In one scene, Barry Keoghan;s character describes the song "Murder on the Dance Floor" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor was "a bad song." Coincidentally, this is the second time Keoghan and "Murder on the Dancefloor" have been paired together as the song is featured heavily in Saltburn (2023)'s infamous ending where his character dances naked through the titular estate to the song. The line was added in post production via ADR; Keoghan stated in an interview at the Cannes Film Festival premiere that it was not his idea, but he appreciated the reference as a sort of fourth wall break.
This is the first time Burial has composed original music for a film, the reclusive London producer is widely considered one of the most influential electronic music artists of the 21st century.
Director Andrea Arnold used footage from this film to make the music video for the song "Bug" by Irish rock band Fontaines D.C. Bug is also the name of Barry Keoghan's character in this film.
At one point in the film, Bug and his friends are in his house partying and singing along to a recording of the song 'Jolly Fucker' by English post-punk duo Sleaford Mods . Shortly after that scene, the lead singer of the Sleaford Mods, Jason Williamson, appears as an actor in the film, playing the part of Fred.
