The series was criticized upon release for coincidentally being very similar to another series from 2019, the Quintessential Quintuplet. Both shows are about an Poor High School Student who works as a Tutor for a group of academically struggling girls, all of whom fall for him one by one. The comparisons particularly started when the First Season of We Never Learn started exactly one week after the Season Finale of the Quintessential Quintuplet.
In the Early chapters of the Manga, Nariyuki displayed a Slicker, More Cool Design. As he developed though, his design became softer & his Personality more Awkward, as seen in the Anime from the Start.
