The Hunter x Hunter mangaka had a surprising way of appreciating sports anime and this includes how and who he supports in Kuroko’s Basketball. Despite the story being made to root for Kuroko and Seirin High, Togashi opted to feel otherwise and have a bias toward other teams.

Haikyuu is one of the most celebrated and popular anime in the sports genre. Even a decade after its release, it continues to be relevant. This is especially true with the themes of team play and coordination.
The series stands as an inspiration for several sports anime. It is praised for its well-written and developed characters. So much so that even the Director will vouch for it.

In a recent interview, Susumu Mitsunaka revealed his favorite character from the show. Unsurprisingly, it isn’t Shōyō Hinata or Yū Nishinoya but Ryūnosuke Tanaka.
His reasons for picking the character may seem absurd to most fans but it’d make sense. Especially when we think about how it ties well to the core themes of the series. By and by, the series has excelled in its portrayal of teamplay and coordination.

Blue Lock Season 2 has presented a noticeable drop in animation quality in episodes 2 and 3 compared to the last installment of the series. This has disappointed many viewers who were anticipating the build-up to the game against Japan U-20, even making some conflicted about keeping watching or just switching to the source material to continue the story. However, one of the most praised aspects so far in Blue Lock Season 2 has been the post-credits scenes.
While most anime end with a short preview of what will happen in the next episode, Blue Lock presents a special segment called Additional Time, which usually comes from the small sketch art presented on extra pages included in the volumes of the manga that serve as bonus chapters and state additional interactions between the characters. The additional time features fun situations and additional aspects of the characters that cant be covered in the main story,...

Most animation studios are in the limelight for a bad reason. Be it pacing or inauthenticity, anime is being heavily criticized. This is especially true for Junji Ito’s magnum opus Uzumaki. With its botched visuals and inauthentic adaptation, One Piece animator couldn’t help but rant. This is especially true regarding the last few episodes of the series.

Blue Lock was all the rage with its novel take on the sports genre. From its sales to its positive reception, it seemed more than promising. With its second installment, however, things are going downhill. Especially with the series’ drop in quality that had fans calling it a PowerPoint presentation. There is a solid reason for this blunder nonetheless.

The awful animation had several fans expressing their utter disappointment in the franchise. While overpromising and underdelivering isn’t uncommon, 8bit Studio’s failure stands as a testimony to that. However, there’s more to it than meets the eye, especially with the studio’s priorities. This only proves that they won’t be ridding themselves of the PowerPoint stereotype anytime soon.

Many sports anime are cursed with severe inaccuracies in the sports they are portraying. The players in the anime end up gaining supernatural powers when the world of sports relies solely on hard work. One recent sports anime has come under the spotlight for the same curse and it’s sadly Blue Lock. While it is generally an enjoyable show, it has wild inaccuracies that most fans are picking up on now. Some argue that the mangaka has never even watched a football match. Does the mangaka need prior knowledge of the sport they write about to make it a good anime?

Gintama is the epitome of comedy anime, and Hideaki Sorachi often tests the boundaries of censorship and copyrights with it. The mangaka cares little about how it will affect hs series as long as the episode is funny and he gets to attack the anime staff with his clever jabs.
From Dragon Ball and Naruto to One Piece, Gintama has parodied some of the biggest names in the anime world. In fact, Sorachi is not afraid of calling out animation staff, Bandai Namco, and even superiors in the company through Gintoki. Gintama does not break the fourth wall because it simply does not exist in the series.

Let’s begin with one of the biggest anime, Dragon Ball. Gintama The Final, which was supposed to be the last we ever see of Gintama (a blatant lie), begins with a parody of Dragon Ball.

Unintentionally funny moments in anime can happen in any genre, from basketball to horror, adding unexpected humor to serious scenes. Characters like Shintaro Midorima, Sasuke, and Light Yagami have provided unintentionally hilarious moments that stand out in their respective series. From characters fighting imaginary bugs to serious moments turned funny, anime has a way of adding humor to unexpected situations, creating memorable scenes.
There's nothing funnier in anime than an unintentionally hilarious moment. Sometimes a story will try to create a serious moment only for it to look hilarious. None of these moments were ever intended to be funny, which makes them even funnier. Having an unintentionally hilarious moment is probably pretty bad for a show's overall message, but it can be a fun moment of reprieve in an otherwise serious setting. Plus, it's fun to go back and watch the unintentionally hilarious moments out of context where they're even funnier.

Terminator Zero takes place in 1997, connecting to the original Judgment Day date in Terminator 2. Production I.G, known for Ghost in the Shell: Sac, is behind Terminator Zero. Like Sac for Ghost in the Shell, Terminator Zero could be a great addition to the franchise.
There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Netflixs upcoming Terminator show, but one 22-year-old sci-fi anime series might be the biggest one. Despite the uncertainty regarding Terminator 7, the franchise will continue soon with a Netflix original animated series. After a series of disappointing Terminator movies, a return to the small screen 15 years after The Sarah Connor Chronicles cancelation may be exactly what the franchise needs.
Timothy Olyphant will voice the Terminator in Terminator Zero, which will take place in 1997. Terminator Zeros timeline matches the original Judgment Day date from Terminator 2, a promising connection between the show and the sagas best movie.

Welcome, readers, to Late to the Party , a column that's right on time when it comes to catching up on anime everyone's already watched. This column addresses a universal truth in regard to being an anime fan: an anime backlog is quite the powerful beast. Many of us have one, where we amass more and more content we have designated in the "planning to watch" category. Haikyuu!! release in 2012 revitalized interest in volleyball among Japanese youth, with the number of students joining volleyball clubs increasing significantly. Many players were inspired and motivated by Haikyuu!!, reading the manga with their teams and finding personal resonance with the characters and storylines. Unlike other sports anime, Haikyuu!! succeeds in presenting realistic volleyball actions in a compelling and inspiring way, resonating with athletes worldwide and attracting new players to the sport.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that anime and manga are in many corners of Japanese society, but one specific sports series, Haikyuu!!, helped revitalize a declining sport in the country thanks to its popularity.

Green Green Greens takes a character-driven approach instead of relying heavily on action and sports sequences. The debut chapter focuses more on the friendship between the two protagonists rather than showcasing golf as the main focus. The success of the character-driven approach suggests that manga creators can prioritize character development over action to create a compelling series.
The new sports manga Green Green Greens is trying an alternate path to success – with implications that could prove revolutionary to how Shōnen Jump approaches new series debuts. In the ultra-competitive manga industry, the key for a new series to remain in Shōnen Jump's weekly publication rotation is to get popular as fast as possible. Normally, this entails heavy doses of action and mesmerizing storytelling. Shōnen Jump's target market is action-oriented manga appealing to teenage boys and young men.

Sports manga have always had a cultural impact, with series like Slam Dunk and Haikyuu!! influencing the popularity of basketball and volleyball in Japan and neighboring countries. Despite the rise in dark fantasy shnen in recent years, the success of Blue Lock and other sports manga shows that the genre is getting attention once again. New sports manga are incorporating other genres like coming-of-age and romance, making them even more appealing to a wider range of readers.

As one of the most thrilling sports out there, boxing anime makes for some of the best action in the genre. After American sailors introduced boxing to Japan in the nineteenth century, the sport quickly took off. Now, it remains a popular combat sport in Japan, alongside wrestling and other martial arts.

If you have ever seen any sports anime, such as the recent “Haikyuu!!” or “Kuroko's Basketball” for example, you probably realize that the Japanese treat them much like shonen, with the protagonists meeting stronger and stronger opponents, losing, training, winning and again from the beginning, along with the flashbacks during battle that present the background of the various characters appearing in the series. Furthermore, presenting aspects that are mundane in sports, like a dribble or a rebound as deeds of epic proportions on occasion, will probably make you wonder if the creators of such series have any clue about the sport they deal with, or if they know something only utmost professionals do. “Blue Lock” definitely follows the same path, by adding, however, a number of elements that could be described as dystopian, which, in the end, make it stand out.

As part of Dragon Ball's ongoing - and upcoming - anniversary celebration, one of the hit series' covers has been reimagined by a popular mangaka. The latest entry in the Dragon Ball Super Project Gallery comes from Tadatoshi Fujimaki. This cover redesign takes a humorous turn by creating a new scene inspired by Akira Toriyama's original artwork.
In 2024, Dragon Ball will be celebrating its fortieth anniversary. The hit series began publishing in 1984 and has been a global phenomenon. As one of the most popular anime and best-selling manga series in history, there is a lot for Dragon Ball to celebrate, and any commemoration should understandably take the series' scale into consideration. One part of this celebration is the Dragon Ball Super Project Gallery, which will have all forty-two original volumes in the series reimagined by other famous mangaka. These homages have ranged from direct imitations to major stylistic twists.

Director Shunsuke Tada and writer Noburo Takagi adapted Tadoshi’s Fugimaki 30 volume sport manga (firstly serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump) into a three season anime series that aired from 2012 to 2015 and they did it wholeheartedly. “Kuroko’s Basketball” is the latest, not to mention the most exceptional addition to the sport anime genre that makes up a “Slam Dunk” (1993) for the 2010’s.
Tetsuya Kuroko is doe-eyed. A boy of not great physic. He is a phantom. A shadow in search of a light. At a first glance, Kuroko seems to be the good samaritan of high school basketball teams, either it is the great Teiko Junior High School team, also known as the Generation of Miracles, either the talented but struggling team of Seirin High. Although his motives aren’t vicious at all, Kuroko is a parasite looking for a host in order his exceptional and mysterious qualification in basketball to shine.

Netflix is adding a total of 18 new movies and TV series to its library over the next seven days. While that’s not the biggest haul of fresh additions ever, especially after everything that dropped on the platform during the first week of January, it still contains a bunch of must-see titles, including both original content and newly licensed films, that you’ll want to check out.
Monday kicks things off with hard-hitting documentary Crack and French comedy-drama The Intouchables. On Tuesday, meanwhile, the fourth season of British series Last Tango in Halifax debuts. Wednesday then delivers a couple of titles for crime enthusiasts – 2017 thriller An Imperfect Murder (also known as The Private Life of a Modern Woman) starring Sienna Miller and Alec Baldwin and documentary Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer.

The first month of a new year is a good time to make a new impression. And that’s just what Netflix seems set on doing with its list of new releases for January 2021.
The streamer is coming out strong with a third season of Cobra Kai, formerly of YouTube Premium. The next installment in Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence’s story is set to arrive…eventually. Netflix has not unveiled a released date yet but it will be during this month. While Cobra Kai is the highlight among Netflix’ original series, it’s not the only one by a long shot. Last year’s fun Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous returns for a second season on Jan. 22 and it will be accompanied by Fate: The Winx Saga. Also, if you’re a fan of things that will one day be .gif’ed to death, the Nicolas Cage-hosted History of Swear Words drops on Jan.
