Goku has been facing enemies stronger than himself since the inception of Dragon Ball. After mastering the basics, he won the World Martial Arts Tournament, and it felt like an end to Goku’s adventures. But with the advent of Dragon Ball Z, Akira Toriyama introduced a whole new genre of villains.
It was since Dragon Ball Z that Goku faced the most difficult challenges including Frieza, Majin Buu, Cell, and others. In an interview, the mangaka opened up about the escalation of enemies and how they helped boost Goku’s popularity.

Amazon Prime Video is rapidly becoming a major force in Latin America with its mix of local content, ambitious productions and compelling stories.
Taking part in a Ventana Sur online conference, Pablo Iacoviello, Amazon Prime Video’s director of content for Latin America, and Javiera Balmaceda, Amazon Studios’ head of originals for Argentina, Chile and Colombia, discussed the streaming giant’s slate of productions, which have exploded in the past two years.
Amazon launched its original series in Latin America in 2018 with Mexican titles “Diablo Guardián” and the political thriller “An Unknown Enemy,” both produced by Televisa, and it continues to expand its production activities in the region’s major markets.
Amazon has achieved particular success with comedy and entertainment formats like “Lol: Last One Laughing,” which is being adapted in major international markets like Germany and Australia, and “De viaje con los Derbez,” a comedy docuseries featuring Mexican comedian...

Early in Monday night’s season premiere of The Good Doctor, the action on the ABC medical drama pauses for an onscreen disclaimer that reads, “This episode of The Good Doctor is a made-up story about a real battle still being fought. Honor the heroes: doctors, nurses and other frontline workers, many of whom have given their lives. Do your part. Wear a mask.”
The request for viewers to please, for the love of all that is decent and sane, wear a mask might seem like the more important aspect of the message.

Our continuing look back at some of the biggest summers we've lived through takes us back 15 years to one of the best recent movie seasons overall. In honor of the 2014 summer movie season, Team HitFix will be delivering a mini-series of articles flashing back to key summers from years past. There will be one each month, diving into the marquee events of the era, their impact on the writer and their implications on today's multiplex culture. We continue today with a look back at the summer of 1999. It was the summer I became Moriarty. To be fair, I had been contributing to Ain't It Cool for a little while already by that point, and I had been slowly but surely embracing the potential of the website and the audience that I was reaching. I had already taken a few trips to Austin, including a memorable stay at the third Quentin Tarantino Film Festival,...

Actors often get their accolades for doing drama, comedy, or even action, but it never seems like we properly recognize those actors which do a splendid job scaring us. This is a list of the top ten actors that are excellent at being scary.
Make-up, prosthetics, computer animation, and costumes can only go so far. What makes a movie character really scary is the actor or actress portraying that character. And it’s not enough just to yell “boo!” at the right moment. No, the best in the business know how to create a believable persona that is disturbing, creepy, disgusting, mysterious, or maybe all at once.
This is a list of my pick for the top ten scariest actors of all time. These actors are veterans and legends in the film industry because of the ingenious ways they were able to spook the audience consistently throughout their career. Their...

We all love The Karate Kid. No, not the ridiculously long remake that featured Kung-Fu instead of Karate despite its name, we're talking the original, man! Why are we talking about that? Because some interesting Hitchcock casting news has just broken.
According to Deadline, Daniel-san himself, Ralph Macchio, has signed on to Hitchcock. Macchio will play Psycho screenwriter Joe Stefano. Anthony Hopkins plays Hitchcock, Helen Mirren plays Alma Reville, Scarlett Johansson plays Janet Leigh, and Jessica Biehl plays Vera Miles.

Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of ‘Psycho’, the story of how Hollywood’s legendary master of suspense made one of the seminal horror films of all time, has begun production, according to a new announcement from Fox Searchlight Pictures and Montecito Pictures.
The film — starring Sir Anthony Hopkins and Dame Helen Mirren — also has a new, one word title. It will simply be called Hitchcock. If you hadn’t noticed already, Hollywood has a current preference for one-word titles. This one happens to work for us.
The film will be directed by first-time helmer, Sacha Gervasi. Production will begin in Los Angeles on Friday.
Gervasi co-wrote Steven Spielberg’s 2004 film The Terminal and also won the Best Documentary award at the 2010 Independent Spirit Awards for Anvil! The Story of Anvil.

The guinea pig
Cinema persistently tries to achieve what science so far has not: make a man/monkey mashup. In The Doctor's Experiment; or Reversing Darwin's Theory (1908) men are turned into apes, while in Balaoo the Demon Baboon (1913, twice remade) a doctor has a go at the reverse, with the side-effect of turning them murderous. In 1932's Murders in the Rue Morgue, women are injected with ape blood (they die); in Return of the Ape Man (1944) Bela Lugosi swaps John Carradine's brain with that of a gorilla (again, doesn't go well). The Man Without a Body (1957) tells of an impressionable gent who submits to the ministrations of a scientist who has been seeing what happens when you play switcheroo with monkey heads.

Alexa here. I was lucky enough to vacation in Hawaii a few weeks ago. While walking down a particularly touristy street, a video projected in one of the shops caught my eye: there was Anthony Hopkins, standing in an artist's studio, talking about painting. Suddenly I was thinking of Surviving Picasso and how frustrating I found it that Picasso's paintings were only partially visible. Yet here was Hopkins, standing in front of a full canvas. Of course, this wasn't Guernica, but one of the actor's own alternately brooding and peaceful works.
Hopkins has said that looking at his paintings, "what you're observing is my state of mind." He has also attributed himself a Van Gogh-type personality, especially during his drinking days. Certainly something about his artwork mirrors his acting roles: alternating the garish (Instinct, Freejack) with the understated (84 Charing Cross Road, Howard's End). Here's a sampling. You can see more here.

How many times have you walked out of a dark theater, disappointed by the performance of a favorite actor who clearly phoned it in? Take, for instance, Anthony Hopkins. Sir Anthony Hopkins, actually. He is one of the greats. Most famous for playing Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs, the Oscar winner was a protege of Laurence Olivier, and his performance as the undemonstrative butler in The Remains of the Day is, for my money, one of the most brilliant studies in the art of acting. But in between the roles that take your breath away, there are films like: The Rite,...

Oof, talk about a car crash of mediocrity. What happens when you pair the director of "National Treasure," "While You Were Sleeping" and "Instinct" with the writer of "Serendipity" and "A Good Year"? There are huge spoilers about Glee’s Super Bowl episode in this post concerning Sue Sylvester. But just how big and flashy is the episode? According to Chris Colfer, “It's by far the most expensive episode we've ever done. There was one scene where they were filming and they had two ambulances on standby, which is two more ambulances than they usually have. It's a big one."
Meanwhile, this post about Glee has Darren Criss addressing the future of Blaine and Kurt “We're definitely going to start seeing some layers to the two of them. The pink elephant in the room will finally be addressed, let's put it that way.”
The real Being Human, the one with Russell Tovey, is set to hit the air for its third season in the UK January 23rd. Which may not bode well for those with access to both the original and the American series.

Check out a promo clip and poster from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, starring Jay Baruchel, Nicolas Cage, Monica Bellucci, Alfred Molina, Toby Kebbell, Ethan Peck, Teresa Palmer and Peyton List.
Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can’t do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé.
The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It’ll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
The film, adaptation of the classic story from “Fantasia,” also stars Monica Bellucci, Teresa Palmer and Toby Kebbell.

Today we have two new clips for the upcoming fantasy action flick The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

A film about the birth of environmental group Greenpeace, in the 1970's, will start shooting soon. Two books written by the charity founders will be adapted into a screenplay: "Greenpeace: How a Group of Ecologists, Journalists and Visionaries Changed the World" by Rex Weyler, and "Warriors of the Rainbow: A Chronicle of the Greenpeace Movement" by Bob Hunter. The director in charge of translating the project to the screen is none other than Jon Turteltaub, which may not be for the best: he is responsible for "The Kid" with Bruce Willis, "Instinct" with Anthony Hopkins, "Phenomenon" with John Travolta, as well as "National Treasure" and its sequel "National Treasure 2: The Book of Secrets" with Nicolas Cage, amongst other ge...
