When E! network host Maria Menounos and her partner, producer-director Keven Underago, saw footage of This Isn.t Funny in post, they volunteered to join the team of producers. That tie-up could be an asset as the romantic comedy, the directing debut of Canberra-born, Us-based actor and filmmaker Paul Ashton, is launched on the Us festival circuit to help facilitate deals with distributors in the Us, Australia and the rest of the world. Starring Anthony Lapaglia, Gia Carides, Angie Milliken, Katie Page and Ashton, the film will have its world premiere on March 27 at the Cleveland International Film Festival, followed by the Dallas International Film Festival. Ashton, who co-wrote the screenplay with Page, plays Jamie, a perpetual traveller who brims with unfulfilled potential. Page is Eliot, a stand-up comic with a severe anxiety disorder. They fall for each other, romance blossoms then fractures, forcing them to examine their preconceptions about family and identity.

CBS has turned to young, charismatic TV veteran Mehcad Brooks to play Jimmy Olsen in their new series, Supergirl. Brooks has appeared in shows like True Blood and Necessary Roughness, and will be the new face for Superman's pal. This version of the character will retain his usual occupation- photographer- but shift some things around to work for the timeline of the new show.
For the series, which will be led by Melissa Benoist in the titular role, Olsen will be like the Lois to Kara's Clark. THR claims he'll be a co-worker and love interest for Kara, who grows closer to her after the public emergence of Supergirl. He'll likely be dying to get pictures of Supergirl in action, while a disguised Kara- in glasses and pulled-back hair- pines for him in the background. CBS has cast Necessary Roughness actor Mehcad Brooks to co-star alongside Glee's Melissa Benoist in their adaptation of DC Comics' Supergirl. He will be taking on the role of Jimmy Olsen, and he doesn't look like the bumbling, nerdy kid we all imagined he'd be. This guy looks like he could easily sweep any girl off their feet, and he also looks like he could kick some ass if he needed to.
THR reports that in the series, Olsen is a photographer at CatCo., which is where Kara works as well. He's described as being "the salt of the earth [which] only makes Kara crush on him even more." The report goes on to say that "the character has recently been living and working in National City though the reason is still a secret. As Kara emerges as Supergirl they grow closer."
