Though only roughly around 10 minutes long, this fan film captures the passion and spirit of Batman Beyond in such a realistic way that I completely forgot I was watching a FAN MADE FILM.
When you think of the term "Fan-made film," the first few things that come to mind is bad acting, messy writing, cheesy props, and forgettable cosplay. This film I'm happy to say has NONE of those things.
The editing is fantastic, the writing is easy enough to follow along, but not too generic to where I'm bored and the sound design is top quality. My favorite surprise in the film was the Batman Beyond suit. While many big-budget studios try and often fail to make a comic accurate version of superhero costumes this film basically succeeds on its very first attempt.
The acting can be a bit bland and cringy at times, but really picks up near the final few minutes, and I was beyond impressed with the combat and CGI choreography. Despite this being a low budget fan project you can clearly see that so much love went into this short movie and the fact that they also have the insight and talent to back it up is just icing on the cake.
Now Warner Bros. I'm directly speaking to you...
Whether its rejecting a spider-verse-styled animated movie, canceling a Beyond Arkham Video Game, or denying an officially licensed live action movie you have refused time and time again to grant fans of the DC universe a well deserved Batman Beyond a project.
Despite your poor reception of more than half of the DC project you have approved in recent years, this passion project clearly shows just how much love, respect and support fans have for this IP and instead of neglecting or ignoring the fans. I implore you to work with them as we have been starving for so long to actually enjoy the projects you approve.
Bottom line, I loved this project and I know that Kevin Conroy would as well if he were still around to see it. Great work!

It's certainly not the worst Batman show, but there are a lot of things that work against this project. The portrayals of all the characters come off as poor/boring versions especially the villains. All characters lack chemistry with each other as well.
With Batman/Bruce Wayne there's no depth or character development it's just the same bland and tiresome version of this version of the caped crusader.
I would say the biggest issue I have with this show is that it struggles trying to decide if it's for more mature audiences or if it's kid friendly. One second it's showing PG styled phrasing and cookie-cutter action, the next it's showing murder and serious dark topics yet holds back on showing any blood or graphic depictions. At the end of the day just pick a lane and stick to it.

Positives:
At the end of the day I would just stick with watching the Batman Year One animated movie. As it does a much better job of representing the origin of Batman becoming a true crime fighter while learning how to navigate through corruption and justice.

Merry Little Batman is truly a special and unique film that takes a modern day spin on a Christmas Story.
From countless Easter eggs to endless references from the comics, movies and games everything about this animated film screams respect for the source material.
I can honestly say that this is a movie that has something for everyone. Action, humor, amazing animation, a well-toned soundtrack, and a plot that doesn't feel rushed and emphasizes friendly and family values that both children and adults can pick up.
So much time, love and appreciation went into this film and you can see just how special and universal this movie will be for comic book families for generations to come.
