The 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards were held Sunday at the Beverly Hills Hilton, hosted by expletive-happy comedienne Kathy Griffin and streamed online at DaytimeEmmys.net, home of the most dreadful pre-show ever.

CBS’ The Young and the Restless came away as this year’s big winner, grabbing gold five times at Sunday night’s main gala, including for Outstanding Drama and for Lead Actor. Sister sudser The Bold and the Beautiful was shut out at the big show, but had scored four statuettes at Friday night’s Creative Arts awards ceremony (see winners list).

I really loved Transformers Prime, the animated series from executive producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Star Trek, Fringe) that concluded last year, and I was sad to see it go. We have good news now, though, that a new animated Transformers series is in production, this time starring Bumblebee leading a new team.

The executive producer is Jeff Kline, who was also with Transformers Prime. We’ll be seeing it on the Hub Network in 2015. Here are the deets:

The sale will see an umber of Xbox games discounted at different times, for varying prices, details of which are not available at this time. Hasbro Studios today laid off the three staffers in its Game & Reality Show Production & Development department under VP Kevin Belinkoff. Belinkoff will continue to oversee the studio’s game show efforts, including current series Family Game Night for sibling Hub network as Hasbro remains committed to the genre. But its game show/reality projects will be handled on a consultant basis. That is the model Hasbro Studios uses on the animation side, where it has produced 850 half-hours with an in-house senior executive working with outside creative consultants.

The Daytime Emmy nominations were announced on Wednesday (May 9), and it was a great day for ABC. The network topped the list with 56 total nods. It was closely followed by PBS with 51.

The soap "General Hospital" helped lead the way for ABC. The program secured 23 nominations including for Outstanding Drama Series. "Sesame Street" and "The Young and the Restless" tied at 16 nominations each.

It was also a fond farewell for the two recently canceled soaps "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." The daytime dramas both secured 11 nominations.

The 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held June 23.

ABC’s General Hospital leads the way with 23 nominations for Daytime Emmy Awards.

The television academy announced Wednesday that the venerable soap opera will compete with NBC’s Days of Our Lives, CBS’ The Young and the Restless and the canceled All My Children of ABC for best daytime drama. NBC’s The Bold and the Beautiful has won the trophy three years in a row but wasn’t nominated this year.

Other repeat winners are possible, though: Ben Bailey of Cash Cab was nominated for best game show host and Dr. Mehmet Oz as best talk show host.

Sesame Street...

Disney Channel, who has built its business on scripted comedies and movies, is venturing into reality with PrankStars, a celebrity-driven hidden-camera series that sounds like CW's upcoming H8R but with fans instead of haters. The series, whose premiere episode features Disney Channel stars Selena Gomez, Debby Ryan and Mitchel Musso, revolves around unsuspecting tweens and teens who are set up by family members and come face to face with their favorite celebrities "in unpredictable and humorous situations." PrankStars, produced by Zoo Prods., premieres July 15. Barry Poznick (Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?), John Stevens (Lingo), Charles Steenveld (Family Game Night) and Rick de Oliveira (All-Star Celebrity Treasure Hunt) are exec producing.
