Billie Eilish helped replace a Los Angeles wildfire victim’s lost t-shirt with the help of Meghan Markle this week.

The duchess shared the story on social media, saying in a video that she found a girl who lost her home in the Eaton Fire while visiting Altadena with her husband, Prince Harry, in January. The girl had lost a beloved t-shirt from one of Eilish’s concerts. Markle said she doesn’t know Eilish, but connected with the singer through Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo.

Instead of replacing the t-shirt, Eilish sent a robust care package of clothing, merchandise and a signed record for the girl, who Markle said was 15 years old.

“To everyone who is showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what’s happened in California, just thank you so much,” Markle said. In the caption, she also thanked first responders.

That’s down 12% from last year’s Grammys, which brought in 17.5 million viewers on CBS, per Nielsen Live + Same Day ratings. (The 2024 Grammys marked a 34% increase from the year before.)

Those figures do not include streaming and online viewership from Paramount+, CBS.com and the CBS app.

CBS claims that the music awards telecast was “the most social television program ever,” racking up 102.2 million interactions online. Still, marketing efforts for this year’s show were scaled back due to the wildfires in Los Angeles. As the ceremony focused on fundraising efforts and the resilience of the city, the Grammys raised nearly $9 million to aid wildfire relief efforts in California on Sunday night, and an additional $15 million over the weekend.

Sunday’s ceremony was the best Grammys in years, declared Variety‘s Chris Willman in his review of the telecast.

The 67th Annual Grammy Awards took place at Crypto.com Arena on February 2, 2025, with all prominent music industry figures in attendance. The timing of the ceremony aligned with the aftermath of the California wildfires, causing increased significance as several performers paid tribute to the communities that suffered the fires.

Beyoncé finally won Album of the Year and Kendrick Lamar pulled off two remarkable major-category victories at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

“It’s been many, many years,” Beyoncé acknowledged with a slight chuckle while finally accepting the prize that’s eluded her throughout her illustrious career, for Cowboy Carter. She went on to thank her many collaborators and dedicated the win to Linda Martell, the pioneering Black country artist who features on the LP.

“I hope we just keep pushing forward and opening doors,” Beyoncé continued.

Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar were among the big winners at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

For the first time in her legendary career, Beyoncé took home Album of the Year. After being nominated four previous times in the category, Queen Bey finally broke through with her country album Cowboy Carter.

Beyoncé also made Grammy history as the first Black artist to win Best Country Album, and her collaboration with Miley Cyrus, II Most Wanted,” was named Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

One of the top awards of the night, record of the year, has been awarded to Kendrick Lamar for “Not Like Us” during the 2025 Grammy Awards.

After being presented the award by Miley Cyrus, who quipped that she may just say Beyoncé’s name instead, she eventually revealed that Lamar won the award. Once he made his way up to the stage to accept the golden gramophone trophy, Lamar said he’s “gonna dedicate this one [award] to the city” of Los Angeles.

“Compton, Watts, Long Beach, Inglewood, Hollywood, out to the Valley, Pacoima, Ie, San Bernardino, all that,” he says. “You know, this is my neck of the woods that held me down … since I was in the studio scrapping to write the best raps and all that, in order to do records like these.”

After a harrowing video detailed the effects of the wildfires on the L.A. community, the “Die With a Smile” singers performed a stripped down rendition of The Mamas & the Papas’ 1965 track.

“I love you California,” Gaga said at the end of the performance, which prompted the crowd to erupt in a standing ovation. Grammys host Trevor Noah commended their tribute, reminding “to donate what you can” to MusiCares fire relief, an effort created by the Recording Academy to aid those affected by the wildfires.

Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eilish have been nominated in the same category, including a few others, which is ‘Record of the Year.’ It will be interesting to see whether Swift will again grab the honor or someone else will take it away. Green Day kicked off the FireAid Benefit Concert with a performance of their 2009 song “Last Night on Earth,” joined by special guest Billie Eilish.

Eilish’s fellow Billie (Joe Armstrong) carried the first portion of the song, delivering its apt lyrics for the occasion — like, “If I lose everything in the fire/ I’m sending all my love to you” — as bandmates Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool, and a number of auxiliary musicians, provided the ballad’s steady-moving arrangement.

A24 is building its own Brat pack: Charli Xcx will produce and star in The Moment, the feature directorial debut from photographer Aidan Zamiri with a score from A.G. Cook.

British sitcom star Pauline Quirke will step back from professional duties after being diagnosed with dementia.

Her husband, Steve Sheen, released a statement saying the Birds of a Feather actress had been diagnosed with the condition in 2021. The 65-year-old Quirke will now end all professional and commercial activities, Sheen’s statement read.

In recent years, she has been focused on The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts, which provides extracurricular opportunities for young people who want to experience the performing arts.

Quirke is best known for her role as Sharon Theodopolopodous in British sitcom Birds of a Feather, which at its peak in the 1990s drew average audiences of over 12 million per episode. The show starred Quirke and Linda Robson as working-class Essex women who begin living together when their husbands are sent to prison for armed robbery.

On Friday, Jan. 3, the Golden Globes will host a special dinner at the Beverly Hilton honoring the Cecil B. DeMille Award recipient, Viola Davis, and the Carol Burnett Award recipient, Ted Danson. Gold Derby has learned that Meryl Streep will present to Davis, while Mary Steenburgen, Danson’s wife, will present to him. Other celebrities expected to be in attendance include Carol Burnett and Jane Fonda.

The Cecil B. DeMille Award was first created in 1952 and honors film artisans, while the Carol Burnett Award, which celebrates television stars, was first doled out in 2019. Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” appears to have snuck past Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” at the buzzer to become the most-streamed song on Spotify of 2024.

According to Variety, the Hit Me Hard and Soft single finished out the year with 1,775,172,881 streams in 2024. That gave it about 650,000 more streams than Carpenter’s “Espresso,” which ended the year with 1,774,525,704 streams on Spotify.

The achievement garnered a celebratory post on X from Eilish’s label, Interscope Records. A rep for Spotify did not immediately return Rolling Stone’s request for more official year-end data.

Billie Eilish and the Forum are like birds of a feather. Since 2020, the Los Angeles native has performed in the storied concert venue multiple times, the latest stop being a five-night run that marks her triumphant hometown return.
