INTRODUCTION
IS code adopted by bureau of Indian
standard code.
First published in 1953 under the title
of code of practise for plain and
reinforced concrete for general buildings
and revised in 1957.
In revised edition of 1964, it was
renamed as code of practise for plain
and reinforced concrete thus enlarging
the scope to structures other the general
buildings.
Revised edition of 1978, included
limit state approach to design. Designed
keeping in view the recent developments
and trends in CT and other
improvements.
American Code is produced by
governing agency for all concrete
construction in the U.S
First published in 1904 to represent
user interest in field of concrete.
ACI publishes many different
standards but most used is ACI 318

To outline the important difference between the
