Trivia
The Doctor and Peri engage in a William Shakespearean word duel. He says "Cowards die many times before their deaths. The valiant never taste of death but once." This is a verbatim quote from the title character of Julius Caesar, Act 2, Scene 2. She replies "Discretion is the better part of valour." This is the popular paraphrase of "The better part of valour is discretion," spoken by Falstaff in Henry IV Part 1, Act 5, Scene 4.

The Mark of the Rani: Part Two

At this point. Michael Grade, controller of BBC1 back in 1985 probably hoped both the Tardis and Colin Baker fell down the mine pit for good.

The Doctor is effectively go karting to his doom. Luckily George Stephenson is on hand to save him from the actions of the unruly miners.

As the Doctor warns Stephenson about his planned a meeting of great scientific and engineering minds. The Master has got Luke Ward under mind control. Hoping young Luke would lure George Stephenson to the wrong path.

Only Luke succumbs to one of the Rani's land mines and gets turned into a tree.

While the Doctor booby traps the Rani's Tardis to accelerate to the outer reaches of the universe.

There is a hotchpot of a plot here. Sadly Pip and Jane Baker have written a mess, there really is no story here. It is compounded by some lousy acting from the grunting rampaging villagers. The dinosaur effects are poor.

The otherwise good atmospheric production values are little compensation.
