Indie streaming service Nebula has set its first-ever scripted original series, “Sub/liminal,” with Oscar-winning producer Dan Jinks on board to executive produce.

Per Nebula, “The new dark anthology series from the indie streamer will be in the vein of The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. The show will explore power dynamics in human relationships, and what can happen when those relationships fall out of balance.”

The six-episode first season of “Sub/liminal” will feature stories from Nebula creators made in partnership with seasoned directors and producers. Nebula CEO Dave Wiskus will executive produce alongside Jinks.

“Sub/liminal” is set to begin production later this year.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with Dave Wiskus and the amazing writers and directors he has assembled at Nebula for this exciting new series,” Jinks said.

While the project is in the early stages and the logline is being kept under wraps, sources described The Traveler as an intimate family drama that exponentially develops into a vast science fiction odyssey. The novel explores the life of Scott Treder, a 47-year-old biology technician who begins experiencing involuntary jumps through time, and there’s been interest in mounting a feature adaptation for some time. Despite the title, Carry-On has nothing to do with the popular series of saucy British comedies. Instead, it’s a pacy and enjoyable straight-to-Netflix airport thriller, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. The first thing in my mind upon streaming Netflix’s Carry-On is its airport premise takes place on a Christmas holiday, which instantly reminds me of Die Hard 2. While the latter is more of a high-stakes action thriller filled with bigger action, explosions and stunts, genre specialist Jaume Collet-Serra isn’t here to replicate the go-big-or-go-home thrills of Renny Harlin’s 1990 blockbuster. Instead, he prefers a low-key approach, relying more on building up the tension and suspense than going all-out.

The story goes like this: A young and lowly Tsa officer Ethan Kopek (Taron Egerton) working at Lax. He recently learns his girlfriend Nora (a stunning Sofia Carson), who also works in the same airport but as a manager for the airport operations, is pregnant. The news somehow leaves him with a mixed feeling and not to mention his seemingly dead-end job at Lax remains stagnant for so long.

One of the biggest cinematic disputes is over whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not; well, be prepared to add another film to that argument, as Netflix released a similar one in December 2024. John McTiernan's 1988 action movie follows Bruce Willis' John McClane, a detective who gets trapped inside a skyscraper on Christmas Eve when terrorists take over. Is this the first time a marketing idea came before a movie script? I couldn’t help but wonder after watching Netflix’s inept and time-wasting thriller Carry On. It feels as if the studio said to themselves, “Let’s make a movie that answers the question, Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?”

With the advent of Hollywood AI, I’d bet my salary against the president of Netflix’s salary that this was the case. Carry On is a blatant rip-off of better films, particularly Die Hard 2: Die Harder. Worse, the script thinks it’s smarter than it is, dragging down a fun performance by Jason Bateman.

The Pyro Traveler form in Genshin Impact may finally give the games protagonist a good gameplay kit, differing from most of their previous versions. The main character for HoYoverses action RPG is the only character capable of wielding different elements these powers are unlocked as they progress through their adventures in Teyvat and unlock resonance with each Nations reigning Elemental Type. Upon starting the game, players unlock the Anemo Traveler, and, being in Natlan, unlocking the Pyro Traveler in Genshin Impact should occur soon. This is the first time the Traveler hasnt unlocked powers in a Nations first patch.

So far, the protagonist can wield Anemo, Geo, Electro, Dendro, and Hydro, from the regions of Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, and Fontaine, respectively. Exclusive: Bavc Media has named the latest group of nonfiction filmmakers to take part in its prestigious documentary film fellowship program. The octet announced today will receive $10,000 each in “unrestricted funding, mentorship, industry access, feedback sessions, and workshops during an immersive 9-month experience.”

The Bavc MediaMaker Fellowship was established in 1991 to support emerging filmmakers and diverse projects. This year’s cohort includes Ademola (Ellas Vinieron de Las Nubes / They Came From the Clouds); Chelsi Bullard (Unfiltered); Caron Creighton (Wood Street); Julia Hunter (This is Me Loving You); Patrick G. Contentious contract negotiations between publishing giant Condé Nast and the union representing staffers at many of its magazines spilled over Wednesday when staffers marched to the New York City offices of the company’s CEO.

The action by members of Condé Union comes after it criticized Tuesday’s negotiations over the first contract since the NewsGuild union received certification in 2022. According to the union, during the talks, management threatened to add five additional layoffs to a proposed list and possibly more.

After the company announced layoffs affecting 5% of staffers last November, talks with the union yielded a higher percentage of union members who could be affected. According to the union, the company proposed to lay off 94 union members, about 20% of the union’s membership.

Negotiations are set to resume on Thursday.

A rep for Condé Nast, when contacted by Deadline, did not offer any initial comment on the back and forth with the union.
