I am really impressed by this series. Very good acting, amazing scenery and a good script. I am also impressed by the way the makers find and/or create the locations where the story takes place. In the case of Sløborn the deserted and dreary places. Of course sometimes things are left to the imagination of the viewer and not everything is always 100% believable - so what - but all in all the series is very good entertainment. Another fact that blew my mind is that they started filming this in August 2019, the year before Covid19 really became a worldwide pandemic. Be warned though: don't expect a fast action series!
I can be quite short about this series. Its title really represents my feeling about what happened to the main character and the way she was treated by all the institutions she had to deal with: unbelievable. The way the two female detectives handled the case and solved it: unbelievable. The acting by Kaitlyn Dever: unbelievable. Also Merritt Wever and Toni Collette did a great job. As a whole this series was really convincing and nothing was over the top. I can only fully recommend it (but not to those who expect an action based crime series).
I still remember 1986 and the consequences the Chernobyl disaster had for large parts of Europe. Here in the Netherlands the consequences were nothing compared to those in Ukraine and Belarus. I remember we were advised not eat fruit and vegetables from our own gardens. I was 24 when it happened and it is quite frightening that many people - myself included - knew something had gone terribly wrong but only found out many years later what could have happened.
I visitied Chernobyl in 2014 and was immensely impressed by what I saw in that area (including the town of Pripyat). It was one of the most impressive experiences of my life: to be able to see this place that caused so much misery and knowing that hundreds of thousands of people did so much to prevent this from getting an even worse distaster than it already was.
This series is very well made. So far I've seen two episodes. I was VERY impressed by what I've seen so far. I read a lot about Chernobyl and saw many documentaries about Chernobyl before actually going there in 2014 so I can honestly say that the makers of this show did an incredible job in making everything look this real (as far as realistically possible).
This is TV at its best: respect!
