Advancing global clean industry transformation
About us
Mission Possible Partnership (MPP) is an independent non-profit organisation advancing global clean industry transformation. Since 2019, we have been working with some of the most energy-intensive industries – aluminium, cement, chemicals, shipping, aviation and steel – to cut their global GHG emissions. We mobilise business, finance, government, and civil society leaders to speed up the shift to clean materials, chemicals and fuels. Having charted sectoral pathways to net-zero, we continue to forge new territory, lifting the barriers to enable a critical mass of clean industrial projects to break ground by 2030. Mission Possible Partnership has people and partners on the ground in North America, Brazil, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, India and Australia.

China is already the centre of gravity for clean industry. The next wave will go to the regions that move fastest now. China leads today – of the 144 projects that have reached Final Investment Decision (FID), 54 are in China. And with 148 more projects in its pipeline, financing the next tranche could more than triple the number of delivered projects (Source: MPP Global Project Tracker). But the biggest opportunity is shifting. The New Industrial Sunbelt (Latin America through Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific to Australia) stands out for what comes next: 343 projects in the pipeline, representing 19x its current financed base. Australia and India lead with 53 projects each – tied for the third-largest pipeline globally. India is the largest pipeline among EMDEs. Europe’s next move matters too. Europe has 224 projects waiting to be unlocked – 6x its current financed projects. The US has 96 waiting – 5x its financed base. Yet Europe today has just 35 financed projects – roughly 5% of China’s total. Here’s the point: momentum is building. The pipeline is there. What decides who wins the next wave is how quickly projects move from 'announced' to 'financed' to 'operating'. 🎥 This animation shows that momentum in motion. Question: what unlocks the next surge fastest where you operate – demand signals, cheaper clean power, or smarter project finance?

During the World Economic Forum in Davos, AGSI joined a closed-door discussion hosted by the Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) and Mission Possible Partnership titled “Opening New Markets: Accelerating clean industry investment through trade partnerships." The discussion brought together senior leaders from industry, finance, and government to explore how trade partnerships can strengthen competitiveness while unlocking clean industrial investment through clearer standards, stronger market signals, and practical cross-border frameworks. As AGSI CEO Asam Hussain highlighted, the transition is entering a phase where carbon transparency drives market outcomes. With frameworks like CBAM, carbon reporting is evolving into a measurable and monetised system, shaping who can compete, who can scale, and where investment will go next. A strong and timely exchange on what it will take to unlock real cross border progress. #AGSI #WEF #Davos2026 #ITA #MPP #CleanIndustry

Davos underscored the gap between dominant narratives and underlying transitions. Geopolitics and AI dominated many conversations, while electrification and the energy transition were less visible in the official narrative. That said, the transition was clearly part of many conversations, even if less visible on the headline agenda. I was encouraged to find many people genuinely focused on accelerating the transition across heavy industry. Also, early announcements like “EU Inc” sparked interest, but highlighted how much detail and execution still matter. Thanks to Mission Possible Partnership and TPC (Tsao Pao Chee) for a thoughtful session on accelerating clean industry investment through trade partnerships - with Meranti Green Steel a clear example of how this can be done in practice - and to the many people who contributed to constructive discussions throughout the week. One quote also stuck with me, shared by Paul Polman from Hubert Reeves: “Man is the most insane species: we worship invisible gods, yet destroy visible nature.”

We’re on the cusp of a new industrial revolution. 2025 built momentum. 2026 is the time to convert to investments. Worldwide, 1,000+ commercial-scale clean industrial plants are operating or planned in energy-intensive sectors. These facilities will produce the essential clean materials, fuels and chemicals – like cement, steel and aluminium – that our economies rely on. 140+ projects are now financed showing investment IS achievable. Acceleration is happening: 50% more projects are poised to be financed. Leaders are emerging, with China racing ahead. But the ‘new industrial sunbelt’ now hosts the largest global pipeline, offering jobs, food and energy security, economic growth and more resilient supply chains. 2025 was a turbulent year – but clean industry found its stride. Despite global political and economic headwinds, a powerful shift is underway: clean industry is no longer just a climate goal – it’s a competitive advantage, an investment opportunity, and a pillar of energy security. Behind the headlines, momentum is building. From Australia to India, Mission Possible Partnership and the Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) convened coalitions of project developers, financiers, and governments to move from plans to plants. Our Global Project Tracker now counts over 1,000 commercial-scale clean industrial projects worldwide. But they're not reaching Final Investment Decision (FID) quickly enough – and time is short. As Faustine Delasalle reminds us in her message below, we must unlock investment in 50 clean industrial plants by the end of 2026; a bold but achievable goal. What gives us hope? - Real breakthroughs in emerging markets – the ‘new industrial sunbelt’ is rising. - Growing coalitions of business, finance and policy, ready to act. - Recognition that clean industry is not a trade-off – it is a pathway to jobs, resilience, and long-term competitiveness. 🚀 2026 is the year to go from early momentum to real money on the table. #CleanIndustry #MissionPossible #IndustrialTransition #BuildCleanNow
