You know, this is one gameshow format that would look totally rubbish on paper and shouldn't take off at all. Yet inexplicably, I have found myself enjoying this.
The format is simple enough: Beat the other teams in guessing a randomly selected number in a sudoku grid correctly, then further your points/prize total by answering a general knowledge question. Though the questions do prove to be rather difficult compared to a few other general knowledge quizzes.
Eamonn Holmes does well to inject the vital ingredients of a good gameshow into the mix, with interaction between the contestants, humorous remarks and even various cheesy catchphrases such as "Step into the sudo-Q" and "Be there or be square".
Overall, this is a fairly generic looking gameshow, which can get repetitive sometimes when the winning team returns in the next show only to completely dominate for the next few shows. However, it is a winning formula and it does deserve better publicity, a new time slot and perhaps some minor tweaks to the gameplay.
