But he was just as good, if not better, at playing over-the-top comedic villains, as evidenced by his work as White Goodman in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.

Disney fans quickly noticed that Goodman, the head of Globo Gym, was distinctly similar to another fitness-obsessed antagonist that Stiller once played: Tony Perkis Jr. from the 1995 Judd Apatow-scripted family comedy Heavyweights.

A sleeper science fiction comedy hit since its debut in 2021, "Resident Alien" has steadily been entertaining audiences with its extraterrestrial hijinks. The show adapts the comic book of the same name by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse, starring Alan Tudyk as an alien hiding in the small town of Patience, Colorado. Posing as the town's doctor Harry Vanderspeigle, the alien initially intends to wipe out humanity as part of his otherworldly directive, but then he learns to appreciate it. This change of heart is informed by the friends that Harry makes in town, with "Resident Alien" boasting a strong ensemble of actors joining Tudyk.

A lot of the charm in "Resident Alien" comes from its principal cast, along with the solid writing by series creator Chris Sheridan. As the series progresses, much of these characters' backstories are gradually revealed, giving heart to the wacky sci-fi antics Harry unleashes on the town.

Ben Stiller's new Christmas movie has become a streaming success despite its 37% Rotten Tomatoes score. Since the 1990s, Stiller has been a consistent comedic presence in film and television, starting with his sketch comedy series, The Ben Stiller Show. He later made appearances on shows like Friends, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Arrested Development, and Extras, the last of which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.

THR reports that Sterling K. Brown, Rita Ora and John Kim are set to join the production is undisclosed roles.

Newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye, who previously appeared in Badults and served as Tom Holland’s understudy in Romeo & Juliet on the West End this spring, is also on board.

We don't have details on any of the characters, but scooper Mttsh reported that Brown was in talks to play the villain last week. There's a decent chance the others will play four of the five Voltron pilots.

Amazon MGM Studios may have found its next hit franchise with its upcoming live-action Voltron film, which could become the streamer's robot franchise to equal Transformers. After Voltron spent years in development hell, fans of the legendary animated mecha series will finally get to see the members of Voltron protect the galaxy with their robot lions in a whole new way.

Voltron already has well-established talent supporting it, as Henry Cavill recently joined the cast fresh off of leaving Netflix's The Witcher. Amazon's Voltron has also found a director in Rawson Marshall Thurber, who previously directed hits like We're The Millers, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, and Netflix's Red Notice. For Voltron, Amazon has the benefit of the source material's cosmic depth, distinctive human characters, and exciting story to make a blockbuster epic even beyond Transformers.

THR reports that the Man of Steel and The Witcher star has signed on to play a lead role in Amazon MGM Studios’ live-action Voltron movie.

Cavill joins previously-cast newcomer Daniel Quinn-Toye, who previously appeared in Badults and served as Tom Holland’s understudy in Romeo & Juliet on the West End this spring. No details on either of their characters have been disclosed, but we assume they will play two of the five Voltron pilots.

The project is being helmed by Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thurber, and is based on the Japanese sci-fi show Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger Xv. World Events would later edit and dub the series as a syndicated show, naming it Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which ran in the mid '80s.

Hasbro’s popular fantasy tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons is coming to the small screen in live-action after scoring an eight-episode, straight-to-series order from Paramount+.

The series is a co-production between eOne and Paramount Pictures, with eOne serving as the lead studio. The pilot episode is written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, whose credits include “Red Notice,” “Central Intelligence,” “We’re the Millers,” and “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.”

More than 50 million fans have interacted with or played D&d since it was first published 49 years ago, including video games and livestream entertainment on Twitch and YouTube. All series-based consumer products will run through Hasbro.

The streamer has landed an eight-episode series based on the ever-popular role playing game. The show comes from Entertainment One and Paramount Pictures; Red Notice filmmaker Rawson Marshall Thurber wrote the pilot script and is set to direct the first episode.

Toymaker Hasbro owns D&d and eOne (though it’s looking to sell the film and TV business). eOne is the lead studio on the series and also collaborated with Paramount Pictures on the feature film Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which is due for a March 31 release. The series will be separate from the film, sources tell THR.

The series project has been in development for almost a year. eOne shopped the property to potential buyers beginning in November, with Paramount+ winning out with its straight-to-series order.
