executed by the High Council on Gallifrey. Morbius plots to rule the galaxy with his new body.
- The Tardis materializes aboard a mining ship on a desert planet, inhabited by a human crew and their robot servants. While Leela adjusts to life travelling with the Doctor, one of the ship's robots mysteriously kills a member of the crew.

- Knights from a parallel universe arrive on Earth to find the legendary sword Excalibur. Only the Doctor and Ace with the assistance of Brigadier Lethbridge Stewart can save the Earth from total catastrophe.
- The TARDIS arrives in England, 1925, near to where a mysterious, gurgling man has escaped his bonds and started strangling servants. The Doctor is "expected" and taken (along with Tegan, Nyssa, and Adric) to the Cranleighs' country estate where The Doctor participates in a cricket match and Nyssa turns out to be the near spitting image of Ann, fiancée of Charles Cranleigh. They all stay for an afternoon costume ball. Tegan teaches others how to do the Charleston while Adric eats, but The Doctor finds himself searching through secret passageways in his bathrobe after the gurgling man steals his clothing and party costume to attend the ball and deal with one of the guests.
- The Doctor attempts to test his new dematerialisation circuit by taking Jo to Metebelis Three but instead the TARDIS arrives in the hold of a 1920s cargo ship.
- The Doctor has regenerated but it hasn't gone well. He's mentally unraveling and needs a place to rest beyond outside influences. Unfortunately the Master has laid a trap for the TARDIS that denies the Doctor undisturbed recovery time.

- When someone tries to assassinate diplomat Sir Reginald Styles, UNIT investigate the possibility his attacker came from the future.
- As the TARDIS heads to the paradise planet Florana where the Doctor and Sarah go for a holiday, the TARDIS goes off-course and arrives on the barren planet Exxilon, where the TARDIS is losing power. The Doctor and Sarah finds a group of humans and Daleks are searching for parrinium, a mineral which is the only antidote to a space plague. Both parties encounter the native people and trouble ensues. In an attempt to find what caused the power loss, the Doctor, chased by the Daleks, enters the Exxilon's lost city to stop the power-draining phenomenon.
- The Bannermen have successfully wiped out all but the last of the Chimeron - Delta, the queen, no less. She escapes with an egg and boards an intergalactic bus of Navarino vacationers heading for 1959 Earth to visit Disneyland. On that bus is Mel, followed closely by the Doctor in his TARDIS.
- The Doctor and Romana find themselves on Skaro and forced to be military advisers to the Daleks' enemy, Movellans, while the Daleks revive Davros.

- In the midst of an argument between Adric and the Doctor, the Tardis materializes underground in Earth's distant future where a team of paleontologists and geologists find themselves under attack from a pair of androids.
