The actor and comedian appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss the scary incident that occurred on the set of G20 in South Africa.

Anderson, who stars in ABC’s Black-ish and hosts the game show We Are Family, joked about his injury scare, indicating that some fellow actors got a bit too rough in a scene.

Developing the film with a working title of “The Refugee,” Clark said Davis and Tennon’s production banner is “actively working on [it] with some local partners and are in the process of figuring out how to shoot it” in South Africa, adding that “we do plan to shoot that here.”

The veteran production executive described the project as “the true story of a young Sierra Leonean boy who lost his mother in [the country’s civil war] and found himself alone, because no family would take him in any refugee camp.

Despite the MCU being the biggest and most popular superhero cinema outlet in the world today, Prime Video’s The Boys managed to create an almost cult-like following for itself in a matter of a few episodes. Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator for SAG-AFTRA, confirmed Tuesday that fall festival buyers will need to agree to the terms proposed for the guild’s new contract before acquiring projects being promoted under an interim agreement.

“The contract contains assumption provisions which require any party that acquires rights under that collective bargaining agreement to assume the obligation to pay the residuals that are required by the contract,” Crabtree-Ireland said today during an on-the-record chat with press on Zoom.

The SAG-AFTRA union is addressing the interim waiver agreements for select productions to continue during the historic strike.

As part of a memo sent to members on Sunday, July 30 (via Variety), the union called greenlighting independent productions a “vital part” of the strike strategy.

“We are confident that the terms of this agreement, particularly the streaming revenue share, will make distribution of these projects through AMPTP platforms unfeasible, until such time as an industrywide agreement has been reached,” the SAG committee wrote. “We believe the leverage created by increasing competitive pressure on the AMPTP and denying them what they want most will force them back to the table and help bring this strike to an end.”

The memo encouraged indie producers to apply for interim agreements to employ SAG actors on productions; producers must be independent of companies that belong to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, per the exemption rules.

In a message sent to members Sunday evening, the union’s TV/theatrical negotiating committee maintained that these agreements are a “vital part of our strategic approach” during the 2023 negotiations and strike. The majority of projects that are granted these agreements are “entirely independent” from the companies that comprise the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, whose unresolved negotiations with the union have resulted in the current strike, the group stated. SAG-AFTRA sent a letter to members on Sunday night addressing concerns over projects that are continuing to film during the strike using what’s called an “interim agreement.” The SAG-AFTRA TV and Theatrical Negotiating Committee explained in the letter that interim agreements — which they maintain are not waivers — are granted vetted and approved by the union, and allow productions that agree to terms set by SAG-AFTRA, including the proposals rejected by the AMPTP.

“Make no mistake, we are striking the AMPTP companies only, not independent productions that abide by the terms of our Interim Agreement. It behooves us to make this strategic move,” the letter reads.

The letter continues to say that the interim agreements “give many of our journeyman performers and crews the opportunity to pay their rent and feed their families,” and explains that productions moving forward under these agreements prove to the AMPTP that SAG-AFTRA’s terms are workable.

Sarah Silverman has softened her stance on SAG-AFTRA’s strategy to allow certain independent productions to keep shooting during the strike after actors guild president Fran Drescher met with her and other critics of the waiver policy.

In a video posted to Instagram, Silverman said Drescher and SAG-AFTRA national executive director Duncan Crabtree-Ireland laid out the union’s strategy with the waivers in an online meeting this weekend.

As Silverman recounted, SAG-AFTRA requires productions that apply for the waiver to agree to all the terms that the guild proposed to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers prior to the strike.
