In the present paper, we analyze the past, present and future of medicinal plants, both as potential and antimicrobial crude drugs as well as a source of natural compounds that acts as new antiinfection drugs. Bacterial infections are one of the prominent causes of health problems, physical disabilities and mortalities around the world. Medicinal plants are rich source of anti-microbial agents and provide a safer and cost effective way of treating bacterial infections. This article describes the anti-microbial activity of natural products from medicinal plants. The antimicrobial activity was determined in aqueous and ethanol extracts using agar disc diffusion method. The extracts from the mint medicinal plants was screened in vitro in the laboratory for their antimicrobial activity against Agrobacterium rhizogene and E.coli. The tyndalized extracts of mint showing antimicrobial inhibition zone of 70mm against Agrobacterium rhizogene and E.coli exhibited the highest activity during the study than the autoclaved samples.
