When the investigation team is still trying to figure out who could have been the murderer, one of them suggests that all the abused women could have arranged the murders--"like Murder On The Orient Express?" Then Anne-Britt, Lisa, and Magnus digress into a conversation about which Agatha Christie novel it was that that had "was one victim and lots of killers," and they continue in that vein ("You're thinking of Ten Little Indians, aren't you? You know, the one with Albert Finney on the train." "No, that's Murder On The Orient Express.") until Wallander (Kenneth Branagh) yells at them to concentrate on the murder investigation. In 2017, Kenneth Branagh directed and starred in a big-screen adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express, in the same role that Albert Finney played (Detective Hercule Poirot).

Goofs
In the first scene with Wallander, he stops his car and the sound of a conventional hand brake is heard. The Volvo V70 II does, however, have an electronic parking brake, which does not make such a sound.

Series Noir

Dark, sad, not going to be a comedy. Get over it and recognize it's a dark, sad series. If you want to laugh watch something else (try Would I Lie To You), but don't be surprised when Wallander leaves you feeling sad. It's a noir series. If it was light, airy and happy they'd get criticized for ditching the source material.
