The Changeling: Battle of the Island (2023)

Trash!!!
15 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What the hell was that?! It's a 400pg book. They've already told about 350pgs of it. They made up the last 2 episodes, so what the hell are they going to do for season 2, Game of thrones it? This was just an extension of episode 5. 15min season finale episode Apple?

That was shorter than a Saturday morning cartoon.

Let's talk about the idiotic execution. 65yr old lady who barely made it down the rope now climbs up to meet the monster, IN THE RAIN? She then proceeds to fist fights the crazy guy 20yrs her Junior who she managed to shoot from the beach below? Guns don't work that way. Who wrote this garbage? Then instead of fighting the monster she jumps off the cliff because she's tired and wants to see her kid again. Lmao. The fk?

The show started off strong but the writers had no idea what to do with it.

Do not waste your brain cells on this trash show.

Incredible!!!!
8 April 2023
The writing the acting. Jeez. One of the best shows I've ever watched. I love it. The characters, the drama, the comedy. Each character has a life of their own and touches the parts of this adventure we call life.

Loneliness, imposter syndrome, rage, betrayal, brotherhood, family. Wow!!!

The writing is amazing! One of the best I've ever seen. Crazy!!! Who wrote this? I want to give them a hug and shake their hand.

I think Isaac's writing might be my favorite, 'tip to tip'. Friends do this all the time.

I know people like this, I think everyone does. That's what makes it so relatable. I wonder if it's an immigrant thing or a universal people thing. We all have our dramas and this show makes it all so enjoyable.

Love love love it!!! More please Netflix!

Loved it!
6 April 2023
Give Terry Star Trek Legacy. No Kurtzman drek!

Loved this episode and the whole season so far. I've been waiting years for lore and data to merge. The emotional beats between data, laforge, picard, riker, etc. Were all there. I want more of THIS story. Not the nonsense Kurtzman is doing. No discovery, no lower decks, no academy; who gave that hack any control. Give the reins to Terry people! This season was a joy. We haven't had real trek in almost 30 years. This is a start.

The threads Terry has woven are excellent. I want more of this. Thankfully the abominations that were season 1 and 2 are being erased or overridden.

Loved it.
16 December 2022
Loved it - Up until the last second. Unnecessary. Incredible protagonist with a compelling story and mysteries. I really hope they pull off the sequel or sequels. I want it.

I gave it a 10 out of 10 and then the last second happened. I had to bring it down.

I don't understand the need, but am willing to let the writers tell the rest of the story as it comes.

I'm disappointed because now it brings the story back to where we were instead of taking us into the next chapter... I suppose we will see.

Wonderful characters, wonderful weave, incredible production design, incredible acting and directing. Overall a great production. Hollywood, take notes. This is how you create a strong protagonist, one with flaws - flaws we all have.

Prey (I) (2022)

Meh...
6 August 2022
It was decent. I hate woke in films - this wasn't that. We've been swamped with preaching for so long it's hard to just see it as it is. Unfortunately the film was boring. When there was action it was good. The pacing was off but understandable; not meant for a blockbuster feel.

Protagonist isn't a Mary Sue, she trains, gets her sss kicked (loved that), and learns from her encounters. Overall a likable protagonist; I'd almost like to see her character in a sequel but don't know how the story would go. Maybe the predators are fighting something they can't win and they recruit the victors of theirs hunts?

The side characters are one note. Also their accents were a little too Los Angeles valley girl for me. The brother was good but also not threatening. The Comanche were a warrior tribe, these guys looked too soft.

For a hunting film there is zero tension. At no moment in the film did I feel the protagonist or what she loves were in real danger, which is my main criticism. What is she fighting for? What is she protecting? Her motivation was to prove herself, which is fine but narcissistic and doesn't a great hero make. The French hunters were more a threat to her and her people than the predator.

The ending was satisfying in its execution. Brains vs brawn which was good and reminded me of Arnold's solutions.

It would have been nice to see the predator without their tech. Hunting an Ant is as formidable as a man hunting a lion with a rocket launcher. Humans being the Ants. The invisible tech is cheating in my opinion. What's the thrill of the hunt when you can kill anything and everything with ease. The motivation Predators have for these hunts is unbelievable and has always been a weakness in the series. If they were "evil" you get it, but they are an advanced civilization that travels space, has been around for thousands of years and hunts Ants(or spiders is you will).

Good tv watch, wouldn't want to see it in the theater. Underwhelming.

A thousand times better than Shane black's abomination last time.

Beautiful cinematography.

They should have gone the safe route and used a male protagonist. Mel Gibson's apocalyptico (spelling) comes to mind - tense in every aspect.

Shia?
1 August 2022
Film was fine but Shia wasn't believable in the slightest. Completely throws you out of the film. Not a threat no matter how many sun glasses he wears.

When everything is a gag
6 July 2022
Nothing is. It becomes boring. I found nothing of value that was added to marvel or thor w this film. Was it cool that the universe was expanded w new characters w different twists, yes... was it good? No. Jeremy Johns and Chris gore said it best - it's a tv episode and it's forgettable. This was made for Disney+ content. What does red letter media say - 'consume new content'? Pft- pathetic attempt. I expected more from this director. Dr. Strange was a mess and this was a missed opportunity. Disney needs to stop w the divisive marketing and maybe hire better writers. The Batman and Robin of Marvel.

The more I think about this "film" the more I despise it.

The opposite of love isn't hate
28 May 2022
It's apathy. Imagine buying an IP for 4 billion dollars only to ruin in a decade.

I despise Disney.

I don't know who this is made for but it's not fans.

Maybe pre-teenage girls?

Is that why they cast a 7 year old to play a ten year old?

Reva isn't a very good actress, or maybe it's the director, who knows. I feel sorry for her because it's not a flattering role.

The show is called kenobi, but we all know it's really about Reva.

I can't understand how they spent 2 episodes setting this show up. What a waste of time.

Complete underutilizing the medium as always. You have 6 hours to tell a compelling story. It should be easy as movies have successfully done it for a century. But no, just stretch out the nonsense.

Lucasfilm sure knows the laws of diminishing returns. I'm out after 2 episodes.

Love, Death & Robots: Jibaro (2022)
Season 3, Episode 9

Masterpiece. This is what Art is.
21 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The females journey.

She's a goddess, beautiful and mysterious. Possessing a wealth of treasures for a worthy suitor. Armies will kill themselves to be with her, to possess her. The one who glimpses a part of her, which makes him afraid of what she has to offer, she chooses. Overcome with his own inability and fears, and unable to sacrifice a part of himself, seeing only the shallow beauty of wealth she might offer, he rapes her, stealing the riches he only perceives as valuable, discards her used body.

She is a force of nature. Deep and dangerous. The lake (her source of strength, herself), he takes her in a river (when she is away from her source of strength) where she ends and the Land(he) begins (the waterfall a torrent of forces between land and water). She returns to the source of her strength(the lake), awakening to what has been done to her. Outraged by the injustice, she destroys him, drowns him in the deepness of her suffering and pain caused by him, him along with the rest of the unworthy suitors who have dared come into her realm and trespass on her. Left a monster instead of a goddess, immortal in time, left to heal from the conflict, awaiting a day the worthy may come.

Haunting. This is what Art is. In 100 years, this simple story will be as relevant now as was a thousand years ago and will be a thousand years hence. While decaying marvel data will be forgotten like the refuse it is, this golden tribute to humanity will still be a treasure to behold and glimpse at. Like the goddess Jibaro herself, only suitable for the worthy.

FIRE this incompetent writer. The whole season was Claire dealing w trauma and addiction but she literally gets kidnapped again and she's keeping it together?

We waited 2 years for another idiotic cliffhanger.

How hard is it to just follow the books you, insert bad word here.

Hum...this isn't Outlander.
25 April 2022
The tone is completely off. I know this is Danielle Berrow's first gig writing but why? We were 5 seasons in and now the 6 season is almost over. Why give a newbie carte Blanche? Having a PhD in Celtic history doesn't make one a Television writer. Well, at least not right away. We don't watch outlander for this l, I don't know what this season has been really. It feels so misguided. My wife and I have given this season a wash. 1 episode left and we are no farther into the story than the first episode. Sorry didn't care about the evil Christie girl. Glad she's dead. Don't care about the mystery of the murderer either.

Did they change writers? This was a terrible episode. This whole season has been trash. Has covid destroyed Hollyweird this much? Whatever is going on stop it. We are 6 seasons in to a ten season arc. Don't go the game of thrones route.

16 February 2022
It's too slow and the editor needs a whipping. It seems like an 80's soap opera. 16 episodes could have been condensed. Way to many states and idiotic plot contrivances but overall a good story with a lot of layers and meaning. Thank you to the creators, but jeez please work on pacing.

Ughhhh
9 February 2022
I really wanted to like this series. Interesting start. Lovable and hateable characters. Wayyyyyyyy overdrawn and annoying at times. They jumped the shark so many times.

The plot holes are cavernous.

It's so cheesy it's disgusting.

It's pretty much anime in live action. Not in a good way.

Great film.
5 February 2022
I enjoyed it very much. Very operatic.

The structure is choppy, but I think that's on purpose. Snapshots instead of trudging into every detail.

Multiple Oscar worthy performances and craftsmanship. (Funny enough the Oscar brand is much like the Gucci of today, diminished.)

Ridley is a master artist. He doesn't always nail the landing, or does he. I think he makes beautiful things but something always seems missing. That could be on purpose, To make the audience want more. It's a curious thought to ponder.

Highly recommend House of Gucci to cinephiles. You will enjoy.

How can a film made in '90 look fresher than a film made 10 years ago?

Writing and directing suck! Bad!

Kate is terrible, Walter white is terrible. Everything is terrible.

Star Wars isn't cyberpunk
17 January 2022
Terrible episode. What was Rodriguez thinking?

The power rangers biker gang was a huge miss. Why can't they pay for water if they have crazy bikes and implants? It's like kids wearing Burberry and saying they can't pay for food.

That chase scene was an abomination. Bad editing? Idk?

The only good thing was the black wookie.

Too slow, too soft. This isn't Bobba Fett. This is Disney.

That shot of Superman in the rain!!! That's all I gotta say! Can I get an 8k nft of that!

This show is doing what every other cw isn't, making good content. Lol. Nope.

Hope the show runners don't allow Warner bros to ruin what they've started w identity nonsense.

Oh wait, that's exactly what they are doing.

Frances is miscast, unfortunately I didn't enjoy her performance.

Some filming choices didn't hit. But it is a masterful production.

Kathryn Hunter truly steals the show.

Denzel knows Shakespeare, but his accent is too New York. While he did an incredible job, I think he could have done even better without his reliance on his famous rhythm.

I hope this troupe takes more Shakespeare. More Denzel and Cohen please.

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed it very much. Not 10/10 but pretty close. Limitations of the medium I suppose. Would have liked to see more Spidey action w our fav spiders.... Would have been great as a part 1 and part 2 for a deeper impact and would have loved Tom Hardy in it, miles, Gwen, etc... but what are we gonna do? Curious about the venom 2 ending.

Def need more Toby! MORE TOBY SONY! :) Toby and Hardy together would be my fav alt reality.

It's beautifully filmed. It's an intriguing story, but it's not a good film. Scott proves once again that he can't pick a script to save his life.

Best Bond to date, and the most bond of Craig's Bonds.

Incredible story. Vast. Like a novel.

Didn't like female 007, didn't hate her either; kinda pointless drama for the sake of drama.

The marketing for this film was not good; Please stop hiring woke marketing forms.

That's it. Great Bond film, good send off to Craig.
