Ok, to sum up i've seen all x files up to this one. Enjoyed this, because of all the bad reviews i almost didn't watch it, the AI episode a few back was probably the only episode i've ever turned off it was that bad. This episode is about fear of getting old, manipulation and extremes people are willing to do to avoid it. Enjoyed the performances from other cast members, qwirky at times beyond the obvious blood. If you're a fan and and watched the earlier episodes i know it's not quite the same, but this was ok. As other reviewers have mentioned...'Home' comes to mind but it certainly isn't that, but then that's one of the finest...give it a try.

This one was rather uninteresting. The opening scene did promise a more interesting episode, but in the end all looked rather empty, disappointing and ... not so well connected.
The story about eternal youth and beauty intertwined with faith and you get pretty nothing.
Plus, I could not help but wonder if the episode was kind of a mockery towards Scully/Gillian and all her botox/surgeries or whatever she had to look younger.
6 from me.

Any fan of The X-Files should be familiar with the show's periodic and famous forays into the truly disturbing in episodes such as "Home", "Sanguinarium", and "Our Town." "Home" had a hard time getting past the censors and after it's initial airing was not rerun on network TV for many years. So nothing about "Nothing Lasts Forever" is really out of keeping with The X-Files more gruesome offerings which dabble in such subjects as cannibalism to stay young (Our Town), organ theft to prolong life (I Want to Believe), incest (Home) and parasitism (Sanguinarium). Director James Wong, who also works these days on American Horror Story clued most of us into the fact that this was going to be a bumpy, bloody ride. That may not be your cup of tea, but it is completely in character for the show.
What is also keeping in character with the show is that some of the most gruesome cases also serve as a backdrop to some of the most personal discussions between the two leads. That is also the case for Nothing Lasts Forever in which we find Mulder and Scully having deeply personal conversations about Scully's faith and the future of their relationship in between the machinations of the cult of personality and internal organs.
For fans, and especially shippers, who have been waiting and waiting and waiting for the show to make a definitive statement on where Mulder and Scully's relationship stands before the series' ends, this episode is an instant classic.

Not for the faint of heart, kinda gory. Not very good episode, could have been much better if it delved deeper into good vs evil duality as many classics before. Unless you wanna draw arbitrary connections to the cult of your choice or real cannibalism/vampirism I guess what we can say about the episode is that real vampires definitely do not sparkle..

This is another amazing episode in the great 11th season. The negative reviews are baffling to me.
This is creepy, funny and has one of the best scenes ever between Mulder and Scully at the end.
My only wish would have been a better opening episode to the season and we may have gotten a 12th one.

No there is no metaphor about democrats as stated ignorantly in another review. It's just a bloody episode that tried to rely more on shocks than plot. It actually would have worked a lot better with some editing. It takes too long to go nowhere.

Well, this season was a mess.
Now, standing before the finale, all I can say is - please, end this. These characters and actors don't have to suffer any more.
This episode, although not the worst by this season standards, was still underwhelming at best. The story was just uninteresting. It was weird for the sake of being weird. Buffed with eerie laughs and tons of graphical gore for no good reason. You know your story sucks when you're not sure if its supposed to be funny or frightening.
Mulder and Scully get not that much screen time and even then they barely even move in this one. They do almost no actual investigating, but nobody really cares, even their colleagues. The episode moves itself when needed anyway. This also has a weird superhero revenge subplot and religious overtones handled so poorly it makes you cringe.
The ending dialogue hints on something important coming up in the last episode, yet I won't spoil it for you.
Final verdict - instantly forgettable.

It couldn't be more gross than Grotesque or Our Town. Or weirder than Red Museum. Or as disgusting as Sanguinarium. Even though some of the same topics are in this one. And some of the same gruesome special effects, body parts, and fluids.
I had not recognized Fiona Vroom from the last time I saw her as the cool alien chick from Star Trek Beyond, in fact I mistook Carlena Britch for her for a moment, as she was the one hanging from ropes and doing stunt stuff. Fiona was playing the same person across a gap of about 50 years. Enough time to grow old, but she wasn't. For some reason.
In fact this episode has a lot to say about Skully's Faith. And that Mulder, although he does not share it, will support her. This is the closest Mulder gets. He goes to Church, he even lights a prayer candle. Even though he mistakes it as a birthday candle.
All we know, is a Girl "Juliet", is a modern day Van Helsing of sorts. Issues like aging, Immortality and Vampirism, Religion are all mixed up, as if in a blender, an item which is also used and abused in this episode.
We know that Gillian has said she does not want to do more, so of course the real possibility of the show finally ending is being faced. Although I don't think 6 episodes and then 10 episodes make a very good season 10 and 11. I am very disappointed, not in any of these episodes, cos hey, it's The X Files. But in that we, the fans have been cheated out of two full seasons. Because there is just so much happening in the world today that could be given The X Treatment, and 16 episodes are not enough. And we didn't get to see much of Skinner or Kersh. X-Files works best as an anthology series, not as an episodic series. So there was just not enough time to tell as many great stories as we had in the first 9 seasons. And the story here represents about 1/3rd of the overall X-Files stories.
It's The X-Files, so what were ya expecting, Bambi? Sorry, this is more like Bambi meets Godzhilla. This story is exactly what the series is about. This was like last year's "Babylon" which was also an important and powerful episode, and people just don't get it, especially when they are being made the object of a parody.
Both Fiona and Carlena are given nice "meaty" roles... Fiona sings! She makes us believe that she is who she is acting. And Carlena becomes a mini Gina Carano.

This is not an x file. This is just organ theft. Not really any thing supernatural going on here.

This episode is a great homage to the Hammer horror films of the 1950s through 1970s. It is also a great story of the darkness of religion gone bad and the quest for everlasting life on earth. It is also an interesting look at legitimate faith and struggle with it. It is also a nice story of a timeless relationship between Scully and Mulder. It is a fitting episode about their relationship to begin winding up the series. It also has a good number of tongue and cheek jokes between Mulder and Scully, including one that is something that most men have done at least once with the woman they love, not noticing a change in hair style. I was really disappointed to see the number of bad reviews about the gore of the episode because it was so obvious that they didn't understand the play between this and the Hammer films. Admittedly, none of them were really great films, but they were classic horror schlock that starred some great actors, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, as well as some really beautiful actresses, even if most were B movie scream queens. Worth the watch.

It seems that James Wong never has directed before. I understand why the episode sucks now. First and last directing job maybe. An amazing director can see if a script is wrong and change it. I'm sorry for him, getting a script that stinks.

If you don't work in slaughter house don't watch it. Otherwise feel free: red meat all over, tons of blood and... eating raw human meat, drinking blood from a glass etc. Plot non existent, just pure DISGUST all the time. No twists, no mistery, no investigation, no surprise. Mortician's dream - waste, bowels, dead meat. CRAP.
