The series is described as taking place 15 years in the future “when science has made a discovery that changes the lives of everyone on the planet – a test that unequivocally tells you who your soulmate is.”
The cast includes Malin Akerman (“Billions”) Charlie Heaton (“Stranger Things”) Betsy Brandt (“Breaking Bad”), JJ Feild (“Turn”), Sarah Snook (“Succession”), David Costabile (“Breaking Bad”) and Sonya Cassidy (“Lodge 49”).
“We are so delighted to have the opportunity to continue working with the incredible team at AMC to tell more of our romantically unromantic love stories and can’t wait to get back into the world they helped us create,” Bridges and Goldstein said.

With April wrapping up, we can once again look back. We’ve officially finished up with the first third of the calendar. As such, I wanted to once again highlight the best of the year so far, consisting of my top ten and various awards for 2019 to date. Much like last time around, when I did the first quarter of the year at the start of April, I’m mostly limiting it to things that have already hit theaters. My only exception in the past has been that I’d include eligible titles from the currently ongoing Tribeca Film Festival, but since that’s still in progress, I’ll hold off. There are some others from the year that I’m fond of and might have otherwise included, but I didn’t want to cheat, so they’re on hold and will be given a special citation. Basically, it’s an arbitrary decision,...

January continues its slow roll on the Specialty side this weekend with very few anticipated limited releases. IFC Films has the headliner of the weekend with political thriller An Acceptable Loss starring Tika Sumpter and Jamie Lee Curtis. Chicago Fire director Joe Chappelle wrote and directed the title after finding inspiration from two documentaries by Errol Morris. Brooklyn-based Distrib Films believes it found an under-the-radar gem in last year’s Berlin Film Festival with The Heiresses, which took two Silver Bears at the event in the German capital.
Other openers this weekend include Screen Media’s 2016 Tribeca Nora Ephron prize-winner Adult Life Skills, as well as Freestyle Digital Media’s I Hate The Kids and Rlj Entertainment’s The Standoff at Sparrow Creek.

"You need to lighten up!" Screen Media Films has debuted an official Us trailer for an indie comedy titled Adult Life Skills, a coming-of-age about an almost-30 woman who needs to grow up and move out of her mum's shed in the backyard. This film originally premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival back in 2016, and also opened in the UK also in 2016. It's somehow just now getting a Us release this January, almost three years later. Jodie Whittaker stars as Anna, a woman comfortable living in her mom's garden shed making funny videos all day with her thumbs, but as she approaches 30, she starts feeling the pressure to move on and "grow up" without compromising her youthful spirit. How quaint. In addition to Whittaker, the film's cast includes Edward Hogg, Lorraine Ashbourne, Brett Goldstein, Eileen Davies, Alice Lowe, and Ozzy Myers. Not really sure this is going to be that...

Film fans have no doubt seen the premise of an adult living in their parents’ basement, unable to cope with the outside world and mature into a responsible human before. But this time, the story stars Jodie Whittaker, who makes little movies with her thumbs, and doesn’t live in her mom’s basement, instead choosing a shed in the backyard, in the film “Adult Life Skills.”
In the trailer for the film, we meet Anna, an adult living in her mom’s shed that is desperately trying to avoid life after the death of her brother.

She will first appear in this year's Christmas special, when Peter Capaldi regenerates, and will make her full-time debut in next year's series. She's worked with new executive producer Chris Chibnall before, playing grieving...

As DVD and Blu-ray sales fall, it's no longer certain that films will get a disc release. So what's happening?
Let’s start with a statistic.
In 2013, Hotel Transylvania shifted 1,029,614 copies on Blu-ray disc in the Us alone. A hefty number, yet the animated hit – which has thus far spawned one sequel, with another on the way – was only the 23rd best-selling Blu-ray release of the year in America that year, just trailing titles such as Turbo, Rise Of The Guardians, Django Unchained and Life Of Pi.
2013 was arguably the peak year for Blu-ray sales, with 23 individual titles selling a million copies or more in the Us. The best-selling of all, Despicable Me 2, shifted 4.6m copies alone, and many more overseas. On the DVD format, meanwhile, 45 different films sold a million units in America in 2013, including another 2.7m copies of Hotel Transylvania.

Playwright Stoppard wins outstanding contribution award.
Tom Stoppard was presented with the outstanding contribution to writing award at the 2017 Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Awards.
Stoppard accepted the honour from fellow playwright David Edgar at the ceremony on Monday (January 23), held at the Royal College of Physicians.
He said: “For a writer, no award can compare to an award from other writers. The Writers’ Guild is a bright spot in a dark world and I feel very grateful to it.”
Stoppard has written extensively for the stage, TV and film. His plays Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead, Travesties, and The Real Thing all won Tony Awards.
He also co-wrote Shakespeare In Love (which won him an Oscar) and Brazil.
Presenting him the award, Edgar said: “Like the BBC, he [Stoppard] has educated and entertained. Like no one else, he has challenged, dazzled, and amazed.”

Over the years, we’ve heard from our readers that one of the most important things we can do is to help you discover movies that may have slipped by mainstream audiences. Because as many studies have shown, there are some voices that aren’t as well-represented as others. Them’s the facts.

Viola Davis, John Goodman, Bryce Dallas Howard and more, in our rundown of 2016's underrated movie acting work.
This article contains minor spoilers for Pete's Dragon, Suicide Squad and Warcraft: The Beginning.
Nobody is likely to look back on 2016 fondly, whether because of global political instability, celebrity deaths or the rejection of Boaty McBoatface as a suitable name for a research vessel. In the world of film, we note that a lot of the contenders in this year's awards season haven't even been released in UK cinemas yet, and it was hardly a banner year for blockbuster cinema either.
On the plus side, there were some exemplary smaller films, of the kind that awards bodies tend to overlook, released in the last 12 months. Without any apparent genre contenders, like The Martian or Mad Max: Fury Road in 2015, this is a year in which performers are more likely...
