美國加州大學厄灣分校中國文學教授。著有《漂流於江湖之間：南宋詩與文學史之難題》（Drifting among Rivers and Lakes: Southern Song Poetry and the Problem of Literary History, 2013）、《文言文入門》（An Introduction to Literary Chinese, 1999）、《東坡之路》（The Road to East Slope: The Development of Su Shi’s Poetic Voice, 1990），以及《哥倫比亞中國文學史》（The Columbia History of Chinese Literature, 2001）中關於宋代詩歌的章節。
