It's truly a testament to Kingsley Ben-Adir's talents that in a show as abysmal as Marvel's "Secret Invasion," he still managed to squeeze a gem of a performance out of it. There's a lot that went wrong with "Secret Invasion," but Ben-Adir as the disillusioned Skrull, Gravik, brought a level of gravitas to the freedom fighter who believes the best way forward for Skrull liberation is to make Earth only hospitable for the alien race. It's only a shame Gravik dies at the end of the show, thereby preventing him from really making a mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a better project, but it shows how Ben-Adir is so often the best part of whatever he's in.
After making a mark in the theatre world, Kingsley Ben-Adir started appearing in an assortment of British television, as he himself was born in London, England. Now, he's starred in...

With the holiday season fast approaching, it is almost time to revisit beloved Christmas films, and plenty of people may find themselves turning to Disney to scratch that itch. Many of the best Christmas films are nostalgic and timeless, reminding us of family traditions, past holiday memories, and lessons of goodwill. Whether Christmas or not, Disney is a studio that excels at making movies with these themes.
The studio, one of the oldest and most prevalent in Hollywood, has created several popular holiday films, from classic holiday movies like Miracle on 34th Street to newer projects like Noelle, with its delightful cast. At times, they have even used the holiday season to bring back well-loved Disney characters for Christmas specials, whether it be full-length films or Disney's great holiday and winter shorts. However, some of the studio's best holiday projects have a few things in common: beloved characters, important life lessons,...

When most people think about the history of reality TV, there are some chapters they forget. For example, before today's best reality competition shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race began, The Dating Game featured real people competing for a date.
Since Netflix premieres shows featuring A-list celebrities and movies with huge film stars, it makes sense the streaming service will feature Anna Kendrick's directorial debut. However, the thing that fans of the famous and rich Anna Kendrick wouldn't expect is what her directorial debut is about. After all, Anna chose to direct and star in a movie that shines light on the most disturbing episode of The Dating Game.

Social media users recently marveled that last month marked 20 years since three modern Christmas favorites — New Line’s Elf, Universal’s Love Actually and Miramax’s Bad Santa — all hit theaters within weeks of each other. Two decades later, you don’t need to feel like a cotton-headed ninny-muggins if you’re among those wondering why studios don’t release holiday theatrical offerings in the way they once did.
Although most Christmas films don’t tend to follow the path of, say, 1990’s Home Alone, which topped the domestic box office for a whopping 12 straight weeks, they had typically been a staple of the release calendar, with a handful of titles hitting theaters annually, as recently as the late 2010s. That list includes such 2016 theatrical offerings as Almost Christmas, Bad Santa 2, Office Christmas Party and Why Him?, followed by 2017’s Daddy’s Home 2, A Bad Moms Christmas and animated...

Christmas movies come in various genres, including horror, comedy, drama, and action, providing options for fans of all genres. Krampus, Noelle, The Night Before, The Grinch, Jingle Jangle, Last Christmas, Better Watch Out, and Happiest Season are recent Christmas movies worth watching. These movies capture the holiday spirit through festive visuals, holiday songs, and themes, while offering unique and entertaining storylines.
Every year around the holidays, Christmas movies begin to flood streaming services and network television and people can watch some of the most beloved holiday movies from the past. However, there are also more recent Christmas movies that deserve attention as well, many of which are even better than the ones from years past. While many of the more recent Christmas movies veer into the territory of romantic comedies, there are also plenty of others to choose from, including dramas, family films, horror movies, and action flicks taking place during the holiday season.

Christmas movies that are iconic and beloved tend to be live-action and focus on family and holiday themes, without going dark or experimental. While new holiday movies are released every year, it takes a lot to be considered among the best of all time, and the most iconic are tried and true classics. The best Christmas movies include a variety of genres, from family comedies like National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Elf, to romantic tales like The Holiday and Love Actually, to heartwarming stories like A Christmas Carol and It's A Wonderful Life.

Anna Kendrick has been making waves in Hollywood since her film debut in 2003's "Camp." Throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s, Kendrick gained traction as an actor, appearing in four of the five Twilight movies, as well as "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," "Up in the Air," and "50/50" all by 2011. Arguably, she exploded into the spotlight following her role as Beca Mitchell in the 2013 musical comedy "Pitch Perfect," in which she starred alongside Rebel Wilson, Adam DeVine, and Brittany Snow.
Since the success from "Pitch Perfect," Kendrick has continued to take on lead roles in animated films like "Trolls" and heartwarming holiday movies like Disney+'s "Noelle." Most recently, the actor diverted from her musical/comedic roots and starred in the indie psychological thriller "Alice, Darling."
Outside of her prolific acting career, Kendrick typically keeps her personal life private. However, Kendrick garnered attention after she was rumored to...

The vast majority of shonen manga's disregard for romance in 2022 naturally complicates a list that celebrates the best couples in manga. Moreover, most of the already few series that do greatly benefit by featuring these types of relationships focused on other aspects of their stories this year or have been building up to a moment that never had a chance to transpire in 2022.
Unfortunately, Blue Exorcist, which ended its hiatus almost halfway through 2022 in May, never had a chance to explore the deepening relationship between Rin and Shiemi as the Vatican took Shiemi to the mysterious Saiku Palace where she has been learning about her true purpose since chapter 99.5 (which came out in 2020). In fact, it was during chapter 99.5 that she finally admitted her feelings for Rin, and in chapter 114 when just getting to see Rin's face during his brief visit at the palace made her feel better. Dr. Nicole Martin called out The Real Housewives of Miami co-star Larsa Pippen and accused her of trying to "destroy" and "ruin" Julia Lemigova's marriage. Larsa is at odds with a number of the housewives in Rhom season 5. The new season premiered recently and revealed Larsa's rift with her longtime friend Lisa Hochstein. Larsa and Lisa spewed insults at each other after Larsa caught wind of Lisa's shady remarks about her new high-rise condo. Elsewhere, Larsa explained her ongoing feud with Julia and Adriana de Moura. But it looks like Lisa, Julia, and Adriana aren't the only people on Larsa's hit list.
Nicole is sounding off in response to Larsa unearthing claims that Julia was caught making out with a mystery man. With Julia being married to tennis legend Martina Navratilova, Nicole believes Larsa was purposely trying to "destroy" Julia's marriage by bringing up the gossip during filming for Rhom.

Though Hulu might not be the first streaming platform audiences would think of when it comes to Christmas movies, it holds its own against some of the bigger services. Disney+ might have Home Alone and HBO Max might have Miracle on 34th Street, but between some original content, a couple of 'so bad they're good' movies, and soon-to-be classics, Hulu is a major player in the streaming world when it comes to Christmas flicks.

Anna Kendrick’s “Alice, Darling,” directed by Mary Nighy, has released its first trailer.
Nighy, the daughter of “Living” star Bill Nighy, brought her directorial debut to Toronto Film Festival back in September for its world premiere. The psychological thriller also stars Kaniehtiio Horn, Charlie Carrick and Wunmi Mosaku.
Nominated for an Academy Award for “Up in the Air” (2009), Kendrick stars in “Alice, Darling” as a woman pushed to the breaking point by her psychologically abusive boyfriend, Simon. While on vacation with two close girlfriends, Alice rediscovers her essence and gains some much-needed perspective. Slowly, she starts to fray the cords of codependency that bind her. But Simon’s vengeance is as inevitable as it is shattering — and, once unleashed, it tests Alice’s strength, courage, and the bonds of her deep-rooted friendships.

The 2010s were a phenomenal decade for movies. From the conclusion of the Harry Potter franchise and the revival of the Star Wars franchise to a push for inclusivity with films like Love, Simon, and Crazy Rich Asians. The 2010s really were a "golden age" for movies. In addition to several box office hits and Academy Award-winning films, the 2010s also revitalized the Christmas movie genre creating instant Christmas movie classics.
While there is certainly no shortage of Christmas movies out there, the 2010s managed to reinvent the genre by borrowing from other genres. Sure, there are traditional family-friendly Christmas movies and comedy Christmas movies, but the 2010s also ventured into horror Christmas movies and even created some R-rated Christmas movies that are definitely meant for adults.

The steady drumbeat of Disney+'s competitive spirit with the de facto streaming giant, Netflix, continues to grow. Every year there are new Christmas movies released around the holidays that bring new versions of merriment and holiday cheer. This year, Spirited, starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, brings a comedic take on Dickens' A Christmas Carol.
There are plenty of Christmas movies to choose from around the holidays, and sometimes it can be hard to only pick a few for a family watch list. Disney+ is a good streaming service to narrow down viewers' options. Redditors shared their opinion on which Disney Christmas movie is the best to watch this holiday season.
The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992)
The Muppets are classics no matter what time of year it is, but Christmas is a fun time of year for these quirky puppets thanks to this adaptation of a classic Christmas story. This Muppet's interpretation of A Christmas Carol is a fun, humorous addition to anyone's Christmas watch list.

Being the most iconic figure of the Christmas season, it's no suprise that there are tons of movies the features Santa Claus, and everyone knows what to expect when Santa appears in a movie. Most of the time, anyway.
In Violent Night, David Harbour becomes the latest actor to embody Saint Nick, but his take on the character is a drastic turn from the holly, jolly Claus most imagine. While a more adult, acton-oriented Santa may be a departure from tradition, this isn’t the first time that a movie has made drastic changes to Santa’s character or the Santa iconography.
Fatman Streaming On Peacock
Much like Violent Night, the Santa in Fatman is much more action-oriented. Played by Mel Gibson, this version of Santa finds himself being hunted by a hitman who has been hired by a spoiled rich kid upset that he’s been given coal for Christmas.

Disney is known for its successful themed holiday movies; the same can be said for Christmas. Whether it's a cartoon showing the holiday hopes of Mickey and Minnie Mouse or a mega motion picture starring Tim Allen dressed as Santa Claus, Disney's Christmas movies vary in subject and design.
Disney has added a more modern take to Christmas movies over the years. However, the theme of family, holiday magic, and love always comes through — it's what makes these movies fan-favorites to rewatch every holiday season. Thankfully, those with Disney+ subscriptions can stream these movies and watch them as many times as they want this holiday season.

Everyone loves a fun Christmas movie, and Apple TV+ released one of its own on November 18. Spirited is a movie musical starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. It's received mixed reviews from audiences, especially those who saw the film at Regal Cinemas' November mystery movie night expecting to see something else.
Spirited is a creative twist on the Charles Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol" in which the ghosts and their jobs are the main focus of the film. This holiday movie is reminiscent of those that came before it, so viewers who like Spirited may find enjoyment in several other Christmas movies.

Peter Billingsley returns to lead the A Christmas Story Christmas cast, which is filled with returning characters and new faces. The original A Christmas Story was released in 1983 and followed Ralphie Parker as he attempted to get a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle from Santa. The film quickly became an iconic Christmas movie, but Warner Bros. found a way to return to the characters decades later with A Christmas Story Christmas. The sequel provides a glimpse at Ralph's life as an adult as he learns about the difficulties that can come with trying to pull off the perfect Christmas.

Kingsley Ben-Adir is set to play Bob Marley in the upcoming authorized biopic of the reggae legend, Variety reports.
The British actor was cast after a year-long search to fill the role. Neither a title, nor any plot details or other cast members have been announced, but the film will be helmed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who most recently directed the Oscar-nominated King Richard.
Ben-Adir’s most recent film role was playing Malcolm X in Regina King’s 2020 semi-biographical drama, One Night in Miami…. He also appeared in the 2018 thriller...

Stars: Peyton List, Tobin Bell, Lydia Hearst, Swen Temmel, Andrew Biernat, Nick Vallelonga, Ashley Atwood, Christa Collins, Christopher Corbin, Joseph Schwartz, Hamish Sturgeon | Written and Directed by Daniel Farrands
In recent years writer/director Daniel Farrands, who penned 1995’s Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (still a personal favourite in the franchise) has turned his hand to creating films about some of America’s most notorious serial killers – starting with 2018’s The Amityville Murders, following that up with writing and directing The Haunting of Sharon Tate in 2019 and directing The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson the same year. I’m not sure what Farrands’ obsession with such infamous cases is but it has resulted in films of varying quality, with the most-recent Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman easily the best of the bunch – mainly because Farrands told the story of Bundy as a literal boogeyman, playing up the horror elements...

The Love Life between Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader, it turns out, is strong. The couple, who co-starred in the 2019 Christmas movie Noelle, have quietly been in a relationship together for more than a year, according to People. Citing a source, the outlet reports that Anna, 36, and Bill, 43, met years ago but got together well after filming their Disney+ flick. E! News has reached out to Bill and Anna's reps for comment. Their representative declined to comment for People. News of the pair's secret romance comes more than a year after Bill and The O.C. alum Rachel Bilson called it quits. The two, who first sparked romance rumors in late 2019 before making their red-carpet...

The Golden Trailer Awards, which honor the best trailers in movie and TV/streaming marketing, awarded Paramount’s A Quiet Place: Part II its marquee Best of Show honor Thursday night during a ceremony in Greenville, Tn.
The awards, founded and run by sisters Evelyn Brady-Watters and Monica Brady, returned after pausing for a year because of the Covid pandemic, with last night’s ceremony honoring campaigns and the companies behind them culled from a widened eligibility window for content created between April 2019-April 2021.
That meant winners in the 16 categories revealed onstage included recent releases like Black Widow and F9 but also the likes of Joker, Uncut Gems, Queen & Slim and Jojo Rabbit, which also took honors last night at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center. There were also a slew of non-show category winners announced from Trashiest Trailer to the Don Lafontaine Award for Best Voice Over (see the full...

Universal has set “Bros,” a romantic comedy starring and co-written by Billy Eichner, for release on August 12, 2022.
Universal is touting Eichner’s “Bros” as the first openly gay man to star and co-write his own major studio film. And “Bros” is certainly the rare major studio romantic comedy that will feature two gay leads as they each try to maybe, possibly, probably stumble towards love…that is, if they can find the time. They’re both very busy.
Nicholas Stoller is directing “Bros,” and Stoller also co-wrote the screenplay with Eichner. The film is described as a smart, swoony and heartfelt comedy about finding sex, love and romance amidst the madness.
“Bros” is produced by Judd Apatow, Stoller and Joshua Church, and Billy Eichner also serves as an executive producer on the film.

Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, Jim Brown, and Muhammad Ali walk into a motel room. No really, this isn’t a put-on. It’s an event that actually happened (more or less) on the night that Ali won the heavyweight championship of the world in 1964, and right before he changed his name from Cassius Clay. Now what these four historic figures at the intersection of Black male celebrity and wider American pop culture said to each other that evening is unknown… but it makes the mind wander; it also makes for a hell of a good story in One Night in Miami.

Disney+ has a wide variety of Christmas movies, but Noelle is certainly one of the best. Made specifically for the streaming service, this hilarious movie has a great balance of heart and comedy in order to make it accessible to everyone. But one of the big reasons people of all ages can enjoy this is the characters.

There is truly someone for everyone to like and relate within this movie, which is brilliant to see. All bases are covered and obviously, with it being a festive movie, the characters are all nice. However, some just stand out and spread the Christmas cheer that much more than the rest.

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to alter people’s holiday celebrations, many people are finding that watching holiday films is one tradition that can continue. While there has been no meaningful change in the percentage of speaking characters with disabilities in these top-grossing films in the past five years with just 2.3 percent of the 4,451 characters analyzed in the 100 top-grossing films of 2019 by the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism having a disability, several holiday films are bucking this trend. And for the one-in-four people in the U.S. who have a disability, that means there are more opportunities to see ourselves reflected on screen.

A chorus of Happy Birthday, please, for one Michael Theodore “Mickey” Mouse, who reaches the grand old age of 92 this month. As befits his advanced years, Mickey will likely be celebrating with a swig or two of Pepto Bismol and the Band of Brothers DVD boxset. Or, if he fancies, he could always fire up Disney + UK and catch some new episodes of The Mandalorian (starting Friday the 30th of October) The Simpsons, and Agents of Shield, all of which will be on the streaming service in November.
(Though now I think about it, Mickey Mouse lives in America, doesn’t he? So he’ll already have seen most of that. And Noelle, the new Anna Kendrick Christmas film that came out in the US last year. Some people have it all.)
Here’s what’s new on Disney Plus UK this November:
6 November
The Simpsons season 31
13 November
Marvel’s Agents of S.
