Changing The Academic Calendar of The Philippines

The document discusses changing the Philippines' academic calendar from June to March to August to May. This change is being made to align with ASEAN countries and prepare for ASEAN economic integration. It will allow Philippines universities to internationalize and attract more foreign students and teachers. However, there are also disadvantages like classes coinciding with hot weather and possible tuition increases. There is conflict between those who support internationalization versus local students and businesses that rely on the summer season. Overall the calendar change aims to integrate Philippines education with ASEAN but there are adjustments needed.
